"Titus andronicus never fail to be impressive. Clap on bros, clap on." -KrissyRubbles

"Titus Andronicus is still the best band in the world.
Webster Hall cannot contain them." -totale

Patrick Stickles on stage @ Webster Saturday night
Titus Andronicsus

"Lead singer Patrick Stickles made it clear that Saturday night's show was a special one for the band. It was the last show of their current tour; it was a near-hometown concert (the band is from New Jersey) and thus many family members were in the audience. Stickles especially pointed out his father, standing in the front row of the balcony right in front of the stage. The presence of his father seemed to fit perfectly with the night, as Titus Andronicus came off as that loveable little band that started in obscurity and is getting bigger and bigger with each go-around. You couldn't help but feel a bit of pride, even if you had nothing to do with the band's growth." [Muzzle of Bees]
Titus Andronicus played Webster Hall Saturday night (9/25) with an impressive supporting cast of Free Energy and Screaming Females. The show completed a touring cycle for TA and FE that kicked off with a zillion degree show at Glasslands (without FE) and a show at Maxwell's (with FE) in mid-August.

Unlike Free Energy and Screaming Females, Titus Andronicus don't have many upcoming shows on their schedule at the moment, but they do have at least one. Catch them with Adam Haworth Stephens and The Felice Brothers at The Chance in Poughkeepsie, NY on October 30th, Mischief Night 2010. Tickets are on sale.

The Chance is the biggest dump in one of the dumpiest cities (Poughkeepsie) in the dumpiest part of the state (upstate) !

overrated

The best band in the world. Come on they were not even the best band at the venue (Free Energy was excellent). The reveiwer needs to work on his point of reference which is lacking.

12:51...yeah the chance is a really acraphole. Was there once in 2003 and haven't been back since!

Set lists? How full was Webster? Did it sell out?

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 1:01 PM

uh 12:56 you need to see the ear, nose and throat doctor as you obviously have lost your sense of hearing. Free Energy just plain SUCK!

Concert of the year. The only band that matter.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 1:04 PM

im guessing the reviewer is being over-enthusiastic for effect, which is what titus' stage persona is all about.

titus is one of the more promising bands in he current scene. they are not totally there yet, but anyone who cant see that there is substance and promise havn't got a clue.

Titus front man like big bowl of hummus !

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 1:09 PM

It was a fun show. Never saw TA before, but they're impressive live.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 1:23 PM

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 1:29 PM

Titus + Free Energy = most boring bands EVER.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 1:32 PM

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 1:40 PM

come on guys they have so much substance and promise!

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 2:09 PM

two fun facts: i) patrick's beard is made of hummus and ii) every time a cowbell sound is made on a Free Energy record a hummus gets its wings.

Gotta love the photo of the douchebag photographing himself with his iPhone while crowd surfing.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 2:27 PM

Titus Andronicus is essentially the modern Rolling Stones...with Real Estate being the modern Beatles.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 2:28 PM

Could not give tickets away when these guys played Mercury lounge new years eve.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 3:10 PM

^ it takes time for a band to get enough momentum to headline a spot like Webster Hall. I can understand how just pass new years they had trouble packing Mercury. People need to catch wind of who they are... They need to experience it, or hear others talking about how good they are. It's actually similar to hummus. At first people may scorn the chickpea, and even hate it... But in time after a few samples, they can't get enough. Some people take a long time, and for others, it's love at first pita.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 3:15 PM

the lead dude dipped his beard into a bowl of banana infused hummus.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 3:18 PM

Wow, these dudes came a long way - including many line up changes too. Best time seeing them was the record release party at Maxwell's for the first LP AND when they opened for Ted Leo at the Kearny Irish Association, Father's Day 2009.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 3:33 PM

Fact: I'm 48 years old. By the time I was 22 I'd seen, to name just a few, The Clash, The Ramones, The Buzzcocks, X, Talking Heads, The Pretenders, The Specials, R.E.M., and motherfucking Supertramp (youthful indiscretion).

Opinion: Titus Andronicus is the best new band I've heard in 10 years, and they get better every time I see them (four times so far).

Gotta go, time for my nap.

Posted by I'm Fucking Old | September 27, 2010 3:34 PM

and that mercury lounge show was a LATE nye show... I think the doors were at 2am.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 3:47 PM

48? That's older than my dad!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 4:01 PM

Looooook at meeeeeeeee. I'm on top of the crowd. Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 4:40 PM

so b/c your old we should listen to you...
BUT how was the hummus back then?HMM

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 4:42 PM

I was at mercury nye...and I would say it was at least 3/4 full, and they definitely had played bigger shows at that point. But it was a 2am show on nye in nyc where there is a million other things to do.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 4:45 PM

Do people read BV for bands they hate? It seems so.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 5:39 PM

3:34-Believe me I can top you in terms of age and bands seen but no one really gives a shit. But lets be realistic if TA is the best band you have seen in the last 10 years, you really don't get out...at all. Decent band with lots of energy, real shitty guitar tones, and songs that are not there yet.

Bottom line is that Free Energy has a lot more melodic songs.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 9:03 PM

^ what is a shitty guitar tone?
I like my guitars to sound like a saw, a train, or a food processor.

Posted by Anonymous | September 27, 2010 10:03 PM

In my opinion (as a guitar player), Titus have awesome guitar tone, through the use of good guitars (Gretsch and Gibson), good pedals, and awesome (Fender Twins) amps. Compare that to many bands working today, and Titus have them beat.
