"what a perfect way to spend a sunday evening... me: tall with grey curly hair. you: cute girl in dress that i should have paid more attention to than josh ritter" - missed connection
"DAWN LANDES put on a better show in ATL, but her stints on stage at GOV ISLAND with RITTER were stupendous." - Adam Jackson
Justin Townes Earle / Josh & Dawn

Josh Ritter (Dawn Landes's husband) & The Royal City Band headlined the free show on Governors Island Sunday night. Justin Townes Earle (now healed enough to play again) (and whose new single came out as a free download today) and Dawn Landes & The Hounds opened the Converse-presented "Gone to Governors" show on the beach. Special guests included Zeke Hutchins who joined Dawn for a song, and Dawn who joined Josh. More pictures from the show below...

Justin Townes Earle sounded higgety-hammered during his between song banter. Riddling the "family friendly" environs with f-bombs galore and crapping all over Jack Daniels. I'm paraphrasing here but the semi-slurred speech went something like "I'm from Tennessee so I'm allowed to say Jack Daniels ain't shit! I know how to make moonshine. I'm gonna go and build a still on the roof of my building and make real Tennessee whiskey."
The music itself sounded great tho. Go figure.

It's obvious the only reason people attended this show was due to the easy availability of hummus.
And what a marvelous photo it is.
Almost a work of art.

Yes... That photo is beautiful. The slight angle creates such a marvelous negative space in the back. And the classic font face in the word hummus is a throwback to a simpler time.

I actually made a large screen print of the photo and am going to hang it in my foyer. What a marvelous image to showcase to my guests as they enter my home! It is truly one of the most emotive images that I've seen in years, and upon first sight I almost had to hold back my tears of beauty.
