Spiritualized

Spiritualized reissued Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space at the end of 2009...

"The album release co-incided with live performances of the entire album; part of All Tomorrow's Parties 'Don't Look Back' series. The band were approached two years ago to perform the album live on its 10th anniversary. It took a while for J.Spaceman to finally agree to the idea. 'It was a decision made at altitude' he says referring to being on top of Mt. Buller in Australia at the time. The live performances will see the regular band augmented with strings, brass and choir.

It is now 12 years since 'Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space' made a profound impact in the summer of 1997, both critically and commercially, with its psychedelic soundscapes and heart-rending lyrics. It has influenced a whole range of musicians ever since. It was NME's album of the year for 1997 and reached No.4 in the official charts. Originally packaged as a giant pill offering a written prescription, the concept was creatively inspired reflecting the depth of emotion and trauma laid bare on this truly remarkable work."...

The full reissue and bonus CD tracklists are below. Spiritualized performed the album in full in London, Gateshead and Manchester in October and December. The rumor is that they'll do the same this summer at Radio City Music Hall in NYC (soon, like July)... Oh, actually July 30th according to Ticketmaster.

Fan-freaking-tastic! Please no morons who talked all the way through the Apollo Acoustic Mainline show, walking to the front to take pics and talk to Pierce in the middle of songs...

Yes to the event being removed from the database. Please Bowery Presents, wise the fuck up and make this on another night. Too much other good shit happening that friday and saturday.

Cmon, BP, not happy this is at the Radio City cavern but at least it is not Terminal Crap. Now make it a different date and we are all doing fine.

Posted by moldymind | June 2, 2010 4:02 PM

please don't let it be july 30th

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2010 4:04 PM

I think 30 July is a perfect date for this concert.

I wish they would do a date at Tanglewood, that would be amazing.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2010 4:19 PM

I really hope the tickets are reasonable...

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2010 5:43 PM

Posted by rc | June 2, 2010 6:19 PM

i was at radio city for that show too 4:02...good times.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2010 6:32 PM

Get it on . Go back to The Apollo, best venue in NY, that Acustic gig was awesome. But please the silly bcunt getting up and taking photies, stay the fuck home you daft fucker!!!

Posted by Johnny | June 2, 2010 8:43 PM

Went to this in London last year. Symphony Orchestra. 40 or so people on stage. Blew the Acoustic Mainlines gigs away. The encore's usually only 2 or 3 more songs, usually post-ladies, but it is still fantastic.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2010 9:15 PM

Radio City is huge. When they played terminal 5 in 08 there was no one there. I had never seen T5 that empty.

Confirmed by management on the Spiritualized Forum:

"And as ticketmaster rather prematurely announced it will be Radio City Music Hall, Friday, July 30th. This will be the only North American Ladies and Gentlemen show, and the final one."

Posted by Kevin | June 3, 2010 6:34 PM

This is fantastic, if not expected news, as I knew they'd do it here eventually.

A few thoughts from the ol' rassoodock:

1. It will be better than the Apollo Acoustic Mainlines show, which would've been amazing except for the strokers & douchettes ruining it by cavorting, texting and getting up to powder their noses in the middle of songs.

2. T5 didn't sell out, but MHOW a few nights earlier did. The former was a much more powerful performance, with the latter being the much more intimate, sit-down affair, as if Jason was saying, "Sorry the Apollo was ruined by a few wankers, hope this makes up for it."

3. If this beats the Northsix show in '03, or the club gig I saw in '95, for that matter, I'll be surprised. But I won't be disappointed. Never have been, chatty douchettes and all.

4. Any of you kids out there planning on going, take note; Downs (y'know, pills and such) will be your preferred mode of haze-inducement on this evening. Don't get nuts on Sixth Avenue, drinking sake bombs and what-not prior to the show. You and yer lil' pals will not be allowed to royally fuck things up for us more experienced 'heads, travelers & burn-outs. Just ain't gonna happen, dig?
