"We announce with great regret that tomorrow's (June 24) free performance by the Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club® featuring Omara Portuondo at Celebrate Brooklyn! has been CANCELLED because the group did not get visas in time for all musicians to travel to New York from Cuba. At this time, there are no plans to reschedule the performance."

Damnit Obama, why didn't you remind them to get their visas earlier!! asleep at the wheel as usual...

If they were late in applying, then Sarcasm 10:03AM would be right, but this has been happening so often recently and with established acts, it is likely that it has something to do with government's policies.

They need a subsection of the DHS visa office that actually knows about music besides classical...

Blame Bush anyway.

They should have just come in through the open boarders of the southern USA.

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2010 11:52 AM

yea, don't think you can blame visa problems on Celebrate Brooklyn, that's a government thing! Wouldn't want any of these Cuban musicians infecting Park Slope millionairs with any talk of socialism! But seriously, this really sucks, was going to be a great show!
