LCD Soundsystem @ Pitchfork Fest 2010 (more by Kate Gardiner)
LCD

Speaking of Angel Orensanz,

Microsoft Advertising Presents LCD Soundsystem

WHEN: Wednesday, September 29, 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm
WHERE: Angel Orensanz Foundation, 172 Norfolk Street

EVENT DESCRIPTION
Advertising Week is excited to partner with Microsoft Advertising to bring you THE party of The Week. Fresh off their summer European Festival headlining tour, the grammy nominated band will be coming home for a one night only performance at the Angel Oresanaz Foundation, bringing their high energy mix of electro/punk/disco to the stage. This party is by invite/ticket only.

I think this will be LCD Soundsystem's first NYC show (if private shows count) since the run at Terminal 5, though they just played Wellmont Theater in NJ the other day.

LCD's current tour brings them to Boston tonight (9/28), and also had them in Philly over the weekend (a post about that show coming shortly).

Advertising Week runs through Friday.

When are you gonna post about The Kings Of Leon shows?

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 1:48 PM

way to get that paper, james.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 1:49 PM

Private shows are the new punk rock.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 1:54 PM

how does one acquire a "ticket" to this?

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 1:54 PM

Great great venue. Too bad Sigur Ros never did a show there.

Tiny place, so I doubt you will be able to get a ticket if you already do not have one.

Seriously, KoL shows? No post about them? Cmon, they announced them on 101.9 yesterday morning!

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 2:10 PM

Invite-only event. Ugh.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 2:10 PM

Kings of Leon?! ugh. I remember seeing them at the Bowery and they got booed off stage... #1 favorite band of soccer moms!

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 2:26 PM

Saw Kings of Leon open for the Strokes at Theater at MSG and open for U2 in Philly both times they were awfuuuuuul!

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 2:31 PM

kings of Leon a band best known for their haircuts and getting pooped in their mouths and then walking out on their audience- there, how's that for a post

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 2:37 PM

sell outs

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 2:42 PM

i can't even imagine how lame this crowd will be. advertising and sales execs at an LCD Soundsystem concert? i went to the Strokes at Tommy Hilfiger's party and at least Fashion people know how to have fun. they should've hired James Taylor or Taylor Swift.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 3:45 PM

is there any truth to the nye rumors?

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 4:07 PM

Actually seems like an apropos gig as I've always thought James Murphy looks like an advertising or marketing guy from Jersey (after an all-night bender).

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 4:12 PM

I was always surprised at how long ad buyers are. A bunch of kids (early '20s), buying (tens and hundreds of) thousands of dollars of ads.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 4:28 PM

how much did they get for this you figure? $25k?

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 5:01 PM

More like 125K. They wouldn't do anything for less than that.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 5:50 PM

^^^^^^try $75-100k.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 5:51 PM

NYE show is NOT true.

Posted by Anonymous | September 28, 2010 6:10 PM

Yeah, gotta love these NYE fake rumor hounds. They try so hard to mess with people on that and they don't come even close, haha!

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 10:38 AM

"NYE show is NOT true"

Why would you even feel the need to post this? Anyone who thinks those 4 bands would play NYE at a place as small as Brooklyn Bowl deserves to be standing outside there for hours in the cold.

And WTF do Kings of Leon have to do with this post? This place gets the dumbest comments on the entire internet.

Posted by Anonymous | September 29, 2010 1:15 PM

I was at this show and it was awesome. And ever awesomer that you weren't there.

oh wait - its tonight.
