what a shitty lineup

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:25 PM

Pretty solid lineup, I have to say!

Super Special Guests are probably Animal Collective

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:26 PM

Oh yeah this is Much better!!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:26 PM

Lame compared to fake line-up. REALLY happy to see Cut Copy on there though.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:27 PM

Not as amazing holy shit wtf as the fake lineup, but it's still pretty good.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:28 PM

super special guests are probably someone big who's got bowery presents shows coming up = Interpol

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:30 PM

This is an awesome line-up - !!!, Delorean, Cut Copy - wow.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:32 PM

"what a shitty lineup'

You're an idiot and should move back in with your mom, probably still live with her, or at the very least you still have an allowance.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:34 PM

Underwhelming lineup. Nobody here on the level of Dirty Projectors/Grizzly Bear last year. This shit is too dance-y.

Posted by GOD. | July 1, 2010 6:34 PM

^ Dirty Projectors sounded like shit last year.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:36 PM

This lineup is FRESHHHHH!!!!! Better than the fake one, save for Iggy!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:37 PM

"Super Special Guests" means they havent booked a headliner yet

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:40 PM

Oh, also on July 18th there will be a tent where your mom will be giving free handjobs.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:40 PM

Xiu Xiu and Deerhoof play Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures
Why?

Yes, why indeed. But there's some good free stuff here.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:41 PM

Booked your mom as a special guest

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:42 PM

YOUCH. its over people.
please stop.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:42 PM

There will be free face painting by Chromeo so get there early kids.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:43 PM

Deerhoof!?!? Hell yeah!!! Awesome lineup this year, definitely worth the wait.

Posted by kskill | July 1, 2010 6:44 PM

Cut Copy playing same night The XX free show central park.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:48 PM

AT least they won't have to worry about overcrowding this year.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:48 PM

They have conveniently used the Block Party/Brooklyn Bowl show as the cut-off point for good shows. Anyone attending the August shows should give up on life. First three shows have epic potential though.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:49 PM

Super special guests = Hanson

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:56 PM

CHROMEO!!!! CUT COPY!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 6:59 PM

and of course, the best one is the same day as the xx.

xx > the whole lineup.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:00 PM

strange boys and lee fields -sick! then bail early before gay !!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:02 PM

Good to see TBA making another appearance at the Pool Parties this year.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:02 PM

murder city devils! finally a good band. strange boys are great too

Posted by J | July 1, 2010 7:03 PM

awesome

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:03 PM

Stereogum took down http://stereogum.com/427951/jelly-pool-parties-lineup-2010/news/

Now it just reads:

"The page you're looking for cannot be found.

The link you clicked on was either misspelled or is out of date. Try using the search box below to find what you are looking for."

And http://www.thepoolparties.com still reads "ALMOST DONE!!!"

Could it be the *second* fake line-up of the day?

Posted by machuka | July 1, 2010 7:08 PM

xx is good on record. Live = meh. Get over it.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:08 PM

That first show is siiiiiick

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:09 PM

weak

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:09 PM

xx eats a kielbasa

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:09 PM

pollock eats a kielbasa

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:18 PM

There isn't single show here that I feel is a must see. Is there a single band on the list that can fill a venue larger than Bowery Ballroom?

There is nothing the caliber of The Hold Steady, MGMT, Breeders etc.

I will probably go to most of the shows, because I enjoy going, and they are free, but overall, I am underwhelemed.

Posted by MehMehMeh | July 1, 2010 7:21 PM

Cut Copy sold out terminal 5

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:23 PM

are you complaining about these free shows? move to denver!!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:24 PM

Hey 6:40 - No shit sherlock

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:27 PM

IS this really what we were waiting for? Yes it is free but still this line up is a huge MEH. Anyone raving about this is a complete hipster idiot know nothing.

Also, The Pool Parties are done by 7-7:30. The XX show starts at 8 with openers ya fucking dummies.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:33 PM

What the heck. Is this real or what?

Stereogum linked to Jelly NYC blog but then when I clicked on it, the page had been deleted. I guess it is(?)

