Posted by bob | July 25, 2010 3:42 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 3:50 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 3:50 PM

there's a line around the block, it's worthless

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 4:03 PM

Posted by bob | July 25, 2010 4:21 PM

what time does Daft Punk go on?

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 4:26 PM

Wow. Its barely raining now and they moved this. What a bunch of pussies!

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 4:29 PM

Daft Punk don't go on because they're playing at my house right now

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 4:34 PM

Heard just one of the acts is playing now? Sup with that?

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 4:35 PM

glad i got tkts for maxwells. i'll probably still take a swing by brooklyn bowl in a bit to check out the line/capacity rumor.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 4:39 PM

Wait a sec. People are exited to watch Beach Fossils in this chaotic setting? Haven't you had 40 opportunities times over the past year to see them without the chaos?

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 4:39 PM

cant believe im not going to see lightning bolt today :(

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 4:39 PM

dear jelly,
thanks for ruining my sunday with your poor planning.
fuck you,
-everyone who was gonna be at the waterfront

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 4:42 PM

beach fossils? fuck yeah

Posted by Joe | July 25, 2010 4:43 PM

fuck u jelly. way to fail.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 4:55 PM

I just got denied entry. It sucks but I wouldn't say it was poor planning. It wasn't rain, it was lightning. Either BK bowl or nothing.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 4:55 PM

Too bad 4:55, Yellow Fever is killin it up here

Posted by bob | July 25, 2010 4:58 PM

I wonder if there is a chance that a flood of LightningBolt fans will leave after their set, therefore making room for more Cap'n Jazz people?

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 4:59 PM

lightning bolt is NOT playing today

Posted by Geddy Lee | July 25, 2010 5:02 PM

no shit 5:02, yellow fever is playing

Posted by bob | July 25, 2010 5:06 PM

iggy is headlining.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:12 PM

Post updated with new set times. Ignore all the idiots above saying that the lineup has changed.

Posted by brooklynvegan | July 25, 2010 5:16 PM

I told you fuckers that Cap'n Jazz would be playing Maxwell's!

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:27 PM

lots of idiot kids next to me, bv.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:27 PM

^are you next to BV then?

Posted by Geddy Lee | July 25, 2010 5:28 PM

Thanks for the update BV. Heading to the Bowl now.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:29 PM

another disaster. probably 3,000 people turned away.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:30 PM

"Thanks for the update BV. Heading to the Bowl now."

No problem, but go at your own risk! (capacity / long line risk)

Posted by brooklynvegan | July 25, 2010 5:33 PM

this was at capacity as soon as it was moved. most of the people that were down at the waterfront were turned away. great planning!

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:36 PM

LIGHTNING BOLT PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLAY ANOTHER SHOW PLEASE

also, no age

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:37 PM

Are they still letting people on the VIP list in?

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:37 PM

Jelly doesn't give a fuck. As long as they can take pictures of your hot (or ugly) girlfriend staning in front of their sponsors car, they are totally happy. This was another bullshit job by a bunch of bullshit people.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:37 PM

clusterfuck of epic proportions

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:38 PM

sweet, lineup of the summer performs at a 21+ venue for the 200 tools who ran to the brooklyn bowl before everyoe else. this is awesome, sweet, and cool. its definitely not at all retarded and they definitely should NOT have gone back to the waterfront. those 200 people who did not have to wait for any friends deserve the hell out of this.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:40 PM

the rain went exactly as planned-from 3 to 4, and then it stopped, also as planned. couldn't someone have checked a forecast beforehand?

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:41 PM

I would say about 70% of the people at the waterfront were turned away once they announced the show was moving to brooklyn bowl. Disaster indeed. The rain stopped after 30 minutes and there wasn't even any lightning to be seen. They should of waited it out.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:42 PM

Brooklyn Bowl has a 600 person capacity. even with every trust fund bribe there is, and people leaving after they've seen whatever band pitchfork told them to go see, the chances of getting in are like 0. know some body or bring some money.

i can't even believe people are saying fuck cap'n jazz. are you a kid cause even if you don't like them they still are the reason you can listen to the dancefloor pop bands, which all sound the same, that is now apparently indie rock.

post script. from what i've heard the maxwell show is just cap'n no jazz. it ain't no secret, it's $20.

