The Walkmen on Governors Island in August (more by Dominick Mastrangelo)
The Walkmen

"We took two trips to Lisbon over the course of writing this record... None of us had ever been there, and we were really blown away by the place. The topography and architecture are stunningly handsome. Even when we were there for the rainy season - it literally never stopped raining - it was a trip that outshone a lot of others. We've never had much luck at all in Europe, and the Portuguese were surprisingly accommodating. I think those two trips really helped keep us motivated while making this record. We named the record Lisbon as sort of a 'thank you' and a small tribute." -[The Walkmen frontman Hamilton Leithauser to NPR]
The Walkmen, currently on a tour of the west coast, will return to the town that inspired the album on November 14th. That's exactly two months after the album's U.S. release date. "Lisbon" is out Tuesday, September 14th, in various packages that include 7" vinyl, 12: vinyl, CD, tees, and everything in between. It's also currently streaming at NPR.

The last NYC show took place on Governors Island in August. The next will happen at Terminal 5 on December 2nd. Tickets go on AmEx presale Wednesday (9/15), and then regular sale at noon two days later.

they disappoint by booking T5

are they really big enough for a 3,000 cap room though? weren't they opening for a free dinosaur jr. summerstage show last year?

Wow..yeah last few times I saw them was in Bowery, Webster, Irving, Bell House, Knitting Factory, Central Park...I guess they made the bid time now and I am happy for them..I still don't see T5 selling out...will get a cheap one on ebay...

made the big time..

they were great opening for Grizzly least what I could hear over the nonstop chatter in the crowd. Like everything else, T5 is what you make it....get there a little early, stake out a good spot, and it's fine. Should be especially so for a great band like this in what should not be a packed house.

why oh why Terminal 5. Please play a smaller show soon!

they are one of the best live shows I've ever seen. I saw them carry the main stage at coachella a while back, after numerous bands failed miserably.

Awesome band. Been making consistently good records for a decade.

feel like the new album 'fell off' a bit. liked the sound of the first single, but didn't really dig the album altogether. boo
