The Morning Benders
Black Keys and Morning Benders at Summerstage

"With tonight's show, [The Black Keys] started off with the two of them, then added a few backing musicians for the new tunes. The new stuff lit a match for the night because when it's just the two of them in a venue of thousands of people, you tend to want something with a little more energy and activity.

I didn't plan on going to either gig tonight, but extra tickets were given to me. Ding dong, I'll take them. I was late getting there and arrived when Morning Benders announced their standard, "We have two songs left." Thus, I was stuck in the back. Let me tell you, I've been spoiled with my small shows, photo passes and being upfront, because standing in the back sucks. Especially at SummerStage because Rumsey Playfield slopes down to allow for drainage. DRAAAAAAAAAINAGE, ELI!" [Music Snobbery]

The Black Keys and The Morning Benders played their second show in a row at Central Park Summerstage in NYC last night (7/28), and now they're off on tour.

For the Black Keys it was their first show of the night. They played Terminal 5 later last night. All three NYC shows sold out well in advance. It's only a matter of time before they join the ranks of Phoenix and Arcade Fire as MSG headliners (they opened for Pearl Jam at the big venue in May).

Why is the Keys' drummer always looking to his right in practically every picture? Was there a TV with a baseball game on or something? A topless chick? This issue needs attention.

Set list?

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2010 11:18 AM

Topless chick and a ballgame.

BEYOND ignorant statement right there.

and Patrick's looking to his right because he looking at Dan. dur.

I also sat outside, BK sounded great.

$6 a beer?.... damn. Sitting just behind the fence is solid, bring your own food and beers and the sound is clear. Good crowd out there last night, probably around 200 people.

It was good to hear the new stuff off "Brothers"....especially "Ten Cent Pistol".

except Dan's on his left

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2010 12:04 PM

No, Patrick was set up on the left side, Dan on the right. Setlist? Particularly enjoyed that they played 'strange times' and the jam off twilight soundtrack. I dont recall them playing either at previous shows.

Yes. He is to my left. He looks at me. I don't look at him. I look at ballgame and topless chick (usually in that order).

Posted by BKDrummer | July 29, 2010 12:14 PM

I also look at topless chick

the talent is exponentially better at prospect park shows than summerstage shows. if you aren't convinced, just ask yourself if there is anything close to "redhead in white dress" in these pictures.

as an aside, i was riding my bike around c.park around the time this show ended. to the dirty hipster who called me a douschbag (not sure if it was because i was rode past you too close or because i wasn't riding a fixie), i hope i hit you next time and that in your afterlife there is no redhead in a white dress. you suck.

FYI, buying 6 beers at once doesn't take longer than buying 1 beer when the beers are in cans and not on draught. The lines were long b/c there aren't enough servers. So please stop blaming us 6 beers drinkers.

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2010 12:55 PM

where is this redhead you speak of?

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2010 12:55 PM

Gingers don't have souls.

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2010 1:25 PM

what picture can the topless chick be found?

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2010 3:04 PM

i also would like to know about the topless picture
