National Post: So you have a new album out, called Compass. Do you feel differently about this album than the rest of your body of work?Jamie Lidell played a show at Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn Thursday night (6/10). More pictures and the setlist from the show below...
Jamie Lidell: I definitely feel differently about it. It's a lot more personal on all levels: sonically, lyrically, energy-wise, metaphysically, spiritually... It's more of a cross-section of what it is that turns me on. I definitely kind of focused myself when I was making Jim. I kind of took one section of myself, but I always felt like there was something missing, another side of me that needed to come out. I guess when I wrote this, I kind of tried to promote the idea that everyone's welcome to the party. It was really relaxing. I just trusted myself. It's kind of like wearing an outfit. People are going to think I'm an idiot, but do you know what I mean? It's richer than that hopefully, but the lyrics I tried to make not really superficial.
