The Strokes playing London on Wednesday as "Venison"

Venison

The Strokes will play a secret gig in London tomorrow night (June 9), Gigwise can exclusively reveal.

The band will perform under the name Venison at Dingwalls in Camden.

The gig will serve as a warm-up for The Strokes' headlining performances at the Isle of Wight and Rockness festivals this weekend.

Tickets go on sale tonight (June 8) at 9pm. [gigwise]

So far the Strokes only have three US shows scheduled for this year - Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and Outside Lands.

They just announced the Lollapalooza schedule...looks like The Strokes and Lady Gaga are in the same time slot. I'm a huge Strokes fan...is it bad that I kinda want to sneak over to Lady Gaga instead?

Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie were really good albums. Got them when they came out, still throw them on at times and think they're great. It saddens me when I hear bands from that era when I was a teenager and hear their new stuff and it's so clear how they've lost it, they sound desperate to recapture a sound/magic that they haven't had in 15 years (holy shit).... And then I realize that is not unlike a lot of us.
