Yeah Yeah Yeahs @ Don Hill's - Sept 15, 2010 (cory Kennedy)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs

A MESSAGE FROM KAREN O & YEAH YEAH YEAHS:

Spank You Very Much 10 YYYears Anniversary Show Happy Birthday YYYS!

This week marks 10 years since YYYs played our first small club show in the big city! Our birthday wish is to play a show as small or smaller than back in the day and get NOSTALGIC with our friends Todd P and Secret Project Mighty Robot September 22. So dust off your Machine EPs or maybe give Yeah New York! a whirl because we're digging up some oldies but goodies, heavy on the early catalogue. It's back to basics, just the three of us and a couple hundred of you. Accommodations will be tight so we'd like to apologize in advance to those who want to be there but don't get in, we thank you for humoring us with this selfish wish to make it so puny!

Talk Normal will be popping off the festivities and Barry London will spin us through the breaks. Looking forward to bashing up this birthdayyy with you!!

Luv,
YYYs

How many college students/unemployed folks are already in line?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:07 AM

i was hoping bv wouldn't pick this up. can't compete with the work-less kids in south willie.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:07 AM

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:08 AM

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:10 AM

certain things should just not be blogged about. this is one of them.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:10 AM

Who cares! You kids should be at Pavement this week anyway.

Pavement is the only band you should be seeing this week.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:11 AM

I've heard this a trap from a devious country that's here for the UN meetings on poverty. There might be mass kidnappings and tears. You have been warned.

Posted by Dr. Gadget (inspector's dad) | September 21, 2010 10:12 AM

man if only pavement were playing nyc other nights besides wednesday

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:13 AM

Great job 10:13am!

Go to Pavement!

YYYs play NY all the time....

this will be the only time you'll see Pavement in NY again...

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:14 AM

One of the better comments from the YYYs Facebook page:

"I google mapped the area...it looks like Rapesville. Where are you guys going to sell the tickets out of? The trunk of a car?"

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:15 AM

this show would have been good ten years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:17 AM

is it going to be mostly guest listed with a a slew of blog photogaphers up front?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:18 AM

please. i got the notification on todd p's email list. no harm in posting here; it was bound to get out anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:20 AM

The place fits what 200 people?

I wish Pavement was playing there instead....

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:21 AM

guaranteed no one gets tix except jared leto, the cobrasnake and 200 other pseudo famous douchebags.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:26 AM

anyone who got that todd p email and didn't think BV would do a post about it is living in a dream world.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:28 AM

Wah Wah Wah I'm so angry I can't have everything i want. Wah wah wah other people dont work as hard as me. Are people really jealous of ambition-less parently funded seat fillers? I dont know whats worse the people the comments are directed at or the people posting them. Oh yeah...hummus

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:34 AM

I hope this show starts late because 95% of people who get tickets will be coming from the Pavement show

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:34 AM

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:44 AM

Get over yourselves. The show is promoted all over the Twitters as well.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 10:51 AM

i actually wouldn't be surprised if people were already in line

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 11:06 AM

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 11:44 AM

Don't listen to crybabies asking for listing censorship, BV. Thanks for posting.

If you guys really wanted to see an older set, you would have seen the Yeah Yeah Yeahs play at Mercury Lounge like I did back in the day.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 11:46 AM

Does anyone know what time the show will start?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 12:31 PM

good one 11:53 (i see you btw)

Posted by donn | September 21, 2010 12:35 PM

Will the intimate venu be big enough to house karen o's outfit?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 12:36 PM

i want to smear hummus all over karen's o.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 2:14 PM

ok so to be clear, there's no point in trying to get tickets once i get out of work at 6...

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 2:19 PM

12:35 I see you too, want to trade spots for a handy?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 2:22 PM

bv sucks for posting this secret concert info

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 2:30 PM

kinda makes me wish i was still unemployed, but not really though.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 2:41 PM

$20 for a loft party show wtf?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 2:48 PM

Nothing says giving back, getting back to your roots like charging 20 bucks. Assholes. Always been famewhoring fuckwads and always will be.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 3:12 PM

how bout they play on thursday night

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 4:02 PM

20 bucks and they're famewhoring? WTF. 20 bucks to see this band is a steal.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 4:11 PM

hahahahahahahahahaahahaha i can't believe people are complaining about the price hahahahahahaghahahahahahahahahahahaa

