Belle and Sebastian

Like veteran indie bands from Glasgow? Want to see them live for free? Read on.

If the $50 price tag of this Thursday's (9/30) Belle and Sebastian show with Teenage Fanclub at the Williamsburg Waterfront has been scaring you off, we're giving away a pair of tickets to the show. Details below.

We're also giving away THREE pairs of tickets to tomorrow night's (9/28)  Teenage Fanclub/The Clean show at Bowery Ballroom. Details below.

Wait there's more. We're also giving away TWO pairs of tickets to see The Vaselines on October 6 at Webster Hall.  Details below.

The waterfront show on Thursday is the kickoff to Belle and Sebastian's tour. Fellow Glaswegians Teenage Fanclub are opening. Tickets are still available. Let's hope the current rainy forceast changes by then. The band also performs on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday (9/29) night. After the Waterfront show, the band head's to Las Vegas for this weekend's Matador 21 extravaganza, make a short detour into Mexico, and will then backtrack east across North America.

Belle and Sebastian

The band's eighth album, Write About Love, will be out October 12 and is Belle & Sebastian's first in nearly five years. A decade and a half into their career, you pretty much know what to expect from Stuart Murdoch, Stevie Jackson and the rest of the band, but since 2001's Dear Catastrophe Waitress the group's quality control has been pretty high. (2006's The Life Pursuit was especially good I thought.) Write About Love is another lovely record in the band's cannon. The vinyl comes with a bonus 7" containing two songs not on the album.

There are a couple of surprising guest vocalists.  Carey Mulligan, Oscar-nominated star of An Education, sings on the album's title track (which you can download for free via a widget at the bottom of this post), and Norah Jones features on "Little Lou, Ugly Jack, Prophet John."

The band have taken some interesting routes promoting the new album. Earlier this year they encouraged fans to take pictures with the album's title incorporated into the shot, creating a Flickr pool for the project. Murdoch included his favorites in an entertaining half-hour "television" program (not sure if it aired anywhere but online) that is a mix of live performance, audience Q&A, and a discussion of the current state of the music industry. In a cute, charming way, of course. You can watch it below.

It is also worth noting that Belle and Sebastian have some really impressive openers along the way, including The Vaselines (Mexico dates), Versus in Washington D.C., Dean & Britta doing the Galaxie 500 thing in Boston, and Trashcan Sinatras in Seattle. All dates are at the bottom of this post.

Teenage Fanclub

Teenage Fanclub, who open the Waterfront show, have two headlining shows of their own -- tonight (9/27) and tomorrow (9/28) -- at Bowery Ballroom. Tickets are still available for both (click the links). Tomorrow's show is the more desirable of the two, with New Zealand indie rock legends The Clean as co-headliners. Merge labelmates The Radar Brother open both shows other dates on the tour.

If you somehow got this far into this post without reading it, we're giving away tickets to the show tomorrow with the Clean. See details below.

Teenage Fanclub's new album on Merge, Shadows, is the band's seventh. Like what I said about Belle and Sebastian above, you know what you're getting with a new TFC album at this point (midtempo, harmony-laden guitar pop indebted to Big Star and The Byrds) but the band has remained amazingly consistent during their 20-year history. It doesn't hurt that they have three very good songwriters in the band. (Though we can all agree Gerry Love is the best, right? No? Your mileage may vary.)  You can stream the whole thing over at Merge's website. And they have always been good live, funny too.

Teenage Fanclub's North American tour with The Radar Brothers takes them across the continent, ending in Vancouver on October 16. All dates are at the bottom of this post.

One of the TFC dates is opening for The Vaselines in DC on Saturday (10/2). That's where the Vaselines are launching their own North American tour. Will there be any musicians over the age of 37 actually in Glasgow next week? The Vaselines tour hits NYC next week when they play Webster Hall on Wednesday, October 6 with openers Jeffrey Lewis and Crystal Stilts. If you haven't heard The Vaselines' new album Sex with an Ex, it picks right up where the band left off 20 years ago: smart, funny, filthy, and catchy as hell. And still genuinely great live.