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:33 PM

Actually let me amend my comment. The XX starts at 7 but either way they will not go on till around 9

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:34 PM

The first show and Cap'n jazz shows are the best. fuck everything else

Posted by nikhil | July 1, 2010 7:35 PM

Yea seriously.....I knew what we were waiting for was complete shit.

Only Cap'n Jazz and maybe Xiu Xiu shows will be good....nothing else matters.

Fuckin dumbass hipsters thinking this line-up is better than fake line-up that was announced earlier need to get out of their Hipsterville apartment and go back home.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:40 PM

line up is great, for the most part, and the shows are FREE...you whiners are gggaaaahhhheeeeeyyyy.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:40 PM

the last two are meh but the rest are great and will no doubt be a lot of fun. the xx suck whoever chooses that over this is pretty lame

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:41 PM

Pool Parties fucking rock and so does this lineup! So looking forward to these, Sunday church! Hope there is kielbasa to eat, but most of you losers prob already ate them all. Yeah, I'd much rather pay $60 to see a meh band than go see FREE shows where the crowds aren't from fucking Jersey and Long Island.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:41 PM

cut copy...YES......saw xx at bonnaroo and it sucked..and i really liked the album

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:41 PM

decent lineup. cut copy put on a great show, xx playing live are super lame. sorry people.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:42 PM

XX = dogshit squared

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:43 PM

wooh capnjazz & murder city!!!

Posted by mike | July 1, 2010 7:44 PM

You gotta give the fake lineup poster props...that was a totally credible lineup and he/she had all of us going, touche. Iggy and the Stooges, lol. This one obviously has less popular appeal, but who knows, it might seem amazing looking back on it next year. Haven't you guys ever discovered some great bands checking them out at free shows? Even ones you might not have gotten via their records?

Posted by Alan | July 1, 2010 7:46 PM

I work for Jelly and I just want to say that Stereogum are a bunch of douche bags who hacked our site and stole that flyer!! Fuck you!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:55 PM

SERIOUSLY YOU FUCKERS ARE DUMB.

Why do you keep talking about Cut Copy vs XX. If you are quick on your feet, which granted most of you lazy hipsters are, you can get to XX after Cut Copy and see both.

Also, stop with the it is free so do not complain crap. I can see the homeless guy on my block take a shit on the street for free. Should I not complain and just say eh it's free so it's fine.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:56 PM

The XX and not having to go to Brooklyn=dealmaker

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:57 PM

^^^That should obviously read "which most of you lazy hipsters are not"

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:57 PM

" work for Jelly and I just want to say that Stereogum are a bunch of douche bags who hacked our site and stole that flyer!! Fuck you!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:55 PM "

Hey, You should thank them instead. The later you waited the even more harrassment you would be getting from coming up with such a crappy bland lineup

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:59 PM

'Also, stop with the it is free so do not complain crap. I can see the homeless guy on my block take a shit on the street for free. Should I not complain and just say eh it's free so it's fine.'

Wow, who let the genius out of his box. Fucking dumb ass. You're the shit coming out of the homeless crack head's ass.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:01 PM

@7:55

Yeah, you Jelly guys had it coming. You can't say that you are going to announce something today and then wait until 8pm (or later) to do it. It wasn't hard to them to find it on your site. They didn't "hack it". That image was publicly hosted and that was your own dumbass fault for having it on a live server instead of in your dev environment. You fucking deserve it.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:05 PM

I work for Jelly and I just want to say that Stereogum are a bunch of douche bags who hacked our site and stole that flyer!! Fuck you!
Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 7:55 PM

hahah totally agree with 759pm....it was good that douchbag amrit from stereogum hacked into ur site. you guys sent an email saying it will be announced july 1st....where is the line-up oh wait

this line-up fuckin sucks except for cap'n jazz show

i'll have better time at prospect park and summerstage free shows this summer.......

