Tour? How about another album from the boy wonder???

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 11:50 AM

Beacon Theater? I prefer Terminal 5.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 11:50 AM

11:50, in his last shows at Bowery he played new material, so hopefully this tour means he will announce new record soon

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 11:53 AM

Where is he going to be the 11th and 12th? I'd much rather see him on a weekend night....

Posted by Katie | August 9, 2010 11:54 AM

1154...because you're going to party hard before a sufjan stevens set?

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 11:55 AM

suck my dick 1150!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 11:57 AM

The sound, sighlines at Beacon... MEH The place feels old and is better suited for the music of the past. Sufjan should be playing Terminal 5. Pass.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 12:03 PM

The new songs played last time around at Bowery were great, dissonant electric guitar, some had kind of a Bitches Brew feel to them with the trumpet. I second the hope that there's a new album in the works.

Whoever above said they prefer T5 to the Beacon Theater should be punished with a one-year ban on attending concerts in NYC.

Posted by Brad | August 9, 2010 12:03 PM

Surprised its $35... actually seems a little low for the Beacon

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 12:07 PM

That Am Appy shirt makes his arms look wayyyyy to long. Jesus Christ those arms belong on a sasquatch, his knuckles must be on the floor.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 12:09 PM

Is there going to be a pre-sale password?

@12:07 just wait for the $15 fees

Posted by anonymous2 | August 9, 2010 12:11 PM

usually when an artist announces presale through his site the s&h fees are not nearly as high as TM

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 12:14 PM

will he ever just go away? fucking god boy.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 12:24 PM

THE RETURN OF SMILEY!

Posted by soysalami | August 9, 2010 12:32 PM

is he that good to assume that scalpers will be all over these tix? i always thought he was extremely weak as a singer songwriter.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 12:41 PM

Nimble, harmless white hipster dudes with Asian girlfriends who jack off to pics of the girl from "Juno" while their asian girlfriend visit their pre-med student sisters at Columbia for the weekend are stoked.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 12:50 PM

12:11 The presale password is "hummus," in honor of Sufjan's new four-album song cycle about the delicious foodstuff!

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 1:03 PM

"Nimble, harmless white hipster dudes with Asian girlfriends who jack off to pics of the girl from "Juno" while their asian girlfriend visit their pre-med student sisters at Columbia for the weekend are stoked."

jesus... that's one of the most vitriolic/bitter comments/run on sentences i've seen on a blog in a while.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 1:24 PM

when is he going to finally come out ?

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 1:36 PM

"Nimble, harmless white hipster dudes with Asian girlfriends who jack off to pics of the girl from "Juno" while their asian girlfriend visit their pre-med student sisters at Columbia for the weekend are stoked."

also one of the funniest!

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 1:37 PM

being such worthless haters must be exhausting...

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 1:44 PM

I wish I had an Asian girlfriend...Ay Dios Mio! HOw do you say that in Asian?

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 1:49 PM

Sufjan Stevens has huge manly arms and no chest what so ever

what a fag

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 2:30 PM

"The new songs played last time around at Bowery were great, dissonant electric guitar, some had kind of a Bitches Brew feel to them with the trumpet."

Hitting you in the face with a frying pan would not come close to being enough punishment for making a reference so clueless and stupid.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 4:31 PM

"Nimble, harmless white hipster dudes with Asian girlfriends who jack off to pics of the girl from "Juno" while their asian girlfriend visit their pre-med student sisters at Columbia for the weekend are stoked."

You can pay me $100 to watch me bang my super hot asian girlfriend to the sounds of Sufjan while you jack off in the corner and cry.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 4:43 PM

"You can pay me $100 to watch me bang my super hot asian girlfriend to the sounds of Sufjan while you jack off in the corner and cry."

