Well, considering the club no longer exists--and prior to its closing had been resting on its laurels since the late 80's hardcore scene--this comes as no surprise. CBGB lived off its name for way too long to begin with. Anyone who'd been to one of their thoughtlessly booked, nightly shows of 10 bands you hate during the 90s and early 2000s.

Guess this means no CBs Vegas? Bwahahaha!

I think 9:27 and 10:12 is the same asshole that's been commenting at Brooklyn Vegan for years. He or she has no life, wears non-prescription (maybe prescription) glasses, owns a slight weight problem (or weight disorder) and has a job where they are unhappy and sit at a computer all day. I'm 50% positive it could be Joe Mande.

In real life, your music taste and dress is bland as a piece of vanilla shit because you are so petrified of being made fun of. Which is a sort of silly thing to worry about because I'm betting you have, at most, 3 or 4 friends that put up with you making annoying, snide remarks everywhere you go that only you think are funny.

I really wish you would leave Brooklyn Vegan.

Oh but I agree, kind of silly to keep selling merchandise advertising a closed club. If you really want your own CBs shirt, make one.

Yeah, there's just one anonymous dude that's been posting all the negative/sarcastic comments on BV since day one.

9:27 is exactly right. They thoughtlessly booked 10 shitty bands a night for years. Was a waste of a great venue with such great potential to be relevant.
Anyone who says 9:27 commenter is clueless, is actually the one who is clueless.

hilly rolls over in his grave...

John Varvatos is the new CBGB's. Corporate sponsonred rock and roll by a gay man who buys his friends. That location is cursed ever since Johny Ramone died.

at what point will we not see cbgb t- shirts any more?

Posted by Anonymous | June 14, 2010 2:54 PM

I saw a guy in San Francisco this past weekend with a Max's Kansas City T-Shirt.... I'd trade my CBGBs T-Shirt for that.

They should have enough revenue streams from the brand name for years but they probably took huge loans and now can't pay them back -

That place was completely useless in it's last years of existance. Personally I was glad to see that place go. It was depressing.
I don't likethings that live in it's former glory... Get with the present and put those glory days in a box and give it too someone who cares.