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:08 PM

Yeah, the Cap'n Jazz show and Murder City Devil shows are the best by far. Obits and Jeff the Brotherhood make that out to be the best one, IMO.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:10 PM

Chromeo will be packed. Lots of douches like that band.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:14 PM

Hey, Jelly. Is your site announcement still "ALMOST DONE!!!"? No one fucking cares anymore. Thanks, Stereogum! Brand shaming!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:15 PM

The xx live = boooring
murder city devils live = best show eva!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:18 PM

I'm surprised that Stereogum even took that post down; pussies. They didn't even have to hack it. It was easy to find all of the Jelly site files today within their URL. They must have some amateur web developers on their team. This is hilarious that they are fuming about it.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:19 PM

Hey Jelly, why do you still not have this on your site? This shit should've been announced weeks ago. Were you scrambling to try and get good bands until the last minute, and this is the lineup you had to settle for?

Two years ago, at least there was some variety in the lineup. You had one show with Eli Paperboy Reed, Langhorne Slim, and Felice Brothers. It was a nice change of pace. Granted there was barely anyone there because it was raining, and APW was the same day, but it was a great show.

Posted by AlwaysRushingAlwaysLate | July 1, 2010 8:19 PM

Site title: "ALMOST DONE!!!"

So funny.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:20 PM

It's funny because their brand name is "Jelly". That's pretty fucking stupid.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:23 PM

Does anybody like the video?

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:27 PM

WOW, haters!!! Hilarious!!! likely still virgins too.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:28 PM

No, the video sucks. If I see one more amateur video that uses that Crystal Skull vodka bottle as a cheap prop, I'm going to go berzerko. Looks like Village Voice picked it up also: http://blogs.villagevoice.com/music/archives/2010/07/cut_copy_is_hea.php

This is hilarious. Jelly sure fucked this up.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:30 PM

ANon 828 either works for Jelly or just wants to work for Jelly

fuckin line up sucks!

idiots

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:30 PM

@8:30.....exactly. Definitely one of their dozens of unpaid interns. See also @8:27....they are obviously the creator of the shitty video.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:31 PM

So the moral of the video is, if you litter in a park, you'll find an old bottle of Dan Aykroyd's vodka?

Posted by AlwaysRushingAlwaysLate | July 1, 2010 8:34 PM

No one that comments on here works for Jelly. Those dudes are way too cool for Brooklyn Vegan.

I want to work for you!!! Because your lineup rocks!!! And your mom gives good head!!! mmm, your mom gives good mom head!!! mmm!!!

Oh and I don't have a job, accept for doing your mom!!!

"Oh and I don't have a job, accept for doing your mom!!!"

ACCEPT?

Posted by English Major | July 1, 2010 8:36 PM

Jelly has an army of self-righteous, spoiled unpaid interns who don't know what the fuck to do with their Lib Arts degrees from overpriced private colleges, but definitely don't want to get real jobs and don't have any real talent to share with the music world. They are all reading these comments. This is awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:51 PM

whats the name of the song in the video? i kinda like it

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:54 PM

So here it is, via Jelly NYC: the best reason not to flee the city on the summer weekends. Once more at the Williamsburg Waterfront (aka East River State Park) in the 11211 thanks to Chuck Schumer’s lobbying after totally coincidentally and authentically happening upon the hipster hoedown while cruising down Kent Ave one Sunday, like Senators and Jay-Zs tend do. Once again entirely free, for seven Sundays over eight weeks (the missing Sunday in that stretch will still see a free party, but at Brooklyn Bowl instead, because of a Waterfront scheduling conflict/Jelly NYC’s love of drunken bowling).

The summer slate kicks off with Xiu Xiu and Deerhoof doing Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures on 7/11, wraps up with Delorean and SPECIAL GUESTS on 8/29, with some aggro excellence on 7/25 (Lightning Bolt, No Age, Cap’n Jazz) and a great slate on 8/8 (Cut Copy, Restless People, Memory Tapes, Glasser) that will make you feel better about not being at Lolla (for a few hours anyway). Flyer above. Bring sunscreen/a functioning liver.

Posted by Stereogum | July 1, 2010 8:55 PM

I like you jelly basterds, worthless people or not. And god bless Wesleyan U @838.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:56 PM

I am so sick of seeing blogs post about Deerhoof. Do they really do it for ya? I find the music painful too my eardrums. What is all the hype about!!!! They are so over rated and so annoying.

