The Giraffes on a Rocks Off Boat Cruise
The Giraffes

Goes Cube will play June 11th at the Bell House, possibly their final show in 2010:

As individuals, it's a major year for us, as well. This summer, Matt Tyson (bass) and his wife will welcome twins into the world. Meanwhile, David and his wife are moving out of New York City to an undisclosed location (even to them) somewhere out west.

Obviously, with such big plans (the next full length, the EP), this is not the end of Goes Cube. No way.... The soonest we will be conceivably playing again in NYC would be this fall (we've already been invited to play CMJ). However, depending on how things go, it may be longer than that. And consider this: the next time we DO play NYC, it will be as a touring band. After all, it's not worth David coming all the way back to NYC for one show.

So, it stands to reason we'd put together a really fun show to celebrate.... Joining us on the bill will be two bands who have become incredibly close friends of ours, influences on our music, and who we've shared the road with: The Giraffes and East Of The Wall.
Tickets are on sale - its a helluva triple bill.

Goes Cube recently released "Property" b/w "The Ban Has Been Lifted" 7" via The End Records. Want one? I have FIVE available for giveaway! Details on how to win are at the bottom of this post.

For those of you who can't make it to the Bell House, you will get a shot to catch East Of The Wall in NYC at The Studio At Webster Hall on July 30 with Black Cobra, Howl, and Struck by Lightning (tickets), and/or The Charleston when they play with Name on August 2nd.

Meanwhile, The Giraffes have been ragin' away, most recently on a Rocks Off Boat Cruise on June 3rd. Pics from the (absolute) mayhem are below...

the giraffes<giraffes? giraffes!

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2010 1:00 PM

that was a fucking awesome boat ride. Opener J Roddy Walston tossed his piano stool through the window and into the east river at the end of his set... and the Giraffes set ended with Jens playing bass on the bottom deck of the boast while the rest of the band was raging on the top deck. Everything is better on a boat!

Looks like a hell of a boat ride. Shots capture the mayhem perfectly. And that shot at the end is fucking classy!

Well done, Keith!

Sorry, but the giraffes<giraffes? giraffes! are terrible! That was the worst thing I have heard in a while. Im happy though that everyone had fun. Pounding Jameson like that is a really bad idea.

never heard of this band, are they as crazy as the Black Lips?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2010 1:23 PM

also, did the bassist play with julian plenti? looks familair

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2010 1:27 PM

damnit, looks rad. Wish I had gone.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2010 1:52 PM

Wow, looks like a hipster standoff. Who has the most ironic, doofy look--the band or the crowd?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2010 2:19 PM

more idiot rednecks starting an indie rock band. its all gone to hell. i guess punk was milked for all it was worth so we had to jump onto the next scene.

Posted by Holden | June 8, 2010 2:38 PM

Idiot rednecks? I think a few members of the Giraffes are natives. What part of the midwest are you from?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2010 2:48 PM

I like how some of you fucking idiots think the Giraffes are a new band. They've been playing NYC for the better part of a decade. It's YOU who are the newcomers.

Friday's show will be unbeatable. Though, it's not on a boat.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2010 2:51 PM

so they've been around but no one has heard of em....are they anything like the Black Lips? Black lips are crazy you know

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2010 3:21 PM

the giraffes would fuck the black lips in the ass till they liked it.

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie were really good albums. Got them when they came out, still throw them on at times and think they're great. It saddens me when I hear bands from that era when I was a teenager and hear their new stuff and it's so clear how they've lost it, they sound desperate to recapture a sound/magic that they haven't had in 15 years (holy shit).... And then I realize that is not unlike a lot of us.

you dave haters can go fuck yourselves. bonnaroo 2010 was 4 of the best days of my life. the DMB and JayZ headliners at the main stage were two of the best shows I've ever seen, musically and production speaking. 2011 'roo is going to be amazing. Phish headlining?

they also played at a place called Tramps in april '99 losers. with qotsa. where were you? you guys sound pretty angry? go listen to something hip. whatever the fuck you think that is. why does james iha need to be in the band for them to be good? that makes no sense. so the band changed lineups. oh well.

I love The Giraffes. One of the greatest New York bands that no one has ever heard of. I was hanging with Marky Ramone the other night and we were talking about the upcoming show at Mercury Lounge, which I was fortunate enough to go see, on that note I remarked that I remember seeing Joey Ramone at a bunch of Giraffe gigs at Coney Island High-- remember that place. Well it was a lot more fun in New York when the scene was smaller and more dangerous. Unfortunately the most dangerous bands around are Grizzly Bear and the only thing dangerous about them is their name.
