Gorillaz play Boston on Wednesday (10/6) to kick off of the US leg of the Escape to Plastic Beach World Tour, hitting MSG two days later. Tickets are still available. The live band, led by Damon Albarn, will also be joined by a killer lineup up special guests including De La Soul, Little Dragon, Bobby Womack, as well as Mick Jones and Paul Simonon of The Clash. AND, to quote the legendary Onyx, "buh-buh-buh-wait-gets worse!", as N.E.R.D. will join Gorillaz as opener on all dates.

Opening with "Hot N Fun" and ending with "Lap Dance", N*E*R*D* played a three-song pop-up "show" on 9/23 in Times Square as part of a Honda promotion. A pic from that appearance is above and video from that show (as well as all tour dates) are below.

With these ridiculously high ticket prices, I'm curious how crowded the MSG show is going to be.

Who in gods name would pay hundreds of dollars to see a cartoon band that exists primarily to soundtrack gap commercials and lost relevance over five years ago?

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2010 1:22 PM

1:22 obviously has no real clue about the music of Gorillaz. The most recent album is really great too actually. I'm not surprised at all about its lack of big mainstream success. I agree however that these ticket prices and the venue size do not make any sense.

1:46..it seems that 99% of people who talk smack about a band have no clue. Everyone talks without epierence on here. 1:22 probably heard one Gorillaz song on the Radio 5 years ago and thus claims to be an epert.

it was really difficulty for me to shell out the $200 for 2 tickets, but it will definitely be a good show. can't wait

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2010 2:26 PM

Overpriced. I'll just stay home, play the albums, watch some cartoons and tell my mom what I want for dinner.

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2010 2:52 PM

Dude, I wish my mom would make me hummus.

Posted by Anonymous | October 4, 2010 3:43 PM

The promoters fucked up, they're playing venues way too big for them at prices their fans can't afford.

The CT show isn't happening because of awful ticket sales. Price range after TM fees $62-107. $62 per person just to get into the worst seats in the building??? Not to mention the VIP packages you can still pull first 3 rows for in most markets that ask for $300+ per person. Oh but wait you get a free flip video camera??? Fuck this band.

Promoters know that if you love it you pay high prices, that´s the point, if nobody go, next time low prices