Anyway Deerhoof, you guys got my respect for getting people your music but you still blow a hole. It really is just painful music horrible music that needs to DIE!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 8:38 PM

^^^ this is EXACTLY RIGHT. the one girl i knew who worked for the company was a talentless, spoiled, able-to-be-unpaid intern who did nothing but check brooklynvegan. thankfully, she (and the other worthless ~20 hipsters) are reading this and weeping at the crowd reacting to their shitty announcements, and shitty lineup. the last two sundays of this? what a joke.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 9:25 PM

me taking a shit on the sidewalk is still more exciting than the national.

love, homeless guy

ps- can't wait to hit up yr mom's tent!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 9:30 PM

Interns are stupid

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 9:30 PM

Is there anyone reading this who reps one of the bands listed that can confirm (anonymously of course) it's validity? Or is there anyone who reps a band who is CONFIRMED but NOT listed so we can make some fucking sense of this? The fact no one is stepping up and saying "yes, it's legit, I work with one of these bands and shit is real", is pissing mehoff.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 9:39 PM

eh, kind of a weak line up after all the hype. still, a gorgeous location, it's free, decent music, we really should not complain...

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 9:41 PM

Dumb fuck:

Chromeo (Irving Plaza)
!!! (Webster Hall)
Cut Copy (Terminal 5)
Murder City Devils (Nokia Theatre)
Deerhoof (Irving Plaza)

Xiu Xiu, Why?, and No Age all routinely (and easily) sell out Bowery/Music Hall

yes, it's legit

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 9:59 PM

See ya'll at the Cap'n Jazz gig at Maxwell's - Lightning Bolt is playing that one too. Just confirmed - Enjoy buying my overpriced tickets on stub hub. But them now while they are still available - trust me on this one!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:03 PM

"See ya'll at the Cap'n Jazz gig at Maxwell's - Lightning Bolt is playing that one too"

I don't see Lightning Bolt listed on the Maxwell's show. Prove it.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:13 PM

""Super Special Guests" means they havent booked a headliner yet"

I could also mean that it is a band that has an upcoming show and is not allowed to announce another area show. Which band has a big show before 8/29?

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:16 PM

sucks for the future islands show this sunday. fuck going to shea stadium on sunday and seeing a bunch of awful faux-metal bands, i'll just wait until 8/15 now, thank you very much!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:20 PM

Probably Passion Pit again. They apparently have some sort of deal with NYC to play here every 2 months. But obviously they'd be the biggest band by leaps and bounds to play this series so it's obviously not them. So I'll go with another band that plays NYC every other week: Titus Andronicus.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:24 PM

This is their "update": http://jellynyc.com/blog/?p=457

So pathetic. Yes, there was no "hacker", because there didn't need to be. You hosted the files on your live site, idiots. Yes, there was a fake line-up, but that was earlier in the day. Yes, there might be bigger news coming, but who fucking cares? You guys are horrible at PR. Announce shit before you lose control of your own brand/business/etc. It's more important than getting your hyper-saturated and shitty web design up to "perfection" with the same lineup that is posted here. Cool, "Do's" and "Don'ts" also. Nice job, you're as shitty as Vice.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:26 PM

I'll see a fair chunk of these, but the only one that's completely essential is CAP'N FUCKING JAZZ. If you're not down for that I hope you smother in a pile of chillwave cassettes.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:28 PM

Hey guys, the last headliner is Miike Snow. I was interning for Jelly and was late to a meeting last week, so they fired me. Now you know. See you there!

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:35 PM

10:26 works for Jelly

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:41 PM

Julian = a walking baby. Playing it off all cool, but really wtf. Two days late and a dollar short. Guess they will be forced to "announce" the show tomorrow. That's IF they even happen this year.

