Wavves @ Knitting Factory in June (more by Alex Reside)
WAVVES

Wavves 3.0 - with drummer Billy Hayes and bassist Stephen Pope, who wrote two and one songs, respectively, on King of the Beach - had a round of NY shows back in June. That included gigs at Kniting Factory, Meat Locker in Montclair, and a Fader party with The-Dream.

The band, currently in Europe, will play a pre-Lolla show in NYC this August. That show happens Monday, August 2nd at Bowery Ballroom. Tickets go on sale Saturday, July 10th at noon.

Wavves follow those shows with more dates across North America. Videos of Wavves at NXNE, the Fader party (plus a clip of The-Dream for good measure), and all tour dates are below...

why do i feel like i see more WAVVES shit than anything else on bv?

Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2010 9:32 PM

King of the Beach is a fucking great album. a lot of you guys need to just loosen up and let yourselves have some fun once in a while

Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2010 9:57 PM

sounds like a little 8 year old brat writing his first song - wtf?

Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2010 10:55 PM

Hated first album. Love King of the Beach.

Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2010 11:24 PM

of course he's playing a fader party, you generally have to to get on their covers. lame

Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2010 11:26 PM

Now as a guy who loves the shit out of this site for its coverage of everything from Misery Index to Phoenix, this band is complete junk. Is this some kind of indie rock market research case? Are music blogs trying to test peoples thresholds before people say "bullshit"? I say bullshit. In fact Horseshit!

I have the right mind to buy every tic in the venue just so the place is empty. Damb I wish I had more money.

I started a cock
Started the whole world sucking
But I couldn't see
That the cock was on me

Posted by robin glibb | July 7, 2010 11:42 PM

for realz. stop thinkin you can hate on him cuz you were so bored of his shit a year ago. king of the beach is killer.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 12:24 AM

Are we still into this guy?

Posted by Count Funkula! | July 8, 2010 1:25 AM

well first off I've gotta say all these live videos I've seen recently of the new songs make wavves sound like complete shit live (which I don't doubt that they are complete shit live)

as for his other songs they're hit or miss for me, but I'm pretty into most of the tracks on king of the beach. nathan seems like a pretty big asshole still and doesn't seem to have much talent musically or lyrically, but regardless of that I still think a lot of this new album is pretty damn catchy and has a decent feel to it. so I can settle for the simple songs.

pop punk

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 1:28 AM

this shit is straight up unlistenable. are the other band members the survivors of Jay Reatard? they gotta be. there cant be that many muppets playing drums and bass. or could there...

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 1:30 AM

BV, why make wavves the last post of the day and leave it up overnight? cause you know it's gonna get a reaction out of people? at least diversify a little bit. how many days ago was it that wavves was left up over night? feels like only a few ago

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 3:08 AM

You guys are insane, especially 3:08. He put it up last and left it overnight because the show was announced last night around 11pm/midnight by Wavves' twitter account. It's not a hipster conspiracy.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 7:19 AM

at least we can all agree that this band sucks

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 8:40 AM

he's carlos mencia of rock

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 8:42 AM

719, no, it's true. bv deliberately leaves shit up overnight. remember those camera obscura posts?

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 8:55 AM

Wavves Rules. Did you know Rosie O' Donnell is joining the band on trombone? It's gonna be bitchin'

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 9:00 AM

this guy is trying really hard to be relevant, but he's out

face it dude, nobody wants you anymore

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 9:31 AM

Stop, no one here really likes this music. Tell the band members to stop writing here on their own thread. Fucking ridiculous.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 9:32 AM

wavves is so 2000's

we're in the teens now.

go away asshole

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 9:51 AM

this group dosn't even deserve the MEH treatment. Or a Hummus comment for that matter.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 10:13 AM

king of the beach is decent surf rock. their earlier stuff was just noise.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 10:28 AM

wavves moment = over

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 11:35 AM

worst aspect of Wavves is that the main guy is a spoiled shit who's got his head in the clouds convinced of his own "genius"

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 11:40 AM

Yeah, I'm assuming most of the hate for Wavves is just muscle memory. The new album is actually really fucking good and doesn't really sound like anything he was doing before, thankfully.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 12:17 PM

Wavves = Japanese Motors with even less talent but with more distortion. But, I get it, all things with a beach, sand or water is cool now.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 12:24 PM

12:17, I guess if you keep saying it maybe someone will believe you, but actually dude is just last year's leftovers.

flash in the pan

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 12:52 PM

"nathan seems like a pretty big asshole still."

my band got paired with wavves once for a show by a venue (had never heard them before and only had that impression from the blog posts) but nathan was actually a really nice guy.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 2:12 PM

His music is too whiny, heard a rumor he's headlining this year's Vans Warped Tour.

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 7:26 PM

old wavves was better than new wavves

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2010 10:04 PM

Wavy Gravy > Wavves

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2010 1:40 AM

the wavves dude is not a "real nice guy". that fucker an arrogant little scene climbing shit
