Fucked Up
Liars

Cults (who just opened for Goldfrapp), Male Bonding (who are touring with Best Coast in September) and Titus Andronicus played the early show on the "MetroPCS Stage" at Newtown Barge Park as part of the 2nd annual Northside Festival in Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon (6/26). High Places, Fucked Up and Liars played the show right afterward at the same venue. More pictures starting with Titus, below...

space turned out to be pretty cool, if you don't mind sitting/standing on concrete. Went to the evening show and a great night all around.

The Liars were F**KING AWESOME!

Posted by Anonymous | June 27, 2010 11:48 PM

Enough already with the Fucked up coverage. This band is so over rated it isn't fun. Someone get this guy a shirt already. Failing around when you are big and hairy without a shirt doesn't equal edgy or punk. Why no Polvo coverage??? They were probably waaaaaay rader than any of these bands pictured! "In Prisms" was a really good album.

Posted by Anonymous | June 27, 2010 11:58 PM

rader?

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 12:01 AM

Liars setlist anyone?

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 12:03 AM

"Why no Polvo coverage???"

Polvo didn't play this show dude.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 12:06 AM

Who is the straight edge(?) girl on the phone? I want to meet her.

Also, the guy that walks around in the milk man costume is in that first picture. What is that guy all about?

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 12:21 AM

Would his band stop him if the singer of Fucked Up tried to go on a diet and groom himself?

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 12:24 AM

Amazing photos. Good to see Maryanne's work on this site.

"Enough already with the Fucked up coverage. This band is so over rated it isn't fun. Someone get this guy a shirt already. Failing around when you are big and hairy without a shirt doesn't equal edgy or punk."

This foolish comment is typical of the public perception of Fucked Up, and shame on BrooklynVegan for playing into it - say what you will about Pink Eyes and his antics (I find them consistently delightful, myself), but there are five other members of Fucked Up who are superlative musicians. 10,000 Marbles is the best guitar player working today! Yet, all this commenter can find to say about them, and back up his/her viewpoint, is that Pink Eyes "flails around... without a shirt." Is it any surprise that this dope doesn't get it when BV can't be bothered to post EVEN ONE picture of anyone else in Fucked Up? Fucked Up is edgy and punk because they play music that travels into exciting new territory in accordance with their own rules and no one else's, but who would know? BV - don't play this dope's game! Show some love for the other super-talented members of Fucked Up!

Or don't, since everyone gawking at Pink Eyes made it too easy to get the perfect vantage point from which to watch TKM make his magic.

@12:21

I was by that girl during the show. Not straight edge, just a marking to indicate you paid for a ticket. She brought in a Colt 45.

And on that note, what made the concert even better that the concert organizers didn't care if you had outside food or drink.

finally, no cults or male bonding photos? Cults were all right, but Male Bonding killed it

Great show all around.

Bro. Liars were off the fucking chain. Angus just owns shit with his sweet dancing. Trying to remember the exact order of the set list. I know they opened with The Overachievers. It was pretty heavy on Sisterworld. No Barrier Fun, Here Comes All The People, Proud Evolution, Scissor, Scarecrows on a Killer Slant, The Garden Was Crowded and Outside, Plaster Casts of Everything, there are some more that I just can't remember for the life of me. The encore was Be Quiet! Mt. Heart Attack and Broken Witch. I know that much. Great show, great venue, great time.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 7:28 AM

well put, Patrick. All propelled by a fantastic rhythm section.

Fun shows. Nice space. I would go back there. It also wasn't crowded at all, which contributed to the relaxed atmosphere.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 9:19 AM

exciting new territory? not so much. good band, yes. but let's not go crazy here. there is no new territory being covered by that band..

Polvo was part of the Northside Festival They played on Sunday June 27th at the stage in Barge Park.

true. this band always blew, but to see them enter their novelty-nostalga phase (already?) is kind of sad.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 10:27 AM

dude doesn't look that fat with his clothes on.

but then he takes his shirt and pants off and he's, like, totally fat.

much respect, though.

"Fucked Up is edgy and punk because they play music that travels into exciting new territory in accordance with their own rules and no one else's"

Is this a joke?

fucked up aint nothing but les savy fav biters without the talent.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 12:07 PM

Can't believe that we missed Liars cause we ended up with our show being at the exact same time as their set. Bummer. Looks like a kick ass time. We will have to catch them when they come back to town.

that pink sock or blue ballz or whatever his name is has got quite the gunt going on.
He looks like a big hairy baby running around naked.

$5 is a bit much for a can of Heineken.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 2:14 PM

Tim Harrington aint half the man Pink Eyes is. Fuck Les Hacky Favv - they've always been generic and limp and Tim is a fucking real life creep to boot.

Posted by Fred | June 28, 2010 2:30 PM

Fucked Up were fantastic. Pink Eyes = GG Allin minus the doody and violence.

@ Patrick - that is the correct opinion, thank you.

@ anonymous 10:22 - I've never heard a hardcore punk band doing an 18 minute song.. wouldn't you say that's sorta new ground?

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 3:18 PM

to the guy who drank the mystery water at titus: you are great and i hope you're okay!

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 4:28 PM

If you don't like Fucked up, don't read the articles about them! I would hope you don't go to the shows. That said, they are amazing live - not the best hardcore/punk band I've ever seen, but Pink Eyes is truly amazing, and just trying to get everyone involved and having fun. If you're too cool to engage and have fun at a show, I guess Fucked Up is not for you...

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 5:00 PM

@ anonymous 3:18 - Google "The Decline".

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 6:03 PM

these fights are funny.
the show was great.
when are they gonna announce the waterfront shows?

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 6:28 PM

How about a hardcore punk band doing a 12 hour show, that's sorta new ground.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 10:26 PM

@3:18- go fuck yerself. gg allin would make pink eyes suck his own shit of gg's cock after he ass raped that fat fuck. NOBODY can touch gg esp not this fucking guy. CMON! you've obviously never seen or met gg allin and you never will - i pity you, you poor fucker...

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2010 1:48 AM

1:48 -

Its' clear that YOU never met/saw GG. The guy was the biggest pussy on earth. He wasn't raping ANYBODY with that dead noodle of his.

Posted by Fred | June 29, 2010 2:38 AM

is the "hipster" hater the MEH guy trying to reinvent himself in a desperate attempt to stay current? i was hoping someone whacked him. fuck meh and fuck hipster- you're still stupid!

the fact that this G.G. Allen fan thinks a person shits out of his cock totally invalidates this kid's comment

Wonderful post and the location is beautiful and elegant in design and information and everything>>> to Favorites
Amazing is an enormous understatement. One of the best electronic shows I've ever been to and I've seen well over a thousand concerts. I had no idea Vladislav Delay was as good a drummer & percussionist as he is- fabulous and he kept everything swinging with a very unique style of playing. If you missed this you missed out big time...