P.S. Super Special Guests = Gucci Mane

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:41 PM

For FREE, it's looks pretty FUCKING good, FUCKTARDS.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:44 PM

I'm a big Joy Division fan, but this Xiu Xiu/Deerhoof show has me worried. You can't tell me this is ideal music for a waterfront on a summer day. Furthermore, after watching clips on Youtube, it looks like it is a fairly straight interpretation. Why not just pay (less) for a Joy Division cover band? At least The Dirty Projectors reinterpreted Black Flag. This Joy Division album cover project just seems lazy.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:48 PM

^Exactly my thoughts. Plus, Jamie Stewart is a fucking unwarranted hipster diva and is an all-around jackass who has no fucking business touching a whole Joy Division album.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:53 PM

Joy Division Blows. They pretty much ruined everything. Stupid hipsters.

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 10:57 PM

^ Yeah, thank God that Passion Pit is saving everyone. How was the show last night?

Posted by Anonymous | July 1, 2010 11:03 PM

I heard the taco truck from union pool will be there...Deerhoof & tacos will make me happy!

Posted by harry_t | July 1, 2010 11:04 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 2, 2010 12:36 AM

The 18th and the 25th RULE! Everything else is dogshit. Unless the Stooges are actually the special guests or something equally awesome and not Animal Collective.

Posted by Anonymous | July 2, 2010 12:41 AM

Everyone is forgetting this crucial fact: it's a fucking free WHY? show. Doesn't get better than that.

Heres some food for you.
Why did the Sanders girls, Colonel Sanders' daughters, absolutely refuse to eat KFC's extra crispy fried chicken?
Well because it brought back too many bad memories of their late father's foreskin.

Yes I hear you. It should be against the law for the fools to ruin Joy Division songs.

Posted by Anonymous | July 2, 2010 12:53 AM

the best show is on the same day as the XX. but yes they are pretty much garbage live. Soo its cut copy and memory tapes vs. Jack Penate...

Someone wanna register a "thepoolparties" twitter account and say that Led Zeppelin's playing?

Posted by Anonymous | July 2, 2010 2:44 AM

The food situation is rather bleak. No hummus on the menu.

Posted by Anonymous | July 2, 2010 3:39 AM

That sucks that there won't be any hummus available. One of my favorite summertime activities is dipping pita bread into hot hummus as the scent of coconut sunscreen wafts through the air.

Posted by Anonymous | July 2, 2010 10:18 AM

Special Guest = All of the interns who were late and got fired started an electro band that is going to be HUGE. It's called Chromeomanmaniggypitpolcokassinyourmama!

Posted by Anonymous | July 2, 2010 10:21 AM

Any word on the food this time? I remember having tasty gazpacho two years back, and I was deeply saddened that changed to pulled pork sandwiches last year?

At the silversun show there were...
TACOS, GRILLED CORN, TAMALES, CHIPS & SALSA/GUAC

Posted by Anonymous | July 2, 2010 10:22 AM

Covering one or two songs by a band you like is cool, but to play somebody else's record in its entirety? Why would I give two fucks about Xiu Xiu and Deerhoof playing an entire Joy Division album? R.I.P. Ian.

Posted by Rocky Napoli | July 2, 2010 11:03 AM

Special Guest last show is definitely The Strokes.

Posted by Derek | July 2, 2010 11:11 AM

Posted by wingwalker77 | July 2, 2010 3:42 PM

Heres some food for you.
Why did the Sanders girls, Colonel Sanders' daughters, absolutely refuse to eat KFC's extra crispy fried chicken?
Well because it brought back too many bad memories of their late father's foreskin.

you are my HERO

Posted by Anonymous | July 2, 2010 4:11 PM

I don't know why you are all such stuck up assholes... Most of you are from the bumblefuck midwest and the best free concert you ever got was the sound of a cow farting. Stop your bitching !!!

Posted by Steve | July 2, 2010 9:34 PM

At the risk of getting bitched out by Jelly volunteers who think they're insiders, and people who "just want to have a good time," this *IS* a really shitty lineup, save for Why? and a few others.

Not to pin it all on Jelly either--it seems like someone recognized the chance to monetize the Waterfront--there have been a shitload of paid shows there, so obviously the problem with getting a permit doesn't have to do with the park or whatever.

This is a far cry from the glory days of McCarren. It's a shame what's been done to what was formerly a great experience--looks like we'll have to just count on Todd P after all.
