Yuck

"I'm watching YUCK on stage for the second time this week at only their third gig.... YUCK's music is beguilingly interior, evoking inner monologues and sideways glances through eyelashes framed by burning cheeks. Vocals weave through a haze of reverb and feedback arches through frisson-filled dusky melodies. There are moments of angst in songs The Wall and Get Away (the one with the heartbreaker chorus) but it's ultimately sweetly uplifting, none more so than "Georgia," their forthcoming single on Transparent that feels like a forgotten anthem. Grunge would be an easy reference to make, but a lazy one too. Sure, you can spot-call the elements but the underlying feeling isn't apathy. This isn't a 90s revival; YUCK are the sound of growing up. [Dummy Mag, Feb. 2010]
London group Yuck have been leaking a steady stream of demos, singles and, most recently, an EP titled Weakend, since before their live debut at the beginning of 2010. Their tour schedule includes UK shows through the fall, and though they've yet to make it stateside, that will change soon (stay tuned).

"Daughter" and "Automatic," two songs from the sold-out limited-edition cassette EP Weakend, are posted above. A previous single "Georgia," which came out on a split 7-inch on Transparent, and bedroom recording "Sunday" are both above as well.

Videos for all three of those, plus one for Weakend's title-track, are posted below...

Mostly dull, beigish visuals on these videos but sonically they're one of the best new bands this year.

If they changed their lethally stupid band name, they'd be almost perfect.
