Floyd Bennett Field

"The new location is a pristine secluded beach area called Raptor Point, at the North end of the main (decommissioned) runway of the abandoned airport, right on Jamaica Bay. Gorgeous views of Jamaica Bay, Mill Basin, and of the distant Manhattan skyline; and a pretty phenomenal sunset spot." - Todd P

Just before the pier entrance, the "Shore Parkway Bikeway" aka "Gateway Rockaway Greenway" bicycle lane veers to the right off the traffic circle. Follow this scenic bikelane along Jamaica Bay for 3.8 miles, veering to the left when there is an option, until you see the entrance to Floyd Bennett Field.

| WALKING / BIKING DIRECTIONS WITHIN FLOYD BENNETT FIELD |
Enter the park from Flatbush Ave. You will see the "AVIATOR" sports recreation theme park and also football and baseball fields. Walk or bike to the left and behind this complex. You will find yourself on a wide former runway, running East / West. Turn left and follow the runway to its terminus, where a North / South oriented runway begins at a right angle. Turn right and follow this runway to its end. Raptor Point is at the Northern end of this runway, right on Jamaica Bay.

Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2010 12:18 AM

While grilled pita is certainly a delight, most would recognize that subjected hummus to the intense heat and smoke runs counter to this festive dish.

Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2010 12:18 AM

man some dude is mega bitter. just a laid back day with good bands at the beach. what's to criticize

Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2010 12:30 AM

The same half-dozen morons bash Todd at every chance, meanwhile those pricks couldn't put something like this together if given a fucking year.
This event is always a good time. Its never been anything but a good party with good music.

Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2010 1:38 AM

Ummm isn't Oberhofer playing in DC with Bear in Heaven on Sunday night? Cutting it a little close, eh?

Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2010 2:24 AM

Posted by Anonymous | September 11, 2010 11:26 AM

For those of you going you can just take the 2 or 5 to flatbush ave brooklyn college and it is a ten min ride on the q 35 bus.