All tour dates for Belle & Sebastian, Teenage Fanclub and The Vaselines are below, along with videos, contest details, widgets and whatnot.

Very Sad I cannot make this show, and hoping Belle and Sebastian come back to NYC in a few months for a proper full US tour for Write About Love.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 6:43 PM

Seems to be a lot of tickets available for this one. How much do you think they will go for outside the venue? Plus, they are calling for some crappy weather too.

God willing if they tour again, T5...ugh.. Fingers crossed for the Wellmont

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 8:55 PM

when does this thursday Belle and Sebastian show start? set times?

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 9:42 PM

I can't make it Thursday but guessing they will do a full album tour...although I do fear that could mean two nights at T5...

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 9:44 PM

What happens if it rains? Would it be cancelled? I'm assuming umbrellas aren't allowed.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 9:54 PM

cant wait to see kurts fav band...omg!!

they're new shit is ill

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 10:39 PM

No umbrellas..rain or shines as the ticket states.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 7:14 AM

where does it state no umbrellas? can you even carry one w/ you to the show and then not put it up during the show?

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 7:53 AM

usually says it on the back of the ticket in tiny tiny print!

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 8:09 AM

I cant wait to see them live

Posted by Prestiti Senza Busta Paga | September 28, 2010 9:13 AM

ever hear of a poncho? only assholes bring umbrellas to concerts.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 9:23 AM

I can't wait to burn alive

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 9:24 AM

Will Damon and Naomi be on the guest list for the B&S show in Boston?

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 9:31 AM

cannot wait for thursday. i don't care if it's a monsoon out there. it will still be amazing.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 9:35 AM

Isn't a bit of rain appropriate for a Glasgow band? If it does pour, I hope it moves to Brooklyn Bowl...

>>

7000 people to Brooklyn Bowl..sounds like a plan

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 9:50 AM

just like that cap n jazz. no one was mad about that. not me. nope. never.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 9:58 AM

Forecast now calls for pouring rain all day. They would be smart to just postpone this thing.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 10:05 AM

Forecast now calls for pouring rain all day. They would be smart to just postpone this thing.

>>

Postpone until when ? look at the bands schedule.. last chance for outdoor show. what if they just moved it to tomorrow? I guess notifying everyone might be a bit tricky.... but tomorrow looks nice all day..

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 10:13 AM

and brooklyn bowl is fully booked on Thursday night. as is MHOW (i actually wouldn't be surprised if people were trying to hit up B&S and get over to MHOW afterward for Best Coast).

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 10:15 AM

Brooklyn Bowl & MHOW are moot points..they hold 10% of what Waterfront holds..

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 10:17 AM

this will get moved to T5

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 10:40 AM

it's an AEG event anyway... wouldn't get moved to a BP venue. If anything... maybe Hammerstein if there's nothing in there tomorrow.

But realistically, they'll pray it won't rain too bad on Thursday... and hopefully the show will go on... wet or not. The main thing is that it doesn't lightning.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 11:10 AM

"ever hear of a poncho? only assholes bring umbrellas to concerts."

I agree 100%

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 11:19 AM

If you want an umbrella at a concert stand in the very last row and don't block everyones view then it is ok!

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 11:25 AM

I dont think there will be lightning... the high temp on thursday is only 72..figure by evening high 60's.. not really conducive for lightning.. It will rain thursday but hopefully there will be lulls.. rain or shine , folks ! B & S for their dour rep are actually super fun live and they will make it worth getting wet..

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 11:26 AM

agreed 11:25... but most people are not as considerate as you and think they can stand in the front... where, for obvious reasons, it's a total douche thing to do.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 11:36 AM

Is 11:26 Mr. G?

