lady lamb the beekeeper!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2010 7:51 PM

people would pay $15 for this?

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2010 8:18 PM

OK that's pretty amazing, I have to admit.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2010 8:26 PM

Oh wow, speaking of people who have played NYC 25 times in the last year...

"Oh wow, speaking of people who have played NYC 25 times in the last year..."

Nobody cares if you go to the show.

tune-yards is nice and all, but can't wait to see Sharon Van Etten live after seeing those Blogotheque Take Away videos!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2010 9:44 PM

9:44 needed some other external justification to see SVE perform live? Reading BV isn't enough for you?

@7:46, sadly I must agree with you. I am a huge fan of Annie's but her sound really is ill suited for an outdoor venue (especially one of that size). Heres to hoping she comes to NYC sometime soon and plays a show somewhere nice and intimate.

St. Vincent is the Michael Jordan of Boring.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2010 11:12 PM

Fair warning. I am going to buy all of the Sharon Van Halen t-shirts tomorrow night.

Anyone up for a moustache ride??

"Oh wow, speaking of people who have played NYC 25 times in the last year.."

huh? In all of 2010, Tune-Yard's only NYC shos have been her one headlining show at the Bell House, her show at Bowery Ballroom with Xiu Xiu, and her free show today at Summerstage which is accompanied by this 100-capacity Brooklyn show. What about that schedule offends you, and really, what about how many shows any artist offends you? Step outside sometimes. Worry about your own life.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2010 11:42 PM

Sharon Van Etten is playing TWO shows this week (and was spotted at Summerstage)! THIS OFFENDS ME.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2010 11:44 PM

@10:58, it was called the Allen Room in January.

I am glad everyone photographs every fucking second of their lives. It'll be a source of much regret and shame in your late 20s. Couple that with the embarrassment you'll feel at having liked this absolutely talentless garbage (and most of the other garbage touted by BV) and you'll realize how bankrupt and bereft of purpose your life has been.

Keep selfishly banking on your parents inheritance people. We'll be living in our worst nightmare in 2 generations

Wow 11:56 went "extreme" but "kinda nailed it." Sometimes you just gotta "rail on those effing hipsters." When "being controversial" not longer "sets the buzz blogs ablaze" might just go "effing nuts" and start "saying insane, radical stuff" to create "mad hits + buzz."

someone's feisty tonight

Can anyone explain the appeal of Tune Yards to me? One of those worst things I have ever heard. I'll toot my own horn and say I have very diverse taste and like a lot of noisy/droney/conceptual stuff but this is absolutely grating.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2010 12:23 AM

Man, some of y'all just need to get laid

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2010 12:23 AM

Another secret Rock Shop Guest: Galaxie 500 on 8/18.... only $5

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2010 12:56 AM

Tune-yards was insane today, and everyone loved them. I definitely liked their set over St Vincent's, but i feel bad for her because the sound guy was a fucking idiot and had no idea what he was doing.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2010 1:12 AM

^^ agreed - the mix for st. vincent was awful.
the keyboard, bass & electronic drum pads dominated (couldn't even hear the regular drums in the mix for 2/3 of the show!) & annie's guitar was nearly inaudible. it's kind of hilarious seeing someone really get into playing a guitar noise freak-out when you can't actually hear what they're playing.

11:42, "the past year" doesn't mean "2010," it means the last 12 months. 25 times is an obvious exaggeration, but she played NYC a few times in the summer/fall in 2009 as well.

So I assume what 8:44 was saying is that Tune-Yards has played NYC a lot (7-8 times?) in the last 12 months, which may not be a bad thing, but isn't completely untrue.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2010 12:19 PM

Opening for the Dirty Projectors for all four nights last November is a good number of those "25 times" Tune-Yards has played NYC.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2010 12:29 PM

And Union Hall in October, and a couple times at the Northside Festival last summer as well, IIRC.

Can we call it "a lot" yet?

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2010 12:44 PM

Don't forget Music Hall last September.

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2010 12:50 PM

does the Rock Shop have a web site?

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2010 1:57 PM

therockshopny.com

Posted by Anonymous | August 2, 2010 1:58 PM

Fair warning. I am going to buy all of the Sharon Van Halen t-shirts tomorrow night.
