a gigantic LOL at this super lame lineup. we should have figured if the pool party lineup was this bad (i.e. lots of smaller names) that the sub-pool party lineup would be UNKNOWNS like these shits. fuck jelly.

I'm just going for the slip and slide!

"a gigantic LOL at this super lame lineup. we should have figured if the pool party lineup was this bad (i.e. lots of smaller names) that the sub-pool party lineup would be UNKNOWNS like these shits. fuck jelly."

GASP! Unknown bands? Meaning...you might have to discover some new music...fuck that SUCKS!

Posted by Scott | July 13, 2010 5:06 PM

Wow another shitty effortless package. Good work Jelly, you managed to steal some of the "lame suckage" thunder from the Village Voice this week.

And all you "It's free, don't complain" people are invited to suck on my nuts. You stupid fuckers are the ones who add to the crap that is coming from the music scene today. You don't give a shit and have no ability to discern good from bad.

But it's free right? Dumb idiots.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 5:11 PM

Total Slacker is the worst band playing in NYC right now, and maybe EVER. I'm not surprised to seem them on this incredibly lame list of really bad bands. Jelly, you are awful.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 5:15 PM

Skeletons was one of the best/most awkward shows I've been to. Haven't seen them again in four years. Looking forward to this.

FUCK THE HATERRZ

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 5:23 PM

Jelly is still a complete abortion of a company, but I'll gladly tip my hat to them for bringing Bun B to town. Bun fucking B!

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 5:24 PM

Are those bands real? Seems like a gimmick to me.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 5:28 PM

@5:05

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 5:40 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 6:21 PM

Line ups, whatev. everyone will be high on drugs and completely wasted on good beer. Should be fun.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 6:29 PM

priestbird is good, everything else... meh.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 6:36 PM

I never complain, but seriously, this is a pretty lame lineup.
I think there full name is "grape jelly"
grape jelly = everyones least favorite.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 6:58 PM

Yea. I don't like grape jelly... I prefer rasberry.
But have you ever tried a peanut butter and huumus sandwhich? It's truly a magical experience.

they're staging these shows at the last known whereabouts of jack bauer.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 7:23 PM

special guest = the strokes

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 7:50 PM

LAME

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 7:50 PM

why are there so many free shows?

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 9:08 PM

8====> (())

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 10:01 PM

It's great that the shows are free and that the bands are getting a (big?) break with these gigs. That doesn't take away from the fact that, although I read BV every day, I cannot recall ever hearing of a single one of these bands. That makes me wonder whether this is worthy of posting here -- what's the difference if one of us puts together one of our own mini-festivals like this without the Jelly name on it? We'd probably get some great bands, too, none of which you will ever heard of. Promoting a lame event like this adds nothing to the site and in fact detracts from the reader experience.

Posted by Brian | July 13, 2010 11:45 PM

Brian, you "read BV every day" but have never heard of Total Slacker??

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 11:53 PM

Hey Brian @ 11:45 PM

Zaza (August 28th) just played the BrooklynVegan Northside show.

Frankie and the Outs and The Beets are not only covered on BV, but were covered in other posts on the same day this flyer was posted.

etc

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2010 11:59 PM

...or The Beets, Frankie and the Outs, or Zaza?

Throw Beach Fossils, Vivian Girls and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart on here and you have a BV Hate Hoedown.

Or just throw any band on - it doesn't matter...the waters of hatred run deep here, the annonymous ears are always open for new editions.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 12:00 AM

The "pool parties" is like a downgraded version of what they used to be and this is like a down graded version of Todd ps old sxsw stuff at ms Bea's, good work guys, thanks for keeping free music on new York

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 7:22 AM

Absolutely awful. None of these are attractive at all.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 12:18 PM

It's a free country... I can hate in any band I want to.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 12:27 PM

I think no matter what kind of music you listen to, you will find Yanni Live at the Acropolis BREATHTAKING. fer reeealz. seriously.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 12:54 PM

Rumors are that BLUR is one of the "special guests" at the closing Pool Party show this summer.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 12:59 PM

KILLER HUMMUS!

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 1:18 PM

someone needs to explain this to me...

first you take a ridiculous amount of corporate sponsorship money. you throw logos on shit, you have sales booths onsite, you go the whore route whole hog.

but then, you take all that money you use it to book what look like Party Expo Tuesday night lineups?

how the heck are they not buying better talent with all that selling out money?

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 1:28 PM

welcome to new york

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 1:37 PM

I hope i get free Dickies

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 2:36 PM

1:28pm

coz dumbasses are going to go to these show regardless. why bother to buy 'better' (read: bigger) talent

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 3:22 PM

no. "better" does not 'read' "bigger"

better means not mediocre garbage.

these lineups are random bullshit.

if you're going to court and spend corporate money, use it to get something worthwhile

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 3:40 PM

i dunno. couple of free shows i dont care about, but i like xray eyeballs a lot, and frankie rose rules, and i would (and probably will) enjoy seeing both of those bands for free. i liked the band priestbird used to be - drawing a blank on the name right now - and they were great live when i saw them in like 2005. maybe they suck now, i don't know.

i guess it's not worth reading the comments on bveg if you're not really bitter. i like reading the comments about drake, because who doesn't love some good race-baiting, but these just suck. tons of random hate over nothing.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 8:46 PM

little bands playing for big brand names

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 10:06 PM

god, look at these corporate titans!!!

Dickies, Jelly, Veoba, Six Point, Lagunitas, Less Artists More Condos, The Meat Hook, Newtown Radio, and Band of Bicycles.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2010 11:30 PM

"god, look at these corporate titans!!!

Dickies, Jelly, Lagunitas"

there i fixed it for you, granted lagunitas may only be a little bigger than our brooklyn brewery(if at all) but since they're from the other side of the country and dropping bucks here i'd say that that's def corporate money, Less Artists more Condos is great, they're the only promotor i can think of that's done dumber shit than you in the past year....thanks jelly, and thanks for the list of your rock yard sponsors

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2010 6:22 AM

haha

look how far less artists more condos have moved away from the politics that made them pick their eye roll inducing name.

(not very much) money and (not very much) fame really turns people into whores

dickies, which are made in overseas sweatshops, and lagunitas, a "microbrew" brewed and distributed by anheuser-busch. nice partners.

a lot bit to condos than to artists, just sayin

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2010 10:24 AM

a thing i noticed: on the flyer you can see the "Scientific Labratories" logo, which is a rehearsal space on that block. So most of these bands are probably the ones that rehearse in that space. Some good, some bad, but all go in with passion. .This event will probably be very neighborhood oriented..(even Bun B!) - If you are into researching new music, fuck it, look into some of these bands you might have the next Crystal howlin wolf band in front of your fat eyes!

Posted by Dick Blick | July 15, 2010 1:16 PM

*yawn*

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2010 1:32 PM

picking bands at random who happen to practice in a certain rehearsal space facility is an excellent way to find mediocre vanity projects

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2010 1:48 PM

"why are there so many free shows?"

son, some questions you just don't ask.
