Xiu Xiu + Deerhoof @ Donaufestival 2010 (armin r)
Xiu Xiu + Deerhoof

In April, Deerhoof and Xiu Xiu premiered their joint cover of Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures at a music festival in Austria. On July 11th (five days from now), the bands will again perform the album as joint headliners of the first Williamsburg Pool Party of 2010. Why?, Fang Island and Pictureplane all open that free show.

In the fall, Xiu Xiu and Deerhoof will be touring together in Canada and the North East. Also on the horizon is a new Deerhoof album in 2011.

, it's kinda like the bjork and dirty projectors thing, except these guys atleast tell us they couldn't make something interesting so they cover an old record, good work

On the same day that Jimmy Cliff is playing for free in Central Park and The Roots and Talib Kweli are playing for free at Celebate Brooklyn, why would anyone go see these two crap acts ruin one of the best records ever?

Posted by Anonymous | July 6, 2010 2:40 PM

Would much rather just see these acts play their own sets on Sunday, but oh well. At least Why? will rule all.

Why cover this album?

Posted by Venkman | July 6, 2010 4:06 PM

lol forever at Roots and Talib Kweli guy

Posted by Anonymous | July 6, 2010 4:52 PM

during the goddamn world cup, you guys?

Posted by Anonymous | July 6, 2010 5:48 PM

Jimmy Cliff will probably be packed long before the game is over, probably the same with the Roots/Talib Kweli, so I guess this is a consolation prize.

Venkman 4:06PM really needs to rethink their life...
I dig both these bands but I dunno I guess its cool to do..much rather hear it recorded or something.
