DOWNLOAD: Salem - King Night (MP3)
Vice Creators Project Announcement party (more by Erez Avissar)

Between the whole Northside Festival, the BrooklynVegan showcase @ MHOW, two BV-BBG heavy showcases, the Afro-Punk Fest, the final Voxtrot shows, Apples in Stereo at the Seaport and the ton of others shows, there's a lot of quality music this weekend, not the least of which is the Creators Project show at Milk Studios on Saturday, June 26th. That show will be the NY debut of Interpol's new lineup (and their first show in the city in quite some time). It'll also bring Mark Ronson, Die Antwoord, The Rapture, Sleigh Bells, Gang Gang Dance, SALEM, N.A.S.A., Neon Indian, Lemonade and a special guest to perform sets (in addition to visual art and whatever else they'll have).
Most if not all of those musicians who are performing have new albums on the way. SALEM's debut, King Night, is due September 28th on IAMSOUND. The fierce, ghostly (wordless) title track is posted above. Another of those artists with a new record on the way is Mark Ronson, whose newest, Record Collection, due in September. As usual there's a long list of guests, including Q-Tip and MNDR, who sing/rap on the super catchy track "Bang Bang Bang," the retro-styled video for which is below.
All the bands that are playing the event are considered "creators", as are all the artists they have listed on their site. Not all the "creators" are performing, and not all the people playing are listed as "creators" on their site. Those that are listed have videos being made about them. A new one debuts each day. For instance, today is Fool's Gold (the label). Past featured creators include Diplo, CSS, Peaches and Mark Ronson.
The Saturday event was previously open for RSVPs, but the list is now closed. The only way to get in now is to win tickets which we have two pairs of to give away. Details and the videos below...

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 4:01 PM
just b/c you rsvp'ed does't mean you are getting in. vice probably had 5K rsvps and only like 800 will get in.
this will probably be a bigger clusterfuck then trying to get onto the boat for the free yeasayer governor's island show. get there suuuuper early.

I heard they used the birthdays to keep out the 'old' people.
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 4:12 PM
C'mon BV. Quit pimping out your readers so these twats can get our email addresses. It's not cool and eventually it will make us all go somewhere else. This "creators" endeavor is the solely for the enjoyment of rich elitists.

But will Tom Windish be there?

Bwah, I got tickets, it made me very happy to be so lucky, and no matter how corporate this is, I'm going to have a good time. Sorry to those who weren't as lucky when they rsvp'ed.

"I heard they used the birthdays to keep out the 'old' people."
If that is true and they did not specifically state age restrictions they could get the fuck sued out of them. They said it was open to anyone.
I think we should all see. Whoever entered state in the comments here if you got in or didn't and what your age is.
I'd love to expose Vice for that and put em right out of business with a nice fat discrimination lawsuit.

I am an old and I even won guest list placement!
Should be fun!
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 5:14 PM

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 5:20 PM

I RSVP'd, am old, did not get in, assumed I was screened for age, and felt really dumb for trying.
I really shouldn't be trying to get on Vice RSVP lists anyway, even if the founders are my age or older.

"So Interpol has dates in Atlantic City and United Palace according to ticketmaster"
Glad to see Interpol is doing a little more back to basics tour. Remember in 2007 when Bowery presents thought they were big enough to play MSG? Overreaching just a tad there? More then half empty if I remember correctly.
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 6:05 PM
they were half right- they aren't big enough, but they're bad enough
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 6:29 PM
i got in and i'm 39. most of my considerably younger female friends didnt get a ticket. it seemed very random but it worked for me. sleigh bells gonna kick ash

