Mark Olson @ Rockwood Music Hall in June (more by Kurt Christensen)
Mark Olson

These days, Olson said he's focusing on his songcraft and on writing the best songs he can, and trying not to be overly concerned about the volatile nature of the music industry.

"My whole life, basically since I got out of high school, has been involved with the idea of trying to write a darn good song," he said. "I just want to express myself and sing and play the best I can, and the other stuff will take care of itself. I don't have any control over whether a certain amount of people hear the music, or whether a certain number of people will come to a certain show." [The Capital Times]

Jayhwawk Mark Olson is in the midst of a tour, playing small venue shows, in support of his recently released album Many Colored Kite. That tour hits Joe's Pub in NYC Friday night, and ends back in NYC, at Brooklyn's Rock Shop on September 29th. All dates below...

The Jayhawks are better than Wilco. There I said it.

7:14....I am a bigger Wilco fan and I hear where you are coming from. I think Jayhawks impact was larger though. I give the Jayhawks a ton of credit and they are the true pioneers of said genre. I am still amazed though how unpopular the Jayhawks are and it is a shame Marc Olson is playing to such tiny audiences...I will probably cath the show on Wed at the Rock Shop!
