Memory Tapes @ MHOW - June 26, 2010
Memory Tapes

"[Saturday] night was one of the Brooklyn Vegan showcases, featuring Zaza, DOM, Twin Sister and Memory Tapes.

I unfortunately missed the Zaza set, although heard from some folks that they were one of the better sets that night. DOM rocked it, with trippy projections on a big screen behind them (that would also flash "DOM" between songs, lest you forget who you were watching) and trying to rouse a chorus of "USA!" after they finished their song "Living in America." One poor audience member attempted to stage dive at the very end of their set, to be met with nothing but the cold, hard floor of the Music Hall of Williamsburg..." [Free Williamsburg]

Thanks everyone for a great show. Those who missed Zaza's set, or those who want to just relive it, can grab the audio online now at NYC Taper (where they also have the audio of the WAVVES show at Knitting Factory).

>>ohhh so angry I missed zaza again!

Don't bother, just listen to bad Duran Duran songs.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 11:10 AM

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 11:14 AM

ipod, ipod, boombox, ipod = boring semi-live music

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 11:24 AM

"ipod, ipod, boombox, ipod = boring semi-live music"

Definitely. Nobody can find real live band members?

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 11:29 AM

MEHmory Tapes.

Who was using "iPods" during this show? Or is that just your immature / naive way of saying "samplers and synths"?

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 11:36 AM

Which guy in the band did that talentless little whore in twin sister blow to get herself in the band? She has the worst voice i've heard in a long time and hey girl, i'm sorry you have to be onstage for 30 min and that your friends are doing something much more exciting somewhere else but can you at least fake like you're enjoying yourself?

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 11:42 AM

^good lord woman, a bit harsh? Go rip her necklace off at prom.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 11:53 AM

lol
stage dive = fail
cold hard floor = WIN!

Yes it is.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 12:58 PM

OMG! The dude who tried stage diving while smelly Dom was playing. HAHAHAHA!

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 1:00 PM

Well, I hope you don't think we're posturing because we don't have stage banter - as for not having "hooks" - fair enough, that just isn't what we try to do on stage.

the Duran Duran comment is still as funny as it was after Seaport last year, good to see you're still commenting here friend.

We will say though, we don't use an iPod (even if we did, who cares) - our drummer Dru works his ass triggering samples during the set. Gotta give him a little credit...

If you guys want a free t-shirt / CD - feel free to email us. At the very least you can use either as a coaster / rag?

All that aside...

We had a great time playing for you all - it was an honor to be included by BV on the bill, among some truly fantastic / genuine / hard working bands.

Hope to see you all (even you 11:42) soon.

PS. Apologies for the vibrator left in the green room DOM, hope that wasn't awkward.

xx, ZAZA

BIG PROPS TO ZAZA for stepping out of the shadows and putting the haters in their place...much respect for telling it like it is. Hey Haters if you don't like their music don't show up when they are playing!

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 1:37 PM

WHO IS ZAZA? Why do bands with no fans write on this blog?

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 1:42 PM

^*facepalm

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 1:53 PM

ZAZA?? There are 3 other bands named Za Za that I can think of! @ namechangeasap

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 2:06 PM

Za Za was a terrible shoegaze band from the early 90s. I don't think this is the same band.

>>BIG PROPS TO ZAZA for stepping out of the shadows and putting the haters in their place

Maybe they should devote their free time to actually writing some songs instead.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 2:22 PM

There is a Thai bubblegum pop group Za Za, not them either.

I thought Memory Tapes were great live, even if different than recorded. Worked both ways

Posted by Greg S. | June 28, 2010 3:35 PM

COOL! I will take a free coaster.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 4:43 PM

Mempry Tapes = GREAT show but yup-= Voice a tad flat. Matt, the drummer, is fantasmic!

Super stage dive FAIL! It was so bad and sad that it was great!

Posted by Vanessa | June 28, 2010 4:49 PM

...here you go - booking@zazasound.com

the coaster idea was just the start - http://www.diyforums.net/things-you-can-make-out-of-old-cds-138.html

Are you sure you don't need a rag as well? I'm sure you have some stuff to wipe up.

Posted by ZAZA's mother | June 28, 2010 4:52 PM

Oh c'mon girl from twin sister! Why??? You're a pretty girl!

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 8:39 PM

Even if you're giving out free rags and coasters...you still suck.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 10:45 PM

memory tapes is so good but awful live... not oK!

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 11:28 PM

Touché 10:45...duly noted

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2010 12:06 AM

I don't have any friends other than my band. i'm not use to big venues, i thought i was going to die. sorry for my spana-frown and my bad voice. i will try better. As for the band, i had to fuck all of them to get them to like me. been fuckin them for years.
Love,
Twin Sister's

it's a terrible shame that people who dont even create music, use this platform to spew hate and negativity- everyone in New York who plays music works their damn asses off, because New York is damn hard to live in. If you dont appreciate someone's art, leave it alone- no reason to make wretched comments. Must be boredom.

as for Twin Sister and the other bands- they are beautiful and dynamic and obviously, work really hard.

you people truly have no humanity.