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 11:49 AM

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 11:50 PM

does anyone know if this show will happen ? it seems like the weather reports have gone from bad to worse.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 12:01 PM

^RAIN OR SHINE! IT SAYS IT ON THE TICKET! They would not cancel until they hear thunder..then maybe they will cancel..by that time everyone will already be there I am sure!

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 12:16 PM

They're now basically forecasting tropical storm conditions. They should push it to Friday --there's a gap in the tour schedule, and B+S should not have to ruin all of their equipment at the start of a tour in 50 mph horizontal rain off the East River. Call me a wimp, but it's not my idea of a good time either.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 2:39 PM

rain and 20 mph winds is what I see on weather.com...not tropical storm but sucks none the less! I hope they play another sunny day tomorrow...oye vey!

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 2:49 PM

"here's a gap in the tour schedule".

Not much of a gap. They still have to get to Vegas by saturday and Richard would have to pull a double shift as he's playing with Tired Pony @ Irving Plaza friday. If the show gets rained out it'll be postponed to a much later date (like the Modest Mouse show) to give everyone enough notice in case they'd need a refund.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 3:18 PM

Does anyone know where to check on concert status tomorrow? Doesn't say on the tix.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 3:23 PM

they should really just move it to an indoor venue... like Hammerstein or something.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 3:25 PM

They should play Radio City! That would be an amazing show! And a much nicer venue for them then the Wburg Waterfront.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 3:42 PM

Gaslight Anthem at Radio City tomorrow...

Hammerstein is too small as a substitute , plus its a bit of geographical shift (in NYC terms on an early weeknight show)

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 3:55 PM

I'm a huge fan, but I don't want to stand around in a tropical storm for three hours. Meh.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 3:56 PM

you're obviously not a huge fan 3:56.

huge fans will still get to the venue tomorrow at least an hour or two before the gates open to secure a good spot. even in a tropical storm.

no... you would be a "fairweather" fan. and you are probably only into the first three records and lament about how the more recent output sounds too "different" from the early stuff.

just stay home. us real fans don't want you there anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 5:15 PM

5:15 would rescue his God Help The Girl 7"s from a fire before he helped his significant other.

Oh and that's "we real fans" not "us real fans." For christ's sake, get your grammar together. You sound like a Teabagger.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 5:32 PM

Seems pretty clear that:

(a.) they won't reschedule unless it is pretty crazy bad out there.
(b.) if they reschedule, it'll be a few weeks down the line, probably still at the waterfront, as happened with Modest Mouse. Yes, it's further into the fall than usual for this type of show, but mid-October isn't exactly inhumane outdoor conditions.

AccuWeather seems to have backed away from the thunder/lightning predictions and is now "only" saying heavy winds and rain. Their hour-by-hour for tomorrow, which I'm sure will change, actually has the 5-9PM timeframe as the least rainy (which is to say on-and-off rain rather than constant). I doubt they'll do a pre-emptive reschedule or move indoors on a rain-or-shine show until it looks (even) worse.

Posted by rockmarooned | September 29, 2010 5:34 PM

Its the last show for the year at Waterfront...I'm sure all the staging etc will come down after tomorrow.. don't see them building the whole site back up for one show

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 6:30 PM

If this does get moved, it would be moved to the nokia theater, as both share the same promoter.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 6:35 PM

why do people think you can move 7000 people into 2000-3000 venues... ?

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 6:43 PM

people are just speculating the options. obviously... this isn't going to get moved.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 7:20 PM

5:15 is a chick.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 9:14 PM

Fallon taping was fun albeit boring till b&s, they played write about love and slow ballad version of piazza new york catcher...

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 9:32 PM

Thanks for clearing that up, 9:14. But I believe the term is "cunt."

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 9:33 PM

nokia doesn't exist anymore. it's now best buy theater!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 4:10 AM

from the B&S q&a today:

Q.Forecast calls for heavy rain tomorrow for the waterfront show. Are you still going on or will it reschedule? love you guys, but would be a bummer to have to stand in the rain.

