Suckers in Prospect Park the other day (more by David Andrako)
Suckers

Mishka, Etnies and something called SEEN (located at seenallover.com) are co-presenting a BBQ/party on Long Island City's Water Taxi Beach (dubbed "Red, White & Brews") this 4th of July. Confirmed music includes Suckers, Beach Fossils, The Death Set and Ninjasonik. There are also lots of DJs and they're promising a "Very Special End Of The Night Performance".

Add this one to the list of music events happening this 4th of July in NYC.

A flyer, more details on the party and all Beach Fossils dates are below...

Red, White & Brews
Red, White & Brews

We've slowly but surely been amping up the magnitude of our parties and after our Los Angeles Opening Party, we knew we had to do something B-I-G back home in New York. And what better time to try that then on the 4th of July?

The party will also be celebrating the launch of a fantastic new website by our dear friends at SEEN. A site that yours truly [My Pal The Crook] will be blogging for on the regular. What is SEEN? Well, all shall be revealed soon enough. But I will say this... you may want to bookmark http://www.seenallover.com/ now...

1pm - 1am
Long Island City Water Taxi Beach
54-32 2nd St.
LIC, NY

ALL AGES! ZERO TOLLERANCE POLICY FOR UNDERAGE DRINKING ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES AND OUTSIDE FOOD AND DRINKS!

So, what's going to be happening at this lavish bash you ask? Well... we're not ready to let that cat out of the bag just yet. But I will tell you that we have an amazing line-up of bands and DJs along with some stellar secret surprises (we can't publicly announce yet) that we'll be revealing in the coming weeks. But if you've been to one of our big bashes, you know you won't be disappointed in who we bring in!

What I can tell you is that the party will be held outdoor at the incredible Water Taxi Beach (yes it's an actual beach, well man made) over in Long Island City, Queens. Seriously, imagine the 4th on the beach with a beautiful Manhattan skyline, fireworks, some brews and your crew as amazing bands and DJs give you the soundtrack of a lifetime.

And as if that wasn't enough, The CBLDF (Comic Book Legal Defense Fund) will be hosting a Live Art Stage featuring Tara McPherson, Molly Crabapple, Khary Randolf, and others. There will also be a display of custom Etnies sneakers featuring original art from Eric Powell, ?????, Jill Thompson, Lisa Hanawalt, David Mack and more!

But you know what the truly best part of it all is? It's FREE. Yes FREE.

Stay tuned for more details and start RSVPing now!

^Are you really that gullible?

Am I missing something with Beach Fossils? I went to see Woven Bones (who I like) last night and saw them for the first time. They were ok, but just the same sloppily played / reverb on everything / have a few semi catchy hooks that has been going in Brooklyn for awhile now.

The crowd (sold out) seemed to treat it as the second coming. Looking at the faces, they seemed to all be the same that started crowding into The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart shows last year.

Maybe just not my thing...it just seems to have a short shelf life.

Kinda like Woven Bones. (I do like both bands.)

i disagree - Woven Bones, while having the same setup (standing drums / reverbed vocals) was tight and driving. The bass playing was on point throughout the entire show / drums (while kinda the same beat) were never loose. Hardly any break between songs, you could tell they had been touring and came to play...

Again, Beach Fossils just did the slacker vibe thing, which I just feel is getting old...don't get me started on the Beets.

@3:08 - OK, fair enough. I'll get to judge for myself tonight!

I also sang at the instrument that he holds in his hand, it's actually very funny! It is good that there are ways out for those who have no exceptional voices, but are passionate about music.
