MIA

Saturday's event will be streaming online. That includes the performances by Sleigh Bells, Die Antwoord and the secret guest, who, if you didn't figure it out already, is M.I.A.. UPDATE: the event will be streaming, but not the performances, just the exhibits.

Tickets are also on sale for MIA/Sleigh Bells/Die Antwoord at Governors Island.

Neon Indian also plays Creators Project, also has a show coming up at Governors Island, and is today's "creator".

I wonder how much bv is getting paid to hype this douche- riot?

FYI, Sleigh Bells and Die Antwoord kinda suck....ok, REALLY suck!

Anyone know how the RSVP worked if you did in fact RSVP?

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2010 1:49 PM

There's gonna be so many people turned away for this...ugh

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2010 1:54 PM

Yep just like Halloween Vice Party, it'll be a giant mess. Music probably won't start till at least 6 or 7pm I bet.

Won't be worth it....

new record is a big disappointment
next!

understanding that the lynn hirshfield article was a journalistic ambush, MIA still comes across as a bit of an unanchored, desperate-for-attention pseudo artist.

i have her first 2 cds and enjoy them, but i think she's not as savvy as she'd like to think she is.

As far as I know, the RSVP was first come, first served. I RSVPed on the first day and got in, no problem. Can't wait, as -- among other things -- I'm a HUGE Mira Calix fan.

@1:48, I RSVPed and got an email confirmation, which I had to reply to in order to be on the list.

M.I.A. = Mindless Idiot Airhead.

Americans don't have a sense of humor because they don't find suicide bombers funny?

Posted by Anonymous | June 26, 2010 6:12 PM

rolled up at 9:15 - no lines anywhere (except for free drinks)

saw interpol. bailed afterward because it was too damn hot. other than that, a good, free time.

Posted by Anonymous | June 27, 2010 12:03 AM

How long was Interpol's set?

Posted by Anonymous | June 27, 2010 12:14 AM

^ Yep. Looking for the same info. I ditched after Not Even Jail to get a decent MIA spot. It was a little under an hour in at that point.

Posted by Anonymous | June 27, 2010 1:24 AM

interpol played for an hour

Posted by Anonymous | June 27, 2010 2:15 AM

Interpol did the hits (PDA, Slow Hands, Obstacle 1, Say Hello to the Angels, Take You On A Cruise, Mammoth) and the new songs sounded great. Pajo did his best on bass, still learning the songs I guess. the loading ramp was pretty sweaty and nasty, but nowhere near as bad as that upstairs gallery.

MIA was a blast. A real party environment, dirty beats, great dancing, pretty much chaos. her rainbow wig was worth the price of admission (which was free) and she wore that camouflage shit on her head that Mick Jones wears in the Rock the Casbah video.
