Cocorosie

Cocorosie's latest album, Grey Oceans, was released on May 11th by Sub Pop. Exactly one month later (this past Friday night), they headlined a show at Terminal 5 in NYC. Their friend Diane Cluck opened the show. Pictures and videos from the show, and more dates (they're on the road until July 2nd), below...

those audience pics are hilarious

Indeed those audience pics are hilarious....it's like they're watching a movie or something.

I'm guessing there were about 1000 people at the most!

Study the music my young lad... Learn the power of the beat.

my lord this looks horrible

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2010 2:20 PM

Why is she wearing Iron Maiden pants???

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2010 2:24 PM

The audience pics are just as funny as they sound! I was laughing all the way through the first video. Hilariously terrible music. Hahahahaha.

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2010 2:28 PM

who?

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2010 2:50 PM

hahaha. Predictable BV comments to Coco Rosie.

Don't be frightened by something a little different conservative kiddies.

2:51 - time to learn comma usage

i like underground/indie/avant garde/experimental stuff like arcade fires, the natl, mmj, strokes, camera obscura, kings of leon, janelle monae, and drake.

would i like coco?

LOVED IT!

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2010 3:06 PM

I'm so frightened. What is this different music???? To my untrained, conservative ear it just sounds like total garbage. I have so much to learn.

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2010 3:08 PM

often the BV comments are too quick and automatic with the cynicism, but in the case of coco rosie, it is more than merited. the obnoxiousness of their pixie eurotrash image is matched only by their spoiled arrogance and needlessly 'difficult' music. yuck.

I like CocoRosie, therefore, I'm with Coco!

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2010 3:22 PM

I prefer CoCoComa

Diane Cluck was horrible. Whoever wrote this story completely missed Light Asylum who opened and were much better than both Diane Cluck and CocoRosie combined.

The theatrics of CocoRosie are part of their operatic history and its all fun and little girl games. If you can't understand that, then you were probably never once a little weird child who believed in pretty little fairies and things like that. The sisters also grew up going to hippie communes with their father, apparently.

Loved their first album, even the weird parts, but the last two have been too far out there for me. However, the live performance this weekend was actually moving and had a lot of energy. It was memorable and the girls have vocal talent, even if its only in one of them.

The beatboxer looked like he was from a country where there are a lot of sandstorms. Why was he wearing that on his head?

Light Asylum was the best band there? They were the worst band I've ever seen. I can't even image the rest of this.

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2010 5:38 PM

3:35 - If you have to tell a band's backstory to sell them, the tunes probably ain't there.

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2010 5:50 PM

I totally agree with 5:50. Good music doesn't need a backstory! Besides, how's this for a backstory: I saw these girls years ago opening for Bright Eyes and the were terrible then! Just awful. Seems like not much has changed...

i really like their first two records. saw them live in the fall and thought it was really cool. interesting.

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2010 11:11 PM

caught them yesterday in montreal. i had my doubts about going. but glad i did! what an awesome show. they are defo the live act type. tez, the beatboxer, is uhhh-maazing!

We have to practice excercise and proper diet to children from their chilhood days so that they will be protected from heart diseases.