No thanks. I'd rather just pay $100 to see a few other bands who are actually talented and sound good rather than some gay indie pop 'tard who can't come out of the closet because his version of God will hate him for it. After those shows finish up, I'll go home with my girlfriend and we'll make really intense, loud love to drown out the weak sounds of you and your asian girlfriend attempting to fuck but really sounding like two bitches crying.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 5:00 PM

Let's all just keep our Asian girlfriends out of this.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 5:08 PM

For a more accurate statement from 5:00pm replace "few other bands" with "Kings of Leon" and replace "girlfriend" with "American Apparel catalogue."

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 5:19 PM

"Am Appy" = the worst!

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 5:37 PM

"For a more accurate statement from 5:00pm replace 'few other bands' with 'Kings of Leon' and replace 'girlfriend' with 'American Apparel catalogue.'"

Try something more like "Paint It Black" or "Torche" or "Ceremony" instead of "Kings of Leon" and "Girlfriend who goes to the gym regularly and could kick a male Sufjan fan's ass in a second" instead "American Apparel catalogue."

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 5:38 PM

He's a little behind on his 50 state project, isn't he? Soupjam is probably the most overrated musician in the last decade.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 6:18 PM

Anonymous haters are sack-less. Go away. While you are away, create some music and post it and let us judge it....yeah I thought you'd deliver a turd.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 6:20 PM

ahahaha at the guy so entranced with the asian girlfriend burn made on him and his bad music taste + life that he invents a scenario where he has sex with her to bad music and shes actually really hot.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 6:41 PM

I bet skinny nimble hipster Sufjan fans have bigger dicks than brut bros listening to hardcore. Imagine how the asian girlfriends' tight pussies must feel with that much dick inside them....

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 7:04 PM

My main beef with Sufjan Stevens is he's got himself stuck in a situation where he doesn't seem able to do anything that isn't a big conceptual project...then, like 50 states, it gets overwhelming and he decides it was just a lark anyway and moves on--to yet another overbearing conceptual project.

Posted by LKJ | August 9, 2010 7:22 PM

if i were smarter i would be able to comment on how sufjan and arcade fire participate in the same humorless, pseudo-critical middle-class mythology that they supposedly interrogate/expose. but the music is so boring and safe that i can't listen to it long enough to back it up with specifics.

the best i can do is to suggest reading a p4k review of sufjan/af as if they're insincere ironic parodies, because they ring truer that way

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 7:39 PM

To all the losers arguing about asian girlfriends and the like, as a woman I have one thing to say: Size matters.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 8:16 PM

All asians look the same so it isn't like one is hotter than the other. Same rule with hipsters, that's why they give up on life and just date each other.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 8:22 PM

"To all the losers arguing about asian girlfriends and the like, as a woman I have one thing to say: Size matters."

Don't understand the implication of this. Are you trying to brag to us about your cavernous vag?

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 11:26 AM

the site is already crashing

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 12:59 PM

Ya no dice on being able to load.

Posted by Mr. Penisburg | August 10, 2010 1:02 PM

Holy ghost, already sold out?

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:03 PM

but all the haters said no one wants to see Sufjan anymore...

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:03 PM

Can't even get into the site.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:04 PM

It keeps saying on sale at 1pm. Yet they're not.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:04 PM

No Tickets Available At This Time, If Inventory Is Returned, Tickets May Become Available

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:05 PM

anyone with pre-sale luck? the site said it would automatically refresh, now I've just got a page that says DNS error. Can't get asthmatic kitty home page to load either.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:05 PM

Ugh... you'd think they'd be prepared for this shit!

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:05 PM

is a link supposed to appear on the Sufjan presale site?

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:06 PM

now it says none available!

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:06 PM

Tickets are there, just reload.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:06 PM

got the tickets through etix.com.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:06 PM

damn. all gone.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:06 PM

Wooooow seriously?

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:08 PM

got 3! Had to go straight to the etix site at 1pm. Suckerrrrrrs

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:08 PM

There is no way they are all gone. I don't think they were ever available

Posted by anonymous2 | August 10, 2010 1:08 PM

I still see tickets available for the Nov 15 show.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:08 PM

usual ticket bollocks.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:08 PM

That was awesome nooooope!

