Murder City Devils owned it! So good. Obits was underwhelming. It was baffling! "I Blame You" Is such an awesome record from the band. Such strange song selection. Key songs missing. Where was "Widow of My Dreams" , "Pine on", "Fake Kindade", Lillies in the street"????? Opinions?

I preferred the new Obits songs to the ones I've been hearing them play for the past 2 years, so you know, there's that.

Jake has been sick with the flu all weekend, pretty sure it was torture for him to play today. JEFF were gonna play DBA tonight too with Heavy Cream and Splinters. Felt bad for him, he was not having fun.

I'd hit it.

silverghost sucks.

awesome that you included pictures of bikes, cos thats art.

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2010 3:38 AM

how were the lines?

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2010 9:23 AM

not bad at all, i think the heat stopped most of the poseurs from showing up.

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2010 9:36 AM

this was way less crowded than i thought it would be. i was sort of baffled by obits' song selection too, but it was still fine. it turns out MCD have a really idiotic fanbase, but i guess i already knew that.

I agree about Obits---they're always boring. It's never Rick's fault. It's the accountants he plays with. Sohrab should never sing. In fact, he should never leave his desk for the stage.

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2010 10:07 AM

it was so empty even the port-o-potty's were clean...

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2010 10:23 AM

sohrab is probably the nicest guy in rock music.

i skipped the show because i didnt like the obits lp...was wayyyy too polished than the live, earlier versions. i heard their new songs are fantastic though.

any idea if cap n' jazz are headlining next week? what time does the headliner go on?

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2010 10:30 AM

obits are ZZzzzZ live. always

capn'jazz is hradling. prob around 6 pr 6:30

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2010 10:46 AM

headlining*

marcy bolen (ex-vonbondies) is the girl in silverghost. as much as i love rick's older bands, seeing obits a couple times in the past few years has been enough for awhile. i agree that the record sounds a bit too polished. nightmarchers at maxwells was probably the way to go.

"it turns out MCD have a really idiotic fanbase, but i guess i already knew that."

@Scott9:41am - Meaning what...they like to dance and have a good time? Exactly what behavior was so darn objectionable to you?

Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2010 12:15 PM

It was 95 degrees yesterday and they were confiscating and making people dump out their water that they were trying to bring in, just so they can sell tiny $2 a bottle water. That should be illegal! Especially during a heat advisory!

Posted by Kaite | July 19, 2010 12:40 PM

I didn't know Ryan Dunne had a band

Does anybody know the name of the song they played directly before Broken Glass? I am pretty sure it's a new track. The chorus says something about peanut gallery. Or something.

Posted by eric | July 19, 2010 10:11 PM

12:45 you can thank OSA for that.

Posted by Anonymous | July 20, 2010 2:43 PM

night marchers was fucking great, for the whole 45 people that went...speedo again proved to be the best.

obits new material sounded good to me, they rocked it, perfect sound for an overly hot day...very welcome new material...lookin forward to their next record, which I suppose will be out before year's end?