and corporate or no, free booze and music is free booze and music

The "young" people are whining about suing and discrimination and the "old" people got tickets.
I love it.
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 7:15 PM
hey i got in and i'm 21. that's why i still think it's cool to type in all lowercase letters.
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 7:31 PM
i'm 18 and i got in.
also, fuck this (from an update e-mail):
"You can come by anytime - but since all exhibits and performances are pending capacity, we strongly advise that you arrive early to ensure you get to see everything."
debating not going....
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 7:46 PM
I'm 27 and I got in. I think it has nothing to do with age. It's probably based on how early you replied.
Posted by AAA | June 23, 2010 8:34 PM
According to my inside scoop from vice, the determining factor of getting in is how cool your email name is. I got my ticket cuz my email name is amazing... (Hummus.Rocker@gmail.com)
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 8:46 PM
"creators"...the nerve of these guys.
Only a few of these bands are worth seeing, and they are the ones who play shows all the time for practically nothing sans the wankstas/posers
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 9:27 PM
but I have assblaster151@compuserve.net, and i didn't get in :(
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 9:27 PM
Dude you need a throwback hotmail email address like BV! Guaranteed admission.
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 10:10 PM
Okay seriously... what the fuck is the schedule for this thing? I don't give a shit about the two sculptures I can look at on the way into the venue at 2pm. I don't give a shit about Spike Jonze's "movie"- that shit lasts a half hour.
When will the bands be playing? How many people will be let in? Is it worth missing the US World Cup soccer match or will everyone there be hipster douchebags or corporate scumbags?
Damn at this point I think I'm just going to eat this ticket. I'll buy the Animal Collective ODDSAC dvd for $20, catch the free Neon Indian show in August, and reminisce about the time when Interpol was releasing good music.
Posted by Venkman | June 23, 2010 10:54 PM
I got in and am so excited! Would love to see a schedule for performances though.
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 11:33 PM
They will also be showing the U.S. World Cup game at the event.
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 11:34 PM
Can anyone confirm the world cup thing? I don't want to miss the match but I don't trust Vice enough to show up late.
Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2010 11:53 PM
Like all Vice events, getting a ticket doesn't guarantee entry. This will be a shitshow.
Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2010 12:37 AM
this will probably be worse than halloween.
Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2010 1:01 AM
I had a ticket and gave it away because I was going out of town.
Trip cancelled, and now I'm ticketless. Anyone want to have pity on a young photographer and pass along a ticket? I'll pay.
Posted by Makenzie | June 24, 2010 1:05 AM
i'm 47 and i got in. this is probably gonna be worse than vivian girls at santos party house. fuck!
Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2010 1:15 AM
more like creMEHtors project.
Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2010 1:37 AM
if you rsvpd and didnt get it, did they send an email you didnt get it, or did they just ignore you?
Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2010 1:41 AM
Im 64 and got in but I dont want to listen to somebody like Mcanus describe the myriad of novel names for hipsters living in the burg. Commodification culture party kids.
I'll leave my ticket on the floor of Beacons Buffalo toilet so kick ash without me.
Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2010 2:11 AM
There's no line, no RSVP, no admission charge for looking at free titties at Pumps on Grand Street. Beers are expensive and lap dances are $20. I'm old.
Posted by Regular reader | June 24, 2010 1:10 PM
@11:53 pm - The Creators Project said on their Facebook page that they'll have a screen set up for showing the U.S. game.
Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2010 2:43 PM
the rapture play early at 6pm
Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2010 10:10 PM
how about the rest of the bands? any clue on set times?
Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2010 10:58 AM
I'm 12.
Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2010 2:44 PM
shitshow is a valid statement. All those "I got in" are Vice people trying to make it fair because they gave all the tickets to their friends (if they have any). Anyway the whole event is a scam.
Posted by Anonymous | June 27, 2010 1:24 AM
I didn't actually RSVP, but was wandering around the neighborhood and asked a nice couple both wearing wristbands if they were leaving The Creator's Project and planning on not coming back. When they said yes, I asked if they would mind giving me their bracelet, and they just procured an extra that nobody had used. Once I had it on, it was no problem getting in the door, and this was around 9 pm, just when you would expect people to be coming back from Northside for the big headlining acts! Interpol and M.I.A. were incredible, the art galleries not so much. Check out my YouTube page for videos taken when I was pushed right up against the stage (not bad for someone who heard about it at the very last minute)!

BV...have you disabled the comment section on this thread? A previous post of mine didn't show up and I notice that nothing is posting after Becca's from last night.

That answered that question. But now I wonder why my previous comment is being reviewed before being posted?