Posted by julie | July 25, 2010 5:50 PM

what the fuck happened to "rain or shine"? it was raining for maybe 40 minutes (with no lightning or anything), and then it was fine. so pissed i have to miss this now after getting on that line at the waterfront so early in the heat

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:51 PM

such a shitshow! can we just ban all fuckin Jelly activities already. I for one feel like saying "fuck you" back at them.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:55 PM

So the only good show these cunt rags announce thus summer gets rained out. Let us be thankful when there are a hundred cases of date rape at the Cut Copy and Chromeo shows and Jelly finally rots in incompetency.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 5:58 PM

no cap'n jazz at maxwells??? PLEASE CONFIRM

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:00 PM

people are acting like they're surprised that this turned into a shitty farce show.

waterfront = bad news
jelly = bad news
waterfront + jelly = very bad news

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:01 PM

It's twenty bucks at Maxwell's. Suck it up, really and stop bitching that you did not get in at the free gig. I'm sure mommy or daddy won't mind if you take some extra money out this week

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:04 PM

You people are really just a bunch of spoiled, narcissistic twats. You know what sucks? What happened in Germany yesterday. You know what doesn't suck? A bunch of disappointed spoiled, narcissistic crackers.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:12 PM

Guest list only at Brooklyn bowl?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fuck YOU!!!!!! I wiped my ass with your guest list!

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:14 PM

Fuck Jelly. There was no lightning, it was just windy for a little while with rain. They said it themselves they would only move it if there was lightning. What a great way to dampen my Sunday. Hopefully Lightning Bolt play a guerilla gig somewhere.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:14 PM

if you ran over and risked killing yourself in the process (like me, probably a bad call in retrospect), you would've made it in. no age is wrapping up now. i really hope the police go after jelly for the dangerous situation they created.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:16 PM

lol, no age has been rained out of pool parties two years in a row. lolz

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:16 PM

stimmt.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:18 PM

lol at Jelly curators saying mommy and daddy and trust fundies and whatever in here while a bunch of stupid tools and guest list assholes watch a killer lineup that everyone based their sunday upon. hope all your Oatmeal Stout mugs explode and some shards get in some ugly guy's beard

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:20 PM

SO CLOSE AND YET SO FAR!!! Think about how many douchebag hipsters could have been wiped out in one fell swoop if only a bigger stampede to the bowling alley could have been engineered... fuck you, Jelly, for not creating a massacre out of this.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:23 PM

the insanely long jelly guestlist (which is 50% bloggers / photographers) is probably why bk bowl is at about half capacity right now. sure the majority have either gone home or are still at the "vip" thing at the waterfront.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:24 PM

Wasn't there a rain out last year? What bands were involved?

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:27 PM

last year's rainout: dan deacon, no age, deerhunter round-robin. was cancelled before the park gates opened, and made up twice that night at bk bowl.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:31 PM

Was there really lightning? The were no thunderstorms in the area. How could there have been any lightning?

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:43 PM

definitely no lightning

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:51 PM

and the sun shines now... good one.
We call it "the weather forecast", it helps make educated decisions about impending storms.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:52 PM

the jelly twitter shit is telling us that lightning bolt is playing at 8:30, ......is this true? why would they not play? it must be true!! and fuck you jelly belly! awesome planning!

