Nite Jewel on Governors Island
Nite Jewel

Nite Jewel played a perfectly pleasant set at the beautiful Beach @ Governors Island setting on Saturday night. They were 2nd of five on the 'Gone to Governors' bill that was headlined by Neon Indian. The pictures in this post are from that show.

Nite Jewel also played Glasslands later that night, part of their NYC run of shows that also included Cake Shop and Mercury Lounge. But they're not done yet. You can catch Nite Jewel one more time, tonight (8/16), at Other Music. The 8pm in-store show is free, and they'll have copies of their new "Am I Real?" EP available for sale on vinyl.

Man I went to the Glasslands show where I realized this band has to be one of the WORST things to make music in the last 20 years. The useless spazz dancing girl that does virtually nothing made Bez look like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever. Why oh why do people support terrible artists making terrible music like this?

Maybe you shouldn't read Other Music or Pitchfork all the time and you would know that you wouldn't be wasting your money.

You should have been at Ink and Dagger last night....they killed it and was 100x better than Brooklyn show.

The show was pretty lame in general. DOM was the most exciting set. Nite Jewel was boring and just plain bad. But the view was amazing and the weather perfect.

Nite Jewel was better when it was just a solo bedroom disco project.

I thought Nite Jewel played the most enjoyable set of the evening. And that old hippy science teacher lady with the hula hoop that was grinding against the fake palm trees seemed to agree

they were pretty awful at glasslands, but the other music show was beautiful. the sound was better, the band was more into it, and the vibe was all around cooler. the new girl is julia holter from human ear music.