A. we thought a lot about it, but we're going to go ahead with it, unless conditions are so bad that they don't let us on the stage. there is no viable alternative ..

put your galoshes on and we'll have a ball!

Stuart - 30/09/10

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 6:42 AM

thx 642a.

Looks like I need to pick up a poncho.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 6:59 AM

I'll show up but now I kind of hope their equipment does get destroyed. It's all about the $$$$ apparently.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 7:44 AM

Interesting thing is they are no longer selling tickets on ticketmaster! HMmm..I predict a cancellation or postponement!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 7:55 AM

I don't think that has anything to do with the rain. I'm pretty sure they just don't sell "day of" tickets for Williamsburg Waterfront shows on TM.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 9:15 AM

They did for Band of Horses..

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 9:25 AM

I guess we'll just have to wait and see... I got my poncho and rainboots ready!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 9:31 AM

Stuart responded to the Q and A again:

A. if it can't go ahead, then we'll do everything possible to rearrange for the end of october, and if that's not happening, then of course we'll be back! come on, it's NY!

but i must stress, that as i write we're still all go for tonight..

will advise furthur later

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 9:51 AM

thanks 951!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 9:52 AM

Ha..watch they will cancel then do 2 dates at T5 instead in October...

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 9:56 AM

Ugh, here's my fear: we'll all stand around for 2 hours tonight getting soaked and tossed around by the wind while they figure out just how bad it is and then either tell us it's off or play for 25 minutes and call that a show. I'd take Terminal 5 any day.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 10:04 AM

well... if they only play for 25 minutes... at least they'll issue refunds. that would be redic!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 10:06 AM

the updated forecast for tonight is heavy rains and hummus.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 10:07 AM

All these hummus comments get me "pea'ved. I really hoped they would "Pita" out!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 10:13 AM

It Modest Mouse did they get on the stage on "time" or was it delayed due to the rain...I known they eventually cancelled just wanted to see if they pushed it back first!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 10:14 AM

i hate all these poser fans. youre really not willing to get a little wet for belle and sebastian? really? do you even like music?

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 10:16 AM

me too 10:16... what a bunch of little bitches. as long as there is no lighting and the field isn't a lake... i'm sure the show will go on.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 10:20 AM

10:16 If 3 inches of rain is a little wet then it must take alot for you to get your girlfriend really wet!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 10:27 AM

what the hell are you talking about, 10:27?

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 10:30 AM

I get what 1027 is sayin..dude at 1016 is saying why are people complaining about getting a little wet. 1027 is stating since it is going to rain 3 inches today that should not be equated with getting a little wet since it is a rare occurance....so if 3 inches is a little wet it must take a lot to get very wet!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 10:32 AM

A. if it can't go ahead, then we'll do everything possible to rearrange for the end of october, and if that's not happening, then of course we'll be back! come on, it's NY!
but i must stress, that as i write we're still all go for tonight..

The above sounds like it might already be off. They just haven't officially announced it yet.

That's way tooo much detailed info about a possible cancelation if they have no intention to.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 10:54 AM

A rescheduled show will be impossible, as AEG has no other venue with similar capacity.

Unless they move it to the Prudential Center in Newark - this is a refund, not a reschedule.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 10:56 AM

1056..it doesn't mean they can't cancel then do new shows with a different promoter..

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:01 AM

When other shows have been cancelled at williamsburg waterfront, how were ticketholders notified?

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:11 AM

Why cancel? So it rains a bit, who cares? Doesn't everyone take showers every day? Just buy a good poncho and move on.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:21 AM

modest mouse. they mailed everyone a letter that ordered tickets and said show is postponed. bad thing was people didn't get that letter until 8 days after the show and standing in a wind/rainstorm.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:22 AM

Umm 1121 rain ok..lightning not ok..its forcasted for tonight...

