WAVVES

"I can't change how I'm received by people. And I can't change how fast or how slow things happened," he said. "It happened this way. It makes me a little anxious, but I feel like I'm pretty hungry for it. It's happened really fast and I feel like it was a shock at first kind of. But this time around I feel a lot more ready and excited, ready for it." [WAVVES]
Two nights after the Knitting Factory show, WAVVES played a gig at the Meat Locker in Montclair, NJ. More pictures and a video from the Sunday show below...

You guys really like to put me on the spot

Um ok, so Nathan Williams' hunger for internet buzz.

The reason that I like this hunger so much, uh, aside from the fact that it's amazing is, um, I feel like it was kind of overlooked when it actually came out and now it's like this absolute internet buzz hunger. But, uh, when it was actually reviewed, when it came out, it really didn't do very...I mean it did well, but it didn't do extremely well. Rolling Stone at the time gave it like..I think 2 out of 5 stars or something like that. And then when they re-released it they said it was 5 out of 5 stars, when they did the next review. But it was just a very important hunger in my formidable years and, um, it's a classic pop bullshit hype.

those dudes write good pop songs but sure are assholes. until then id never really passed judgment on em but jesus christ...the drummer never shuts the fuck up and wavves prefaced his set by saying it was gonna fucking suck. ducktails rocked though. new band slayzzzz.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2010 12:11 PM

That tongue picture is the most disgusting rock pic of all time.

Posted by LKJ | June 29, 2010 12:32 PM

seeing wavves live tainted their music for me indefinitely. they were the most obnoxious arrogant assholes ive ever seen (especially the drummer). i still like their jams... just not as much.

As most people know, Wavves is really just the singer/guitarist. Why he lets his new backup band talk incessant and unfunny bullshit in between every song is beyond me.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2010 4:06 PM

except for byrds of paradise and gdp who played well this show was fucking aweful. Wavves played terrible, the entire croud was 14 year olds bouncing. Everyone in that band is a asshole, talking shit about the venue. They can stay in new york bullshit venues and stay the fuck out of nj

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2010 5:23 PM

To be fair, that venue looks like a shithole.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2010 5:38 PM

Venue? that word makes the meat locker sound like not an abandoned meat locker. never have i, and never will i go to a show that actually sounds good there. but wavves put on an awesome show despite poor sound quality. too much dick though for comfort.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2010 7:05 PM

weird, since in photos its always 14 year olds im assuming thats all who comments on here? some yall is witty for pre-pubescence

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2010 7:10 PM

you forgot to mention the part where the drummer took his pants off and played the rest of the show with his dick hanging out.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2010 10:33 PM

Useless without dicks.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2010 10:40 PM

the meatlocker is fucking disgusting.