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 4:14 PM

I'm amazed that someone complained about the price. Really? Are you that cheap? Let me guess, you download albums as well.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 4:17 PM

hows the line

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 4:26 PM

Walked by about 45 minutes ago and the line is pretty damn long. I don't know the capacity of the place but it looks like there are more people outside on line then can fit inside.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 4:33 PM

is the line bigger than capacity already? might have to spend the money i made today at work on some unemployed kid's ticket tomorrow.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 4:49 PM

Line wraps around the block, not sure if it's hit capacity yet? Definitely a healthy crowd already.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 4:49 PM

HaHa all those fuckers saying 20 dollars is absurd when the band is self professed feeling nostalgic, wanting to get back the old vibe---well, those shows didn't cost 20 bucks ever and they want that spirit again but still want to get paid. Not like they can't afford to play a show in which they ain't making cash. Don't try and be idealistic "we want the good 'ol days" and still demand yo' $$$. SPend more time on your songs than on your dumd ass costumes.

Famewhores? No because of twenty bucks but because of what they are. Peep those interviews in Kill Yr Idols. Wannabe famewhores who are dumb as fuck.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 4:51 PM

"Walked by about 45 minutes ago and the line is pretty damn long. I don't know the capacity of the place but it looks like there are more people outside on line then can fit inside."

And each person is buying 2 tix.
Forget it.

Posted by MBMSA | September 21, 2010 4:56 PM

I'm here now and there is no line at all...amazing

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 4:58 PM

I'm here now and Nick Zinner just gave everyone in line some dill hummus.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 5:04 PM

$20 w/o fees is totally fucking reasonable this day and age. band probably isn't making much at all off of this. that's MAYBE $4000 in ticket sales... gotta pay the venue, FOH, etc. maybe they'll walk away with a few hundred bucks each. a far cry from the paydays i'm sure they got for RCMH and APW gigs.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 5:08 PM

The people "complaining" about $20 tickets to see a band of this size in a basement are fucking with us.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 5:13 PM

Hey man... I ain't complaining bout da price, but $20 buys a lot 0f chickpeas.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 5:17 PM

The line isn't that long, but it's wrapped around the corner and on Kent between N. 2 and 3. I think the entrance is on 3rd.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 5:27 PM

I thought YYY's were going to be playing Mercury Lounge on Friday. That's the original 10 year anniversary date.

What's up with this?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 5:39 PM

the line is around the block.

200 tickets will be sold.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 5:45 PM

Line is long, but perhaps only about 50-60 people.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 5:47 PM

Any updates on the line and or ticket status? Trying to get there!

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 6:45 PM

sold out at 6.40. prolly about 300someodd dreamers didnt get tix

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 7:34 PM

Remember my slogan people, "New York, where once in a lifetime happens every day!"

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 7:51 PM

I was the 101st person in line and didn't get tickets. They sold out at the 95th person, supposedly 150 tickets sold. If anyone has an extra for the redheaded girl in the black tights, I'll be there tomorrow! So bummed about this, I got there at 4:30 and STILL got shut out.

Posted by Jessie | September 21, 2010 8:04 PM

You had to show up at noon and hold it out to get them, like I did today. Hell, there was barely anyone at 3pm.

Posted by CNC | September 21, 2010 8:19 PM

how can i sneak in?

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 8:37 PM

Don't sneak in... Just bribe the doorman with hummus.

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 8:44 PM

Damn twittering kids

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 9:25 PM

your all full of jealousy because I got 4 tickets and you got none. haters and I'm eating hummus off my hot wife's tits

Posted by Anonymous | September 21, 2010 9:39 PM

I am going to wait around the corner and the minute I see someone with hummus and a plaid shirt I am jumping them and hog tying them to a pole and attending the show. During this episode I will then share my hummus with others cause according to hummus eating rituals, all must be shared.

You know who!

Posted by the killer | September 22, 2010 5:23 PM

Yes, they're playing Mercury on Friday. "Closed for Private Event". As if recent appearances weren't private enough.

Hey, major label acts: You want a nostalgia ride where you remember how you started out? Book a gig on a Sunday night at Kenny's Castaways under a different name and don't tell a soul except your boyfriend or girlfriend. Play to ten people and the bartender. There's your old-timey feeling.

Posted by Johnny NYC | September 22, 2010 6:59 PM

bands charge $20 for small shows because they need to rent a lot of equipment in order to make a small room have all the stellar sound they have grown accostomed to.

they make 100s of thousands of dollars when they play "real" shows, they play little shows such as this for novelty and good vibes, and at a loss

Posted by Anonymous | September 22, 2010 7:29 PM

that was amazing.

Posted by Dan K. | September 23, 2010 12:06 AM
