Hot Chip, Joe Goddard in spirit & Holy Ghost!
Hot Chip

"By the time darkness fell, the crowd was sufficiently antsy. Their thirst for rich sound was quenched by Hot Chip's arrival, opening with 'And I Was a Boy From School' from their second album. The humid New York night blew through all their albums, playing crowd favorites like 'One Life Stand' and 'Over and Over.' The night was an eveloping blanket of musk, causing the band and the crowd to shed layers of clothing as they raged on.

One of the band members, Joe Goddard, was unable to be there because he was with his wife, expecting their first child. The other members made sure to pay due tribute to their beloved bandmate, closing the night with a gloriously extended version of 'Ready for the Floor' that made the entire island of Manhattan rumble." [Ology]

While Spoon was warming up the sold out Madison Square Garden crowd last night, Hot Chip shared a bill with Hercules & Love Affair and Holy Ghost! at Central Park Summerstage.

Coming up, Hot Chip have dates scheduled with LCD Soundsystem. More pictures from Summerstage below...

Saw the DJ set a Bk Bowl and it was whack! Uninspired beats and too much lag in the transitions. Disappointing.

Hercules sucks! One ok song that was only popular because Antony sang on it...time to hang it up people.

i've seen hot chip so many times and regretted getting tickets to this, was not in the mood, etc. but i thought they were great, really fun night

Summerstage + way way low volume = missed opportunity for a really good time.

Those quiet Pavement shows are gonna rage.

hot chip are great because they play good songs that sound good...unlike the band Coasting, which sounds like femme shit

Posted by Anonymous | August 5, 2010 8:44 PM

The fuck, no Joe Goddard?!?!? Did he leave the band or something? EPIC FAIL.

^^
wrong! real instrumentation > backing tracks.

get a clue.

pissed I missed holy ghost.

^^^"real instrumentation > backing tracks."

I totally agree, and I like a lot of electronic music. Most electronic acts sound better touring with a real band, i.e. The Field. And while we're at it: Real DJing is mixing tracks, not playing some songs cause you're semi-famous.

"kicked Hot Chip's ass and a half"

Not really an accomplishment, but okay.

Thanks for the pictures!! Me & my friends are in 3! The show amazing!

Fucking A show! Hercules was also dope. Hot Chip just killed it tho! even w/o Goddard. People couldn't stop dancing!
I've seen them plenty of times in NY but this one took it!
