It was too humid for this...

i thought both bands played really well despite some technical/sound issues. it wasn't too hot unless you're a huge vag. the crowd didn't seem all that into it though, especially the group of kids smoking pot who so rudely did not offer me any

the pier was decently filled with people. 3000, maybe a few less. sweet ass show.

I agree with 10:03, both bands played well, but whoever was doing sound seemed to not really what he/she was doing. There was constant (noticeable) volume tweaking during songs which was distracting, particularly during Dawes. All in all, it was a cool show and glad those bands were booked for something like this.

i feel like a lot of people left after dawes - i think their crowd was bigger than phosphorescent's. overall, though, a great night of free music on the pier. love it.

Phosphorescent was much better last night than they were opening for Dr. Dog at Prospect Park last summer. The band was super-tight -- you can tell months and months on the road are paying dividends. Good loose jangly atmospheric tunes with some sweet warm vocal harmonies. Perfect for a summer night. I'd see em again and pay for the privilege. If only the singer Matthew could deflate his "Easy Rider" ego ever so slightly.

Dawes was more gracious, had some solid singalongs, and a few true shredder peaks to justify that guitar face. The drummer made some interesting facial expressions as well. These guys have potential.

Oh and the Luke's Lobster Roll was out of this world.

What time did the free hummus run out?

Wonderful post and the location is beautiful and elegant in design and information and everything>>> to Favorites
Amazing is an enormous understatement. One of the best electronic shows I've ever been to and I've seen well over a thousand concerts. I had no idea Vladislav Delay was as good a drummer & percussionist as he is- fabulous and he kept everything swinging with a very unique style of playing. If you missed this you missed out big time...