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:52 PM

It's a blessing to everyone that jelly didn't have to run their full shit show at the waterfront and to them that they never had to face that their most buzzed about show of the summer only draws 2 or 3 thousand kids and not the ten thousand that is their capacity, this series is dying in a sad way, I'll miss it when it's gone

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:54 PM

All "hipster comments aside" who wouldn't be upset over the poor planning for a band that hasn't played in well over a decade. It sucks that a large amount of people won't experience cap'n jazz. See you at maxwells if you're there

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 6:56 PM

its a really beautiful day outside right now, capn jazz would just be finishing up if those jelly employees werent so quick to cancel. that was some annoying bullshit. i just swang by bk bowl after being on line for nothing earlier and lots of photographer people were walking right in while a steady crowd was moaning and groaning. jelly employees walking around being self righteous assholes.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 7:15 PM

@Anon6:23pm - Your lousy attempt at humor is not funny, clever or profound, especially in light of yesterday's tragic stampede in Germany.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 7:15 PM

still at cap?

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 7:20 PM

yes, still at capacity. i'm leaving in 25 minutes, so someone should get in to see the next two bands. i think a lot of people will leave after cap'n jazz.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 7:35 PM

Earlier I wrote in defense of Jelly. They work hard to put on free shows and people still find something to bitch about. It's free. And if you don't like the line up don't go. Simple as that. But I retract my previous defense of today. I understand they didn't want what happened to the modest mouse show where no one gets to see it but they pulled the trigger too soon. The forecast said it would clear up and it has. Now Jelly doesn't owe us anything. When these shows fill up they fill up. Nothing you can do. But if word would've gotten out sooner about the BK bowl I would've been there way earlier. They've advertised to host 7,000 people for this event and they should've done everything possible to do so.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 7:36 PM

so whats the situation now? lightning bolt is about to play. are some folks leaving? and are more people being allowed in?

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 7:47 PM

I can't help thinking that if Jelly didn't have Cap'n Jazz in their summer lineup, the band would've played a ticketed, better organized, openly publicized, guaranteed show in New York. What a waste. Reading the stream of "wow this cap jazz band is good" tweets from people who have never heard of the band before and got into Brooklyn Bowl is enraging.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 8:09 PM

i wouldn't blame jelly for this. pretty sure the cops/state shut them down at the waterfront which seems like it was a dumb mistake since it really didn't rain hard and didn't seem like there was any lightning. as someone who was on the guest list and despises the circle jerk that is the industry, i can definitely say that allowing there to be a guest list to BK Bowl is stupid, and none of us guests were informed, so i waited on line with everybody else and left when it was clear i wan't getting in. 90% of the guest list was at their party house drinkin and schmoozing/caring far too little about music to come to BK Bowl anyway. pretty disappointed right now. but that's how the media industry works.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 8:22 PM

are they allowing people not on the guest list in now? i dont wanna miss the deathset.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 8:25 PM

8:25,
i'm not sure. had no idea they were letting guest list in until i was back in red hook, which makes getting back in time impossible

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 8:35 PM

i'm assuming they're letting anyone in now. there was no line after the place cleared out post cap'n jazz.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 8:40 PM

Why do I have to travel to New Jersey to see a band that just played for free 8 blocks from my home?

Oh right, morons.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 8:48 PM

8:48 - the maxwells show sold out about 20 minutes ago.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 9:16 PM

Why do I have to travel to New Jersey to see a band that just played for free 8 blocks from my home?
Oh right, morons.
-------------------------

Because assuming that you were waiting in line at 3pm to about 4:40pm, you didn't stay when you should have. The place was not 'at capacity'. The people who ran the place told the cops to tell people that so that a big chuck would leave. It you fell for dumb ass lies, that sucks for you man. I stayed and they let everyone else that stayed who came from the park in. And here's the funny part, when we got in, the place was NOT at capacity haha. That shit was hilarious. Badly managed, I admit, but patience goes a long way.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2010 9:39 PM

velvet ropes and a guest list at a bowling alley? thanks jelly, nyc cops, open spaces, doorman, and poseurs who got in that never heard the bands and just to get pictures taken and socialize. thanks jelly for letting actual people/ fans who came for the music not the hype or publicity. also eff 21+ when you guys let 15yr old girls in.
