Spoon @ Lollapalooza 2010 (more by Josh Darr)
Spoon

Spoon's last two NYC shows took place at Madison Square Garden where they opened for their Merge labelmate Arcade Fire. And there's been a rumor floating around that the band might also be playing their own show at Williamsburg Waterfront this summer or fall, but it has been announced that Spoon will play the much smaller Music Hall of Williamsburg on September 13th (one day after they play a free show in NJ).

The new show is part of Music Hall's 3rd anniversary celebration, though unlike the Wooden Shijps show which costs $3.00, Spoon will set you back $33.33. Stay tuned for Tickets go on sale Saturday.

how does spoon sound live? can't really get into their records, but i could see the music sounding good live.

Spoon are fantastic live;)

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2010 9:23 AM

So far this year, they played at
1) Mercury Lounge
2) Radio City
3) MSG twice
4) MHOW

God I love these boys, mixing up small/large venues!

Not like Jelly had any $$$ to book them for their pool shows but I wish that "fake line-up" was sorta true....

Can we get Man Man and Gang Gang Dance to play their final pool show or will I be dissapointed with bands like Miike Snow or some hipster band?

Any interns at Jelly, please feel free to comment;)

We know you love your Jelly company so much.....

they were awesome at MSG to a half-filled, seated stadium., can't wait to see them playing a full set for real fans

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2010 9:50 AM

can't see Miike Snow playing sunday, they will be here twice in October.

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2010 9:51 AM

33 bucks to see fucking spoon?
hah

" can't really get into their records, but i could see the music sounding good live.'

That's funny, for me it's the opposite: great albums but so/so live. Ironically, the best I have ever seen them was at MSG a few weeks ago. Still nothing spectacular. I have seen them back in the '90s at Brownies and even at Emo's in Austin, so I have seen them play small shows.

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2010 10:12 AM

I love Spoon, but you know I've seen them maybe fifteen times in various sized venues and not once have I walked away thinking, "WOW! What a fucking amazing show!" Never anything beyond solid.

10:09, 33 dollars is a fair price for a concert in 2010...I've certainly paid more to see less professional bands than Spoon

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2010 10:17 AM

hey guess what guys i saw bands at brownie's in the 90s. you can email me for more information about all the cool things i did back then - originalcoolguy@iamolderthanyou.com.

I just tried to email you but your inbox is full.

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2010 11:19 AM

i'll gladly pay $33 for Spoon if it is made of solid gold and I can use it to shovel hummus into my mouth

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2010 11:24 AM

i basically dont listen to them but msg was great, lolla was spectacular

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2010 12:05 PM

11:24 wins this thread.

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2010 12:09 PM

If the spoon is solid gold it has to be a coke spoon.

anons 10:09, 10:12 and 10:17 should form a circle jerk.

anon. 10:09 in particular should suffer some real bad karma for being a mother f'ing CHEAP a-hole hipster.

it's SCUM of the earth like them that won't be happy until some band they like (i.e. crystal stilts, crystal ship, crystal shit, etc.) pays them to go to one of their shows.

and they'd still be a miserable sack of sputum.

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2010 1:23 PM

^I think you should suck up all their semen.

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2010 1:39 PM

Spoon: Always boring live, getting more boring on record.

Posted by Anonymous | August 24, 2010 4:02 PM

I've tried pretty hard for the past 8 years to like Spoon, but they never really come through. I've tried to listen to most of their albums but the lyrics and music just seem so blah. Not sure how they've lasted so long, but I guess a good PR campaign and some blah music is good enough for the indie-masses.

After seeing Spoon at Lollapalooza, I am so going to see this show. They were phenomenal and seeing them in such a small venue is a score.

Posted by CNC | August 24, 2010 9:07 PM

this show is going to be awesome.
haters gon' hate.

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2010 10:20 AM

"anons 10:09, 10:12 and 10:17 should form a circle jerk."

So if someone does not like a band that you do, that makes them scum? Stop being a fanboy. There are no sacred cows.

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2010 10:30 AM

what time are the sacred cows playing?

Posted by Anonymous | August 25, 2010 10:55 AM

I'm going to the free show, Spoon is good and all, but not worth $33 and I live in Jersey anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | August 26, 2010 1:06 AM

Any idea what time on Saturday the tickets will go on sale? Noon?

Posted by Anonymous | August 27, 2010 3:07 PM

I have heard absolutely nothing about when these tickets are going on sale except what is given here.

Posted by CNC | August 27, 2010 8:42 PM

still no listing on ticketmaster

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 9:57 AM

Sacred Cows are awesome live. Albums are kinda meh.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 10:08 AM

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 11:20 AM

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 11:53 AM

areyouquitecertain

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 12:02 PM

presale password is "3YEARS" - i guessed that shit.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 12:02 PM

areyouquitecertain

Posted by you're welcome | August 28, 2010 12:02 PM

also, 3YEARS is the music hall password, not the artist password

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 12:03 PM

i answered my own question!

3YEARS

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 12:03 PM

sold out.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 12:12 PM

$40 after fees?

no thanks.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 12:16 PM

$40 after fees for any show is a bargain. bring your hipster ass into 2010.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 12:22 PM

$40 after fees IS kinda rough, but when I think about the $150 that i'll make scalping the tickets, it seems worth it.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 12:26 PM

"$40 after fees IS kinda rough, but when I think about the $150 that i'll make scalping the tickets, it seems worth it."

good luck. presale isn't even sold out yet. you bought for 40, you'll sell for 40.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 12:29 PM

If you'll sell for $40, you'll be lucky. The show will eventually sell out, but tickets won't be in high demand and there will be enough supply thanks to other dumbasses like you paying $40 a ticket in hopes of making money.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 1:07 PM

people buying tickets on brooklynvegan with the intent to resell at a higher price? dumb hipsters at it again.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2010 1:40 PM

@ 8/28 1:40p

who are the dumb ones? the ones getting tickets on time or the ones that "love" spoon and are then pissed that they can't buy a ticket from the box office 1 week pre-show?

"omg, how will i reach my "austin chic" quotient in order to maintain my "kewl kid" status? I need some Neon Indian!"
