For bigger shows, tonight is full of conflicts.
Spiritualized are performing Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space live in its entirety with orchestra and choir. The show is the final SPIN/ZYNC thing this week and will be streaming online. Tickets are still on sale.
Seu Jorge headlines Terminal 5 tonight now that SPIN has vacated and moved to Radio City.
The Swell Season have headlined Radio City Music Hall twice. Tonight they play a free show in Prospect Park with the Low Anthem.
Big weekend for Prospect Park. Sonic Youth play the free show on Saturday.
Chad VanGaalen should probably be headlining the free show at South Street Seaport today, but Avi Buffalo is.
Catch Jim James in an intimate setting, tonight at Music Hall of Williamsburg.
The Big Takeover Fest kicks off.
Primus returns.
The Gories return too.
Read more in This Week in Indie.
Julian Lynch headlines a bill at Glasslands tonight, one of a few NYC shows he has coming up, and his second (that we know about) since Mare came out in June.
Swimsuit, a band whose lineup features Fred Thomas of City Center and Saturday Looks Good To Me), joins Pet Milk, People Get Ready and Bad Indians to play Death By Audio tonight.
What else?

Anybody know if there is an opener for Seu Jorge tonight? Also anybody know what the set list is going to include? The almaz album is only 12 songs.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 9:22 AM
Me too @9:09!!!!!!!
Best show of the summer.
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 9:23 AM
So no opener for Spiritualized.....hmmm I'm guessing they'll be on around 8:10pm?
and will it only be 70 minutes long???
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 9:25 AM
Goddamn, there are a ton of great options tonight
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 9:27 AM
Gories!
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 9:31 AM
Why can't yim yames and spritualized be on different nights?
Posted by Matt | July 30, 2010 9:39 AM
If you're not going to Primus - YOU SUCK.
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 9:40 AM
how early do people think you need to get in line at Prospect Park tonight to have a chance at a seat? or to get on the lawn?
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 9:41 AM
Primus is way past their prime....they were awesome in the 90s.
Don't know about them now....
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 9:49 AM
PRIMUS SUCKS
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 9:50 AM
Anybody stuck w/ an extra Spiritualized ticket?
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 9:57 AM
@9:49 - Primus is sounding better then ever right now. Jay Lane if fuckin Killing the kit and Les and Ler have a whole new energy. Last nights show in VT was INSANE. I can't wait for tonight and then Saturday in CT. The old songs sound fresh and new. I can't wait to hear the new material. They should finally have a new one sometime next year.

Spiritualized will be on shortly after 8:00. Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space is about 70 minutes if played note for note with no added improv or space between songs. So I'd figure that will last until at least 9:30, then maybe J will break out a few extras to stretch the show to about 10:00?

are recent primus setlists from this tour available anywhere? just curious.
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 10:42 AM

bringing weed inside radio city? good or bad idea?
Posted by xx | July 30, 2010 11:08 AM
11:08 lets see bring an illegal item anywhere..is it really a good idea?
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 11:13 AM
weed at RCMH is def NOT recommended. it's an historic, pristine venue, not a club. you will get caught (unless you do a quick one-y hit in the bathroom stall and bounce)
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 11:26 AM
@ 10:42 -
All the recent set lists for Primus can be found here

@11:13 "11:08 lets see bring an illegal item anywhere..is it really a good idea?"
often it's a good idea, as long as you aren't an idiot about it.
Posted by Tumbleweed | July 30, 2010 11:43 AM
Radio City is most definitely not a venue where you will get away with smoking herb. I would advise against it. If you wanna blaze, then come to Primus! It's outside. :)
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 11:47 AM
I have smoked a 1 hitter in the seats plenty of times without Incident.
Just make sure you gotgood weed.
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 11:49 AM
just make a firecracker yo.

is primussold out? i can't get tickets online
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 12:24 PM
Somebody hit the one-y in RCMH balcony during Willie the other night and I didn't see anyone get rousted out of their seat, but there were weird old guys in suits just hanging out in the men's room banging on stall doors yelling, "Hold on to yr ticket stub..."
They'll probably go on pretty promptly, just take a walk around the block beforehand, xx.
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 1:01 PM
THRILL KILL KULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 1:07 PM

12:01 has clearly never written or played music that anyone wants to hear.
Cold War Kids will be great tonight...but probably boring compared to your evening of sex with your mom.
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2010 1:20 PM
vid @ 1:15, even though it was at the pool party show, they were out in the wide open.
if ya'll plan on smoking outside @ a show why not make some effort and go into the crowd just a little bit?