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:25 AM

10:54, you're right, "the end of October" is INSANELY detailed information! There's no way they were just looking at their options in case there's a thunderstorm! No other explanation! The show is off!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:26 AM

Why can't it be done end of October at Williamsburg Waterfront...vendors could sell hot chocolate etc will be fun!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:28 AM

the show is not sold out and they pulled the ticket sale off of Ticketmaster this morning. Usually they only pull it by later in the day closer to the show itself.

Methinks this is cancelled.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:30 AM

^agreed

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:33 AM

you people just WANT it to be cancelled. faithless bastards.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:34 AM

if it's cancelled, hopefully they will just let people know in advance. But probably not. They will call it right before showtime, creating a huge headache for all involved.

^Yeah if they do it they should announce it by 12 as a courtesy!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:37 AM

If cancelled, I doubt they would announce by 12, but I hope so.

They'll probably push off the inevitable for as long as possible even though they know that it's not going forward. People will show up there in the rain only to be told to go home.

They should just do the show tonight, but I'd rather they cancel now earlier in the day, than later if they are going to, or even worse, after twenty minutes of the show when all the equipment is soaking wet and the winds are ripping the stage apart.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:44 AM

OSA facebook just posted saying show is still on.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:48 AM

OSA?

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:51 AM

Ahhh thanks! Duh!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:54 AM

anyone posting right now that the show is still on is giving pointless information.

Of course as of now the show is still on. Until they make an announcement to the contrary, the show is going to still be on.

The question is, will it be cancelled? and if so, when?

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:55 AM

i've heard that the show tonight is still on.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:56 AM

but if someone like OSA is going out of their way to post the show is still on, then that might mean something... think of it that way.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:58 AM

People posting that anyone who doesn't want to stand in a potentially dangerous storm for 3+ hours aren't "real fans" should just hang themselves. Seriously. You don't belong on this planet.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:59 AM

^^^ spoken by a true non-fan.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 12:13 PM

Show is still on until they cancel it

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 12:25 PM

actually, it's stevie jackson... 12:13...

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 12:29 PM

12:25 obvious statement of the day!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 12:31 PM

In 2009 two rained out free shows were moved to Brooklyn Bowl, but I don't think they can possibly fit all the paying customers for this gig. My hunch is that since it's GA, they might move it to a smaller venue, and folks who don't fit will get the refunds.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 12:40 PM

yo 12:40. a promoter would never do that. are you an idiot?

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 12:41 PM

And there really isn't a decent (vacant) GA venue to move it to tonight. T5 is booked and I doubt they could move it to Hammerstein on such short notice (they use union stagehands and what not). Brooklyn Bowl is booked, as is MHOW. There really aren't many options, and they can't do it tomorrow either.

It'll either happen tonight at WW, or it won't happen at all.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 12:46 PM

it won't be moved anywhere. It will either go on as planned or it will be postponed and/or cancelled outright.

or it will go on as planned and then cancelled as it is happening.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 12:47 PM

If I were the band I wouldn't be too excited. All that electrical equipment and steel and water doesn't seem to go well together.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 12:49 PM

there's too much money involved for any cancellation to occur until it is absolutely necessary, which means everyone will show up go in get completely soaked, watch Teenage Fanclub and then ten minutes of Belle and Sebastian before they pull the plug sending everyone home and reschedule.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 12:58 PM

^ unfortunatley true...as they will lose a lot of money on lodging, stage hands, security who they already got to pay...if they reschedule there expenses will double more or less.

they should just let the wind knock down the stage. That way they don't have to dismantle it.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 1:33 PM

^ That would blow!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 1:34 PM

What time does the Blow go on?

