this band is trying WAY too hard to sound like beach fossils

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 8:34 AM

umm I don't know Beach Fossils 8:34 but shouldn't it be the other way around as Beach Fossils are a newer band?

i was at their show lat night at the national in richmond, va. left at 11pm when the venue announced that due to weather related plane delays the band who not be on stage until midnight. wonder if they ever got there and played a full set..... i guess the moral of the story is don't try to tape a letterman performance in nyc the same day you are playing a venue 6 hrs away.....

I think the young man/woman who is @834 is making a comment about the fickle nature of scenesters and the rapid decline of not only NY's music scene, but the entire music scene in general.

i was at the toads show, it was ok at best. its also cool to see that interpol needs to travel with a tractor trailer to play for 500 people

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 8:47 AM

3 members in sunglasses in a dark studio? we already know you're cool, interpol.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 9:38 AM

uh, YEAH a-hole at 9:38. not, "im a customer i deserve things," but "i paid for a ticket, now show the fuck up and play some music."

I was at the Kurt Vile/Real Estate show above the Interpol show at Toads Place and it sounded lame through the floor boards

i sure hope brandon's vocals are on the record, nice addition to live... anyone know if he's on the album?

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 10:53 AM

They probably got scheduled on Letterman last minute and didn't want to cancel the Richmond show.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 10:55 AM

@10:53 def agree, but i don't think he is cause they said they recorded the album along with carlos d. so i'm def guessing that's before their new additions

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 11:13 AM

adrian zmed on keyboards?

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 11:16 AM

the chorus of this song is so embarrassing. worst thing they've ever written i'd say.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 11:48 AM

@11:16 LMAO doesn't he like do porn now?

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 12:01 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 1:23 PM

Letterman was pretaped on Monday, played no factor in not making a show in Virginia on Thursday.

with our love to admire and now this, it just feels like interpol forgot that their sound was all about sparseness and a groove and intensity. not these little concise pop songs. they're just not as good at this stuff.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 6:37 PM

At minimum 6 and probably 8 of the songs on the new album are about spareness. You are dead right but Interpol seems to have remembered that with the new one, actually. The second half of the new one is about as sparse as it gets.

INTERPOL IS SOOOO COOOOOOOOL!!!!! I <3 INTERPOL!!!!! THEYRE SOOO CHILL AND COOOOOOOL!!!!!

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET THE INTERPOL SUNGLASSES?????????????????????????????????????????????

Posted by stella | July 30, 2010 11:41 PM

I dont know why everyone is bashing on the their new material, IMO this is a good as Interpol gets, being a long time devout fan of theirs...
Sure some of the songs on the new album are slow to get used to but it also has alot of classic interpol M.O.
"Barricade" might as well be their new "Slow Hands" and and songs like "Summer Well" or "Succes" remind me of both the TOTBL and Antics albums.
Great LabumI loved every second of it, down to Paul singing in spanish during "The Undoing"

10/10!!!
