Josh Ritter was great at Town Hall a few months ago, but I will pass on this show. Last ferry is at 5:30 for a 8:15 show? Maybe if it was a full day show.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 11:56 AM

will cut copy fill up quick?

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 11:57 AM

What time does the XX go on?

Do the free shows at Summerstage usually get packed to capacity?

Posted by mike | August 8, 2010 11:59 AM

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 12:03 PM

8/8: Doors - 6 / Jack Penate - 7 / Charlift - 7:45 / the xx - 8:45 - 10 - COME EARLY, say 5.30

"Last ferry is at 5:30 for a 8:15 show? Maybe if it was a full day show."

Are you a moron? it says:

"Dedicated concert ferries will depart starting at 7:15 PM. Please enter the ferry queue at the NORTH end of the Battery Maritime Building. Concert wristbands will be handed out, subject to availability, in the ferry queue starting at 6:45 PM."

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 12:07 PM

the xx = zzzzzzzz

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 12:09 PM

Yeah, but the concert ferries suck.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 12:20 PM

My friends were freaking out about We Barbarians last night out at governors island....I'm hitting up pianos to see what its all about. Heard they're all pretty steamy too. #summernights

Cut Copy is pretty dull on record, do people dance at their live show?

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 1:18 PM

someone i know was a recent Cut Copy show and said that the lead singer literally shit his pants towards the end of their set. Can anyone confirm this?

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 1:30 PM

I pinched out a lil brown poo that rolled down my leg whilst performing one time.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 1:33 PM

The zz cut the fart that ruined night 2 of Arcade Fire for everyone in the pit

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 1:59 PM

wouldn't mind getting my fart on in this here pit, I'll tell you that much right now

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 2:16 PM

why is chairlift allowed to still play ?

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 2:16 PM

"historically annoying crowd at xx show"

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 2:18 PM

heard from a buddy on the waterfront that cut copy is already full, and the line extends six blocks. are they really this big?

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 2:58 PM

Wailing Wall/Strand of Oaks/Will Stratton/Small Sur @ Cameo Gallery!

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 3:11 PM

Is the XX really going to fill up so fast that we have to be there at 5-530?

Posted by aaron | August 8, 2010 3:17 PM

I love Rosie O'Donnell's new band

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 3:24 PM

I'm there right now, literally no line to get in. And it's pretty empty

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 3:59 PM

rosie rox

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 4:03 PM

@Anon3:59pm - You're where...Cut Copy or The xx? Your post is totally unclear.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 4:53 PM

The Ex Models show atop the Bushwick auto parts store was postponed last night and will be taking place tonight at 9pm. Aa is still set to be the openers.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 6:46 PM

There's a line for summerstage...hearing conflicting capacity reports from security and friends inside. Show up sooner rather than later if you want any hope of getting in.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 7:10 PM

The xx is full as of 7 pm. Should've gone to Cut Copy. :(

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 7:50 PM

cut copy ruled. got there just as memory tapes started

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 7:59 PM

I was able to waltz right in to the Cut Copy show-- no line at all-- a couple hours after the doors opened. It didn't start to seem crowded until right before Cut Copy went on... which is when I heard that they were closing the line b/c of capacity. So that person telling you about a 6-block line was full of shit.

The show was alright. Those DJs (Punches) were fucking obnoxious.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 9:39 PM

those dj twins are fucking terrible. bump up to size large fellas. your shit is too tight.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 9:48 PM

punches didn't need three guys on stage, and they were given way too much time between to dj between glasser and memory tapes.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 10:22 PM

the jelly DJ's suck

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 11:12 PM

if 2 guys are dancing on stage pumping their fists into the air to jersey shore type music, does that make them gay? how about 3 guys on stage? then it turns out cut copy sounded just like the music those 3 guys were playing. should have got to xx earier.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 11:19 PM

xx was probably free show of the day. at 6:30 the line was all the way down to 72nd street, it was the longest line Ive ever seen at central park. security said place is full and to leave, so of course I just walked up front and formed in that little line of people who didnt want to leave, after that Jack Paneta started about 10 minutes later they let in about 200 people in. I dont know if anyone got in after that. I can confirm there were a lot of bros in there who had no idea why they were there except some bands were playing etc, you know the type, NYU frat boys. Also high school girls and big black dudes.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 11:19 PM

sorry, to 68th street, not 72, bottom line- line was long, place was packed.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 11:31 PM

summerstage only holds 5500 people. there were more people outside that could not get in than inside.

Posted by Anonymous | August 8, 2010 11:41 PM

the things people do to save 20 bucks

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 12:09 AM

The XX were excellent and the crowd were great.
Chairlift were ok, Jack Penante needs a band.

Posted by Israel | August 9, 2010 12:16 AM

The xx put on a good show - not sure I'd pay to see them live again because of their music style although I am into their album. But under these conditions it was cool, albeit dark... Chairlift were aight, I thought Jack Peñate was kinda dreadful at times, but thankfully it was a short set.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 12:30 AM

my butt and my balls both got licked pretty well by a stranger. Thank you bv for providing us a place to hook up!

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 12:50 AM

NEXT UP IS DAT CUT COPY

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 2:03 AM

"'Ello Brooklyn... we are PUNCHES"

'Ello douchebags.... we don't give a shit. Cut Copy put on the best free show of the year though.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 4:53 AM

The lead singer of Empire of the Sun, Luke Steele, was a CUNT in person.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 7:29 AM

Holly Miranda's set of covers was amazing.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 8:04 AM

Also, I woke up to a bunch of red wine stains around the toilet. Must have enjoyed In Vino a little too much. Oops.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 8:06 AM

"Lights & Music" = most amazing way to kick off an epic dance party

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 8:22 AM

@Anon11:19pm - You ever stop to think that perhaps the "high school girls and big black dudes" knew just as much about the The xx as you do. You sound like an elitist, racist asshole. The xx is not some big covert secret anymore pal. It's called the internet.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 8:28 AM

Can someone please tell me which person at Jelly was responsible for hiring Punches to DJ the show yesterday b/c I need to deliver them a swift kick in the nuts. Thanks!!

Posted by M | August 9, 2010 8:50 AM

@8:28 - It's called TWILIGHT.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 8:51 AM

i second the swift kick to the nuts... PUNCHES were okay for maybe 15 minutes. it quickly became apparent that their fist-pumping inciting nonsense was obnoxious beyond belief.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 9:04 AM

those punches twins need to get out of brooklyn, sick of seeing them.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 10:10 AM

was so sick of punches yesterday.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 10:24 AM

you mean you guys don't like hearing "'Ello Brooklennn... we are PUNCHES! every five minutes?" whats wrong witchu?!

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 10:29 AM

cut copy was awesome. and they did it on 1 hr of sleep after coming in from lollpalooza. i missed all the other bands, how were memory tapes, restless people and glasser? hear they very very end of memory tapes, sounded good. all in all had a GREAT time at jelly. good scene.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 10:45 AM

the capacity for the jelly parties is the squareroot of peanut butter

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 10:46 AM

Amen 8:28. So sick of people assuming that because you don't fit the archetype that you can't be into to a certain style of music. It's easier for "normal people" to discover good music nowadays and I'm glad that these bands are getting the recognition from the masses they deserve. If you want to catch them in a more intimate setting so you can brag about being there first, you just have to try harder.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 11:04 AM

apparently you have to dress like an idiot to like cut copy though.

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 11:40 AM

cut copy and empire of the state were so good live last night!! go aussies.

to anon 7:29-why was luke steele a cunt?

Posted by Anonymous | August 9, 2010 1:53 PM
