Yeah, we were there, and it was boring

Posted by J | June 27, 2010 11:06 PM

they also covered Rock N Roll and Good Times Bad Times...this post should be about the Good Times Bad Times. who gives a shit about NMH?

Posted by Amy | June 27, 2010 11:09 PM

Yeah, Amy, they did cover those two other songs--but they cover those two songs ALL the time. Playing NMH was a very left-field cover for this band, and certainly newsworthy. Personally, I loved it.

Phish has played all electro / disco sets before, used vacuum cleaners as instruments and been covered by Boredoms. I think your MOR 90s cornball indie rock covers aren't very left-field for these guys. People who *love* Phish = dorks in your freshman dorm. People who *love* NMH = dorks in your freshman dorm.

NMH, worst band i was ever talked into seeing live. Thought I was at a Brian Jonestown unplugged taping with the tambourine guy in BJM promoted to band leader.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 12:34 AM

Trust, I was at the Phish show and I didn't see one person around me that knew what song they were playing. Maybe we were all dorks in our Freshman dorm, but that doesn't mean that we all listened to the same shit.

Phish is actually more indie than most of the bands on this site.

Fuck NMH, let's talk about that Thriller/Billie Jean jam during 2001 at Camden on Friday night. Shit was fucking HOT.

This band is on FIRE these days, my God.

Solid version of In The Aeroplane. The piano makes this great.

"Phish is actually more indie than most of the bands on this site."

Yup.

Posted by treece | June 28, 2010 10:47 AM

horrible cover, like most of theirs. they always seem to remove any balls the original song had.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 10:56 AM

a better cover is "War Pigs" by aMEHnda palMEHr.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 11:18 AM

awesome, this song is perfect for old man Phish 3.0

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 11:42 AM

Good to see Phish get their indie cred on. They've always been heads above their peers in the jam band scene.

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 12:53 PM

both of these bands fucking blow

all you fucking jambands fags can suck a dick just cause there isnt a 9min solo on any NMH song doesnt make it suck you guys just dont know good music even if it bit you in the ass and plus if phish is playin it means that they must have great respect for it

Posted by Anonymous | June 28, 2010 9:26 PM

Phish invented "indie" and if you don't believe that, you should look into it. Saying that covering NMH gives Phish "indie cred" is such a bizarro piece of irony. It's like saying that covering Jay-Z would give Run DMC "hip-hop cred."

Posted by B | June 29, 2010 2:07 AM

Quote from above: "Phish is actually more indie than most of the bands on this site."

Correction: Phish is more indie than EVERY band on this site.

People who hate on other people's musical tastes= the the angry pretentious shithead in the freshman dorm who recites the cop bathroom pot smuggling story from Reservoir Dogs anytime he gets the chance even though nobody ever asks him to.

"Phish invented "indie""
