The Love Language @ Mercury Lounge
Mercury Lounge

The Love Language headlined what was their record release show at Mercury Lounge in NYC last night (7/15). "Libraries" is out on Merge Records now. Opening for the North Carolina band were current Brooklyn resident (ex-North Carolina resident) Nightdogs (being billed as Tim Poovy), Silver Lake's Pepper Rabbit (Amanda's surprise hit act of the night), and ARMS (who you should know fairly well by now).

ARMS and Pepper Rabbit may have seemed randomly placed on the same bill, but in fact they go way back. Well, maybe not way back but Pepper Rabbit remixed ARMS' song "Heat and Hot Water" sometime before last night, and you can grab it for free for the first time ever right now above.

Pepper Rabbit are currently on tour with Candy Claws who they played Glasslands with one night earlier. More pictures from the Mercury Lounge show below...

Fantastic show! Every band was awesome and The Love Language sounds better and better every time I see them.

so glad your photog wasn't the fucking tool standing in front of my on the right of the monitors. between taking 80,000 versions of the same bad picture every few minutes, with all of his settings on auto other than occasionally turning on the flash, all he did was check his email on his phone.

during the last 30 seconds of the last song of their encore, he must've taken well over a hundred pictures alone. look asshole - if you haven't gotten the shot you want in the preceding 600,000 pictures you've taken, it's because you're a fucking bad photog, not because you need to suck all of the positive energy around you out of the air by taking even more shitty pictures.

^ other than that guy though, great show. super-nice-seeming people in the band, played basically all of their music, and sounded great.

2:36 - Glad I wasn't the only one pissed off by that guy! I took his picture for the purpose of potential public shaming. Also, glad I'm not a "fucking tool." I hope.

Maybe he took this picture: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/chase-hoffberger/the-love-language-whip-up_b_649057.html. Although this looks like it was taken with a camera phone.

He kept laying down/leaning back on one of the monitors. I secretly wanted him to knock it off the stage so he'd get kicked out.

wow...

i was taking shots in the front (though definitely not the guy in the white shirt). didn't realize i pissed everyone off - i apologize if i upset / irritated anyone. its clear it was bush league. i was asked to take some shots for a friend who loves the love language who couldn't make it (hospital) with whom i was texting re the songs. the show was amazing -- i feel badly that this is what people are commenting about more than the bands. infinitely, my bad.