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 1:42 PM

The Blow is going on at 6pm, playing for five minutes then they are calling the show.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 1:43 PM

12:58...i can only hope that's what happens.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 1:57 PM

the less it rains during the day today, slimmer are the chances it will be cancelled in advance.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 1:58 PM

they'll just wait until all the people are inside the venue and the monsoon hits and and then force everyone out.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 1:58 PM

1:58...great im sure my flimsy wet ticket will be good for a rescheduled show!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:00 PM

IF they reschedule there's no guarantee that the bill we remain the same. Teenage Fanclub may not be on a rescheduled bill if they are not touring.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:02 PM

Who is going for Teenage Fanclub..you can see them at many other venues in the area indoors!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:03 PM

just heard from my friend who hands out the 21+ wristbands for osa, this shit won't get cancelled unless lightning is visible within 10 miles AFTER teenage fanclub has started. don't worry... for now.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:05 PM

^ real comforting!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:06 PM

Before the Bowery Ballroom shows earlier this week, last time Teenage Fanclub played NYC was five years ago, and that was also at the Bowery Ballroom, so they don't come around here much and they don't play 'many other venues in the area indoors';.

Besides, the B&S, Teenage Fanclub bill is a great combination.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:08 PM

"unless lightning is visible within 10 miles AFTER teenage fanclub has started. "

so it's okay for Teenage Fanclub to get electrocuted?

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:10 PM

I last saw Teenage Fan Club open for Radiohead at the Hammerstein in 97...just sayin

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:11 PM

I wouldn't be surprised if Teenage Fanclub went on earlier than originally planned....

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:11 PM

210..it is shocking I agree!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:12 PM

2:03...COULD have seen them at other venues indoors.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:12 PM

^even more so then...everyone should have just seen them

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:13 PM

2:11, they're old now.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:14 PM

party's moved to brooklyn bowl, folks.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:23 PM

^Merch tent will be busy tonight!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 2:36 PM

Seems like the weather report is improving...slightly. It might not start really coming down hard until the end of the B&S set.

Hope for the best, ya?

"potentially dangerous storm"

There is nothing dangerous about rain unless you live next to a river. Get over yourself, there is nothing dangerous about rain. Lightning, yes.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 3:07 PM

um.... lotsa water and electrical equipment are never a good thing.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 3:14 PM

not dangerous? Why don't you bring your stereo outside in the rain play some B$S and and see if you get a shock.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 3:15 PM

B&S just tweeted that they are going to go on a half hour early to avoid the rain:
B&S taking the stage half an hour early tonight to beat the storms: onstage at 8pm! Please RT, phone your friends, etc. See you there!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 5:05 PM

Does the venue allow you to bring an umbrella in (not for during the show, but just to use while waiting?). I don't want to have mine confiscated!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 5:28 PM

all that speculating and there was barely a drop of rain.... looks like i was right. whiners: 0. me: 1.

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:09 PM

Yeah, I was one of the whiners, and fuck that was an amazing concert! Kindest band ever. They even brought prizes!

Posted by Anonymous | September 30, 2010 11:35 PM

lights during Judy were fucking mesmerizing

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 1:18 AM

No rain whatsoever - absolutely gorgeous. B&S went on early so played an extra long set. Many thanks to the band and OSA, who despite "100% probability" of torrential monsoons, determined to try to satisfy fans. Thank you.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 1:57 AM

The band was great. The weather turned out nice. The sound was better than usual for Waterfront despite the wind. Not bad for a giant outdoor space concert. Let's hope they'll play a proper venue soon and it'll likely be a 10 times better experience overall.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 2:18 AM

11:09 playing both sides of the fence I see...its alright..I was one of the worried ones and sometimes you are wrong. I was wrong yesterday and I admit it! I move on..

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 7:23 AM

it's pouring rain now! does that mean work is cancelled? where do i find out if it is? will brooklynvegan post it?!?!?!

940 thanks for the setlist!

truly an incredible show. definitely one i'll remember for a very long time. might be the best B&S show I've seen... and I've seen a bunch!

"Many thanks to the band and OSA, who despite "100% probability" of torrential monsoons, determined to try to satisfy fans. Thank you."

and determined to keep all the money they made and would have had to lose if cancelled.

Nothing in the drawing relates to the sound it makes. It’s an art project. It’s not supposed to make sense.