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:08 PM

i have faith :)

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:10 PM

that was super shitty

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:10 PM

wow. what a horrible setup.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:11 PM

I don't have faith :(

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:12 PM

did anyone get tickets for real?

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:13 PM

XXXXXX $35.00 $3.12 November 15, 2010 7:00 PM SUFJAN STEVENS live @ Beacon Theatre (New York, NY)

AK site died. Had to go directly to etix site and search for sufjan to find the link. The etix site actually choked pretty hard too. The strange thing is, I have no idea what seats I got.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:13 PM

To whoever got tickets - do yours have a section/row/seat on them? I got through but that part of the receipt is blank for me.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:13 PM

Did they put up 10 tickets as "presale"? Here's to Ticketmaster fees.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:14 PM

lucky you, hope they release more tickets soon

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:14 PM

Blanks on the tickets also.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:15 PM

No idea where my 4 seats are

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:16 PM

I've got two tickets in a shopping cart with a secondary browser. Tickets are going to be tied to my name.. so too bad I can't help anyone out.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:17 PM

Also scored a pair of tickets, also with no seat information at all. I sent the folks over at etix a message asking what the fuck was up with the lack of ticket info, hopefully they will send those of us who managed to get tickets an e-mail with specifics about our tickets. I've seen a show at the very, very back row of the top level of Beacon, and we basically couldn't even see the front of the stage, so here's hoping I didn't just buy a pair there.

Also, it's a little unclear from the description, but maybe it was just the first twenty rows that went on sale today? That would explain the super-quick sell-out and them not feeling like they had a need to tell us where the fuck are tickets are.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:17 PM

i thought it was now illegal in new york state to offer only will call tickets. i don't know how they are getting away with this.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:18 PM

must there always be a problem with ticket sales? you'd think that someone would come up with a working strategy that is simple for the fans and avoids scalper issues.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:19 PM

i think it was more a problem with the site, as some people got them from the etix site and not through Ak

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:21 PM

keep trying, just got through!

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:22 PM

They are still up right now... just got 4 for Sunday. No seat numbers though... hopefully the presale were decent tix

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:23 PM

Woo. Just got 2 for Monday night. Section and everything blank just like everyone else.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:23 PM

The way they get around the will-call only issue is by eventually selling hard/print at home tickets via ticketmaster to the general public.

http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/1D0044F9894C306D?artistid=920396&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=60

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:23 PM

with all these people who got through and ordered tix but don't know their seats... I'm kind of glad I didn't get through on etix.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:23 PM

but I do hope that you guys find out where your seats are/and that they are good.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:24 PM

which site you used to get them? AK or Etix?

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:24 PM

Straight through Etix.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:25 PM

it says tickets not available?

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:25 PM

I managed to get tickets for both nights. Got the 15th right away but had to keep re-requesting for the 14th. Kept saying 'none available' but eventually ones in somebody's shopping cart must have been dropped back into the pool available.

Nobody got seat info. At first I thought the AK site claimed we would all only get tickets in the first 20 rows through the pre-sale but now I'm not so sure. Maybe all the pre-sale tickets are will-call only but not necessarily all are near the front?

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:26 PM

just released two from my cart.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:26 PM

How is the loge at Beacon? I greatly enjoy the loge seats at Town Hall, how are they compared to those?

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:27 PM

guess I will have to try this friday with TM...

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:28 PM

Offering will call or paperless only tickets is now illegal in NY. It does not matter if they offer additional hard tickets through Ticketmaster. Small companies, artists still do it thinking no one will complain.

I'm glad Grinderman date was announced prior to this. Otherwise I might have purchased will call only Sufjan tickets that I would not be able to get rid of.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:30 PM

Well, the service fees on all these pre-sale tix were only $3 each total, so I'm glad to be able and enjoy the discount, regardless of seat location (which I bet are decent, anyway). Buying single tickets for each night I saved about $15 overall.

(That's a lot of hummus!)

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:35 PM

looks like it's all said and done, now to wait for friday

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:36 PM

well that sucked.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:37 PM

I'm getting in touch with the New York Consumer Affairs Department to report this illegal will-call only ticket sale.

