The Frames...
The Frames

The Swell Season (the duo of Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová) came through NYC for two nights at Radio City in January, and played an even more intimate show at 92YTribeca in September. They'll be here again for a free Celebrate Brooklyn show on Friday, July 30th with the Low Anthem.

Ireland's The Frames, Glen's band since well before he was in the Swell Season, haven't played New York in quite a while (since 2007). They'll change on Saturday, November 20th when they play a show at Terminal 5. Tickets go on AmEx presale Wednesday at 11am. General sale starts Friday at noon.

The Frames are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year. Their only other date currently is Electric Picnic in Stradbally, Ireland, September 4th-6th. Videos and all Swell Season tour dates (quite a bit in North America & Brazil this summer, then Europe in October) are below...

Are they Re-Touring or Returning? I'm not sure Returing is a word!

Posted by Spell Check | July 27, 2010 2:01 PM

re-touring, returning or retiring - which is it bv?

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:05 PM

Glen is a cool guy and The Frames are great I wish them well..saw them at Webster last time through and it was a wonderful show!

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:06 PM

"returning"
fixed, thanks!

Posted by brooklynvegan | July 27, 2010 2:13 PM

would love to see the frames, but not at t5

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:21 PM

wow, T5 hate? didn't see that one coming.

some of you need to get the fuck over yourselves....not every band can play the bowery ballroom. terminal 5 has excellent balcony seating now and watching a show from up there is awesome. the sound has improved ten fold. its still huge, which no one likes, but come on - if you like a band and want to see them live, go out and support them! lighten up, you douches, and learn to have some fun.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:30 PM

Terminal 5? No thanks. Hopefully they will do an east coast tour so that I can either go to Philly or Boston.

First time I saw the Frames was in a tiny bar in Boston. 100 people at most. One of the best shows that I have even seen.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:31 PM

Right on 2:30..

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:31 PM

@230, Terminal 5 sucks

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:31 PM

smells like there's a bowery presents employee in here, what rubbish. "excellent balcony seating" and a "ten-fold sound improvement?" put down the crack pipe, dude.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:37 PM

2:31..you must be a disgruntled former employee to post the same stuff in every thread regarding T5. Give it a rest and get a new job!

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:38 PM

these T5 bashers wouldn't see a re-formed beatles if they played at T5 (assuming john and george weren't dead, as opposed to paul who is).

btw, i first saw the silver beatles at the cavern club in liverpool - one of the best shows i have ever seen.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:46 PM

I think the T5 bashers all secretly attend shows at T5 andyway, but just like to bitch.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:49 PM

I think anyone who defends T5 is either a venue stakeholder in some way, or is deaf and blind.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:51 PM

2:51 in your dreams...when is the last time you saw a show there..opening weekend?

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:53 PM

I bash T5, but have made it there five or six times for shows. Each time, the venue has negatively impacted enjoying the show. I'll continue going to that shitty venue when bands I love are booked there. But i'll still call it what is: a fucking shit venue.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 2:53 PM

If you're praising Terminal 5, you are either an idiot who does not know any better or you just don't care. Bowery Presents single-handedly ruined the NYC music scene with that venue. I used to have a problem with Hammerstein and Roseland before T5 opened, but it was never a big deal because mostly mainstream fratboy bands played there. Now everybody who is worth seeing and can draw a good size crowd plays at T5. The only good that came out of that is I am spending considerably less money on shows.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 3:00 PM

3:00...if you believe what you said you are a closed minded fool. I am glad people like you are not at the show so more people can attend. The shows sell out no problem at T5 so you will not be missed. I admit it has a lot of room for improvement but it has improved since day 1 , they book quality acts and parking is easy!

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 3:03 PM

As long as we're making stuff up...A reformed beatles would never play T5 . I imagine they'd be playing at MSG or Giants Stadium.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 3:04 PM

Parking? I knew people who are going to T5 had to be coming from Jersey.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 3:05 PM

good call 3:05

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 3:09 PM

this show should be at town hall or beacon.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 3:18 PM

I am taking the train to Philly

Posted by LKJ | July 27, 2010 3:28 PM

3:05 got it

Only people from Jersey would defend a horrible place

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 3:34 PM

the guy who keeps defending it is clearly a bowery presents intern

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 3:38 PM

if its not a dance show or a moshpit show, then a standing room venue sucks.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 3:49 PM

"parking is easy!"

Damn.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 3:52 PM

I have never seen the Frames at a seated venue. Mercury/Bowery/South Street Seaport/wherever, they rock!

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 4:09 PM

Wow. Parking. Go back to Jersey ya moron.

Yes T5 is terrible for visuals, sound, and lay-out. But the sincere-but-nevertheless-outrageous defense of it via parking reminds me of the other great terrible offense put on by Terminal 5 - access via public transit. The most remote venue in the entire city.

Parking. Holy shit.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 4:41 PM

People drive from other boroughs of NYC to shows morons!

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 5:05 PM

I live close to Terminal 5, yet after I tried it several times, I decided not to go back. Calling it "the most remote venue in the entire city" is a little ridiculous though. I know many here live in Lower East Side / Brooklyn, but it's in midtown for God's sakes. I'm OK with going anywhere between United Palace and Bell House as long as it's a place worth going to and Terminal 5 isn't.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 5:15 PM

"The most remote venue in the entire city."

Not true. There are far worse places like United Palace and all the shows in Bushwick.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 5:15 PM

DERRRR LOOKS LIKE I'M TAKIN THE TRAIN TO PHILLY

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 5:19 PM

why all the animosity towards New Jersey? half of you are probably from iowa or some shit anyway.

Terminal 5 is quite close to the Lincoln Tunnel (for our friends in NJ) and right off of the hudson parkway for those coming from the Bronx or up north. for those people, parking is important. get over it. not everybody is a hipster douchebag on a bike (thank god).

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 5:25 PM

Iowa > Jersey, for the record.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 5:39 PM

"not everybody is a hipster douchebag on a bike (thank god)."

ftw, love it!

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 5:47 PM

yeah thank god people drive cars.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 5:55 PM

5:39 oh my..get a life...you can live in Iowa I would take Jersey any day..and yes I have been to Iowa!

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 6:16 PM

I also avoid shows that are at Terminal 5. Saw The Frames many years back and they are def. worth it - if I´d never seen them I´d put up with T5 but I have.

I´d be going to this if it was at pretty much any other venue.

Defending Terminal 5 because of people that drive to shows - I´m speechless.

Posted by Anonymous | July 27, 2010 6:34 PM

Dale Frame

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2010 1:27 AM

T5 blah blah blah.
more importantly - what time do people think you need to get on line at Prospect Park this friday to get a seat?

Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2010 2:01 AM

Well...this show was enough me to go to the East Coast from California for Thanksgiving. I think I can legitimately call the venue remote. Maybe they'll go through LA so I can drive 90 miles to see them in Hollywood. I'm stoked to see them even if the venue isn't A+.

Posted by Anonymous | August 3, 2010 6:35 PM

Iowa is the most magical of all places in the Entire World.
