The Go-Gos

June 9, 2010 (LOS ANGELES, CA) - It is with great regret that the Go-Go's announce today the cancelation of Happily Ever After, their summer farewell tour. The tour was scheduled to kick off July 7 at Lilith Fair San Diego, and conclude in Austin, TX on July 27. The band will also be unable to perform live on Good Morning America, scheduled for July 16 in New York's Central Park.

The news comes as a result of guitarist Jane Wiedlin injuring herself after a 20-foot fall while hiking near her home in Northern California a couple of weeks ago. Jane is scheduled for ACL replacement surgery for her knee in the coming weeks, with a prognosis of up to a year recovery time.

The band is heartbroken and hopes their fans will send best wishes for Jane's speedy recovery. In the meantime, tickets can be refunded at point of purchase. [Jane Wiedlin]

I am sorry to hear of the injury. I'm sure the band would have loved to tour. The Hawaiians say it best, why say Farewell when you can say aloha? Get well soon.

Get well Jane. You rock! Have never seen the Go Go's live. I've seen Cannibal Corpse a few times, so close.

New insurance clause in band contract: No member may go hiking near a cliff with a few weeks of the start of a tour.

Replace her with St. Vincent..nobody will know the difference

calling it the "Happily Ever After farewell tour." doomed it from the start.

this would be such a sad tour. can you imagine being there?

also, someone already said it, but maybe you shouldn't go dangerously hiking so soon before a tour.

if this was THE WHO, they would have a replacement within hours.

What an idiot. She ruined the summer for every hipster in Brooklyn.

Have you noticed in that video the singer dances like Morrisey? Who came first the chicken or the egg?

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2010 11:52 AM

"the singer?"

Really, you don;t know her name?

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2010 1:02 PM

Hoping Jane's surgery goes well, and that the rumor of a tour in 2011 is real! My husband has been a long-time fan. You might remember him as "Lenny or Legend". He told me about the time he fell in the middle of the GoGos table one night at a restaurant and what a great time he had partying with them afterwards.

He is battling cancer and I want to surprise him with a visit to Houston or New Orleans next year if the rumor is true.
Just bought a vintage poster and I was hoping to have it autographed for him at the concert.

Thankfully they didn't replace her with Ms. Zero Personality Paula Jean Brown.

all Go Go reunions are great because they ensure that there won't be more Belinda Carlisle solo albums with Bon Jovi rip off tunes....being as actual Bon Jovi tunes suck too.
With the girls, BC is cool. Without them, nah. But without BC, the others would have nothing too. Band chemistry is what it is.

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie were really good albums. Got them when they came out, still throw them on at times and think they're great. It saddens me when I hear bands from that era when I was a teenager and hear their new stuff and it's so clear how they've lost it, they sound desperate to recapture a sound/magic that they haven't had in 15 years (holy shit).... And then I realize that is not unlike a lot of us.
