With a new 7" on the way and select dates already scheduled, Panda Bear has confirmed the details of his new record, and more shows - including one on Governors Island on September 11th... which feels kind of weird - not good or bad, just weird since the Manhattan skyline will be clearly visible from the outdoor venue while Noah Lennox is performing. $25 tickets to the show will go on AMEX pre-sale on Wednesday, June 9th and then general sale on Friday, June 11th.
Dirty Projectors also play a NYC show on 9/11 this year.
More info about the PB single (which is part of a series in anticipation of a new LP) and all tour dates (Animal Collective-related wedding footage) are below...
Panda Bear record
The two-track "Tomboy" is the first in a series of limited-edition 7" singles that Panda is planning for different labels, all leading up to the release of a full-length, also called Tomboy. The singles will all be limited-edition, single-pressing vinyl affairs, and they won't be available digitally until the album comes out.Michael + Heather's Wedding! (My Girls - Animal Collective)The single features two tracks, "Tomboy" and "Slow Motion". (No word on whether the latter is a Juvenile cover. We can hope!) Panda recorded and produced both of them in his Lisbon studio. A press release indicates that these songs won't be as sample-based as Panda's last album, 2007's beloved Person Pitch. [Pitchfork]

Why anyone would go to see him live is crazy. He was TERRIBLE at primavera. Never seen so many people leave a show as his set there. Not worth it! Just buy the album.

Didn't Panda Bear cancel his ATP2009 show? I'm pretty sure just Animal Collective played. Or maybe I just don't remember.

Hey STRNGLV...because looking bored shows you're bored. In other words, even he's bored at his shows.
Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2010 2:13 PM
he actually has to do a good amount of shit on stage and deal with a bunch of gear. if you can't get past the rock band jumping around on stage thing then thats fine but yous a hater is all
Posted by STRNGLV | June 10, 2010 12:42 PM
I's a "hater?" No I can't get past the "rock band jumping around on stage" thing. Panda Bear and Animal Collective are bores. You know this.

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie were really good albums. Got them when they came out, still throw them on at times and think they're great. It saddens me when I hear bands from that era when I was a teenager and hear their new stuff and it's so clear how they've lost it, they sound desperate to recapture a sound/magic that they haven't had in 15 years (holy shit).... And then I realize that is not unlike a lot of us.
