Charlatans @ Best Buy in NYC - 9/14/2010

The drummer for The Charlatans, Jon Brookes, collapsed on stage last night during a gig at Philadelphia's Johnny Brenda's.The Charlatans just played shows at Bowery Ballroom, Music Hall of Williamsburg and Maxwell's (and Best Buy) before heading to Philly. Feel better Jon!Early into the set Brookes suddenly collapsed and stopped breathing. Fortunately there was a doctor in the audience who administered first aid and got the drummer breathing again before the paramedics arrived minutes later. Brookes was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Philadelphia and during the night was given a CAT scan and has been responding well to treatment. He has now been transferred to a larger hospital in the city for further tests, although his condition is said to be improving and doctors believe there will be no long term effects on his health.
Fans are advised to check the website regarding future gigs.
Two videos from the Best Buy show (which took place one day before Philly), below...

I think you mean the Charlatans UK. I don't understand why bands try to re-use band names that were used already.

great drummer but the bowery show was merely ok...tim sucks as a frontman.

11:06 there, you got your 1 second of anonymous fame on the blog. Hope it made you feel better - try and learn not to be a piece of shit next time.

I hope he's okay.
They were great at Maxwell's. I thought BV would review at least one of the NYC shows. Here is the review from Maxwell's that I wrote for the Newark Star Ledger

Get better soon Jon. It was awesome getting to meet you and the band at Best Buy. Truly a nice guy. The Charlatans put on a great show at The Bowery. Was easily one of my fav shows of theirs.

First - its a shame out of the three NYC area shows that BV couldn't have covered at least one of them considering all the crap bands found on this site. The Charlatans are UK legends
Second - The Maxwell's show was fucking epic. Great review Jim..Much better than the drivel music snob posted on his site a couple of days ago.
Third - Anyone who makes fun of somebody that went through the experience Jon did last night is a total asshole. Plain and simple. I was there and it was horrifying. Up until the incident occurred his drumming was stellar as usual. No coke was involved dipshit.

BV gives the Charlatans plenty of attention, so why don't you chill with your nasty remarks.

Take THAT, all you losers who complain about concertgoers being "too old!"
When you are at your precious 18- to 22-only shows, there will be no doctors there to save you if you choke on your PBR!

11:06 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Wow, you got the San Francisco Nuggets compilation for Christmas a couple years ago and now you want to school us all.
Guess what, moron, in the UK they are called the Charlatans.
Don't know why kids who learn ancient rock trivia feel the need to try to use it again on people who already know and don't care.

Excellent review, Jim Testa - Are you the same Jim Testa that did Jeresy Beat? I read it religiously in gasp, print form. And a routine internet search has proved it is you - wish I caught this show
