Boys Noize at HARD NYC (more by Zachary Alex Stern)
Boys Noize

Boys Noize will team up with Rusko for a date at Webster Hall on 10/29. The two electronic artists, who both just played Electric Zoo (and who both played different dates on the recent HARD tour), are criscrossing in NYC, but each are hitting the road for much larger separate tours in promotion of their latest LPs, Power and O.M.G.! respectively. Full tour dates for both are below.

Three weeks after Boys Noize/Rusko, look for Z-Trip to bring his cornucopia of beats to Webster Hall (11/19), his only East Coast date so far. Full dates are below, as well as a recent (and awesome) Marvin Gaye/2Pac blend by Z-Trip commissioned by Afeni Shakur.

"I made this blend of Tupac's "Better Dayz" with Marvin Gaye's jam "Inner City Blues" after a request from Afeni Shakur (Tupac's mom!). It's supposed to be a conversation between the two artists...

Hope you enjoy it... -Z-Trip"

BN!

BN was fantastic at Electric Zoo...that's the problem...I can't envision seeing him at Webster Hall now.

OMG THE WORKOUT OF PUTTING CDS IN A DISC PLAYER!!

That's the same night as Local Natives so I guess Boyz Noise/Rusko will be a late gig. Rusko's schedule above says he's playing New Orleans on 10/29 and also New York on 10/29. Two gigs in a day about 1,500 miles apart? Seems like a stretch...

You know what? Someone can sit on stage and twiddle their thumbs and if it makes me dance, I don't care what they are doing or playing...as long as I'm dancing.

@6:00 pm...I'm with you.

with the MAGIC of beatmatching software the talent of actually mixing & DJing is gone.

i think sure
there's plenty of DJ's that can do it with whatever be it CDJ decks, laptops, ipods, etc..

and that goes along with the whole "if it makes me dance whatever" thing. sure i agree.

but
i'm really only ever impressed with a DJ using vinyl turntables.
no serato, traktor, robots, or apple products involved.

Because of the technology everyone can be a DJ now, and the sad part is it created 1000 shitty DJs and the quality of music has dropped so drastically. The art form of mixing vinyl has unfortunately become rather rare, and the standards of what a is DJ has dropped. It's a sad state of affairs, but as the old saying goes... "bullshit may get you to the top, but it won't keep you there"

If it ain't wax then it ain't good... Amen!

ALL IM SAYING IS LIE TO ME, MAKE ME THINK YOURE DOING SOMETHING. TELL YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER TO TAKE PICS FROM THE FRONT SO I CANT SEE YOUR HANDS

"Is being a DJ really so FUCKING hard that you can't carry the records?" - James Murphy

For what it's worth, of all the DJ's I have seen who are truly skilled and spin real vinyl, RJD2, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Kid Koala, etc, they never really make me dance as hard. Good stuff, but not as good for the raging.

Also, Kid Koala has a vinyl cutter and makes his own records. This is not THAT different from using Serato.

whatever, purists.

why put constraints on music

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 1:34 PM

ps. - Z Trip is aWESOME live. hes an amazing dj and yeah he uses serato like everyone else that isnt a fuckn technology snob.

If you compare the DJs that use Vinyl and the DJs that use plastic buttons this debate ends.

Wax > Plastic