Perhaps this sale will be nullified and e-tickets shut down.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:43 PM

That was complete and utter bullshit. Fucking ticket glitches, I guess Friday it is.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:50 PM

I am unable to find any real documentation that this wall exists.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 1:52 PM

Yes, and I see based how on the description of the law provided it might actually be applicable, but since the venue (Beacon Theater) will also be making paper tickets available to fans through the ticketmaster site, that may exempt etix from having to do so. It is unclear based on the language provided, which is, of course, written by a reporter who probably didn't even read the bill they were reporting on.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 2:04 PM

What e-tix did was ILLEGAL...the ticket seller MUST GIVE the purchaser the right to NONPAPERLESS tickets AT THE INITIAL SALE.

FROM: http://nysbar.com/blogs/EASL/2010/07/reselling_tickets_in_new_york.html

an operator or operator's agent may employ a paperless ticketing system that does not allow for independent transferability of paperless tickets ONLY if the consumer is offered an option AT THE TIME OF INITIAL SALE to purchase the same tickets in some other form that is transferrable independent of the operator or operator's agent including, but not limited to, paper tickets or e-tickets.” (Id., §8; Arts and Cultural Affairs Law, § 25.30 .1.(c)) Thus, consumers are entitled to the option to purchase a transferrable ticket AT THE TIME OF FIRST PURCHASE.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 2:06 PM

Thank god for Paterson protecting those poor poor scalpers, I mean, "ticket brokers." What would the music industry be without middlemen to take their cut?

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 2:15 PM

Yes, Paterson helped the ticket brokers but he screwed Live Nation/Ticketmaster who apparently wanted to one day be the only one who would be able to transfer a paperless ticket from the original buyer to someone else (for a fee) or back to themselves to sell again.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 2:32 PM

do you people really think AK site would be selling concert tix? they're not capable of that. jeez. read the fine print and you would have known to go to etix.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 2:33 PM

The AK site simply posted links to Etix when tickets went on sale. A quick Google search 5 minutes before tickets went on sale would've told you that was going to happen, and also that all presale tickets were going to be for the 1st 20 rows and will call only to "avoid scalping."

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 2:57 PM

I have no sympathy for scalpers, but I'm glad to hear that will call or paperless only tickets are illegal now and I hope that this will be enforced. I bought paperless tickets for last Wednesday's Arcade Fire show. Then they added a Thursday show. I would have liked getting rid of my Wednesday tickets, buying tickets for Thursday instead and seeing Hot Chip on Wednesday, but could not do it. I missed Hot Chip for no good reason.

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 4:22 PM

I had no problem getting tickets for myself and my asian girlfriend

Posted by Anonymous | August 10, 2010 4:55 PM

Dear Sufjan Stevens Fan,

Congratulations on successfully purchasing presale tickets to see Sufjan Stevens at Beacon Theatre on Nov 14!

As you may have already noticed, seat locations were not disclosed during the special fan presale. Seating will be assigned within the next 14 days in the order that tickets were purchased; a new order confirmation email will be sent to you to confirm the location of your seats.

If you are receiving this email, your ticket purchase has been confirmed and is guaranteed. As long as all of your tickets were placed together on the same order, all of your seats will be together.

If you have not received your new order confirmation email verifying the exact location of your seats within two weeks, please reply to this email for further assistance.

Thanks for participating in the Sufjan Stevens presale! We hope you enjoy the show!

Thanks,
eTix Customer Support

Thank you for another essential article. Where else could anyone get that kind of information in such a complete way of writing? I have a presentation incoming week, and I am on the lookout for such information.

Posted by Ielts | August 10, 2010 7:57 PM

Helleur! Why hasn't anyone mentioned how fucking hot he looks. Well done! Meeeeow! Yes, I am gay...

"Girlfriend who goes to the gym regularly and could kick a male Sufjan fan's ass in a second" instead "American Apparel catalogue."

regular gym goer, hey? does she look like this:
