After an opening set by Teenage Fanclub, Belle & Sebastian played a rain-free, two hour set at the outdoor venue known as Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn last night (9/30). A full review with pictures is coming soon, but in the meantime check out some Big Ass Lens video of the two-song encore, and a blurry picture of the setlist, below...

show of the year.

You 'show of the year' people are total clowns. It was a good show, but come on now. Not even show of the month.

sike.

Psyche! You Fool!

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:14 AM

well... it's the most fun I've had at a show this year... so, to me, it was the show of the year.

why are you people always so negative?

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:15 AM

Because 10:15am....you probably only went to 10 shows so far this year. Please list the shows you went this year. Then we can talk.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:18 AM

I go to 200+ shows a year but even on a bad night, your all tome favorite band is your "show of the year"

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:25 AM

It was a pretty excellent show. Good crowd. Tell me again: why does the audience face away from the terrific view?

Posted by RomanHans | October 1, 2010 10:25 AM

actually, 10:18, I've been to about 40 shows this year... so far... obviously, I'm not going to list them all... but here's a few:

2 of the Pavement shows, Sharon Jones @ Prospect Park & Brooklyn Bowl, Arcade Fire @ MSG, a few National shows, Deer Tick @ Maxwell's, Siren, Jimmy Cliff, Faith No More, final Voxtrot show, a couple of Titus Andronicus shows, New Pornographers @ Bell House, Camera Obscura @ Grand Ballroom, Conan @ Radio City, Los Camp, LCD SS @ Webster, Midlake @ Bowery, Wilco @ Wellmont, She & Him @ Bowery. Love is All, Wild Beasts, White Rabbits, Spoon @ the Merc, Dinosaur Jr.... to name some.

10:18- What a dick. Clearly 10:15 just had a great time at the show and wants to share that here. "Listing shows" is so lame as proving one's credibility because you may not even have the same tastes, so then what? Would that make you superior because of who you go see play and who you listen to? Really- get a life.

10:18, Get over yourself and your attendance record. This isn't a contest. But clearly you win when it comes to shitting on what people like in order to make yourself feel superior (but really, you just come across as a dick).

Lame.

agreed 10:25... B&S are my favorite band... so I'm a little biased. i thought this was one of my favorite shows of the year... top 2 or 3 anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:29 AM

AMEN 10:27!!!! fuck these negative nancys!

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:30 AM

10:26 probably also keeps count of how many drinks were imbibed at each show in order to let everyone know just how wasted he/she got, bro.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:32 AM

sonofabitch - looks like a great show. Chances of them coming back? If so, guesses on venues? They last played the Nokia with the New Pornographers, which was an excellent show. I pray that they play the Wellmont...

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:33 AM

The Beatles could reunite with Zombie Lennon and Zombie Harrison, and it's still gonna be a tough sell for anything at that outdoor shitpit to be "show of the year". And fuck that beer tent with a spiked dildo.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:35 AM

I agree with those who say "show of the year" comments are ridiculous. maybe find less confrontational ways of saying it though.

10:27 is on the same level with his need to rant and insult.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:36 AM

That show at Nokia WAS great! Say what you will about the venue being cheesy- but the sound in that place IS amazing. Get this- they even had it amped into the bathroom. AND sounded awesome. Seriously. I still laugh about that...

Missed this show. Excited to hear the new LP. Hope they make a trip back soon.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:37 AM

OMG! This was hands down without shadow a doubt the best show of the last 10 years! Anybody who thinks otherwise is a clueless fucktard who does not appreciate quality music. My opinion counts cause I'm better than you and I attend at least 7 shows every 5 years.
PS - Pavement Sucks.
PPS - Hummus taste like shit.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:45 AM

best show of the year was obviously the first night of sleep at the masonic temple. end of thread.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:45 AM

new LP has leaked already and I don't think they'd care much if you downloaded it

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:46 AM

test

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:48 AM

Got to agree, the "show of the year" "killed" "tore" "burn down" and other general over hyping morons are the worst fuckers on here. They deserve the ridicule they get.

Honorable mention of other irritating shitheads are the ones who complain about some show not being listed or covered later on. Why do you give a crap you dummies? Does it lessen the excitement of seeing the show or the enjoyment of it afterwards.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:48 AM

terrific crowd last night too. just a really beautiful evening.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:50 AM

the hummus was flowing like wine last night. truly an epic evening.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 10:55 AM

I should really stop reading these comments. It's really just like a bunch of 12 year olds having a pissing contest.

(show last night was amazing, btw.)

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 11:03 AM

MEH and the MEHjor

/I actually like that song.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 11:32 AM

I didn't see any merch tents last night. Did they have them?

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 12:00 PM

12pm: the merch was in a really weird location and they didn't have much- about 8 shirts and 2 different tote bags. no music. at first I thought it was the sound booth.

perhaps not the best show of the year, but it's the best show i've ever seen at that stupid location.

Posted by boobs vanderbilt | October 1, 2010 12:03 PM

What a great way to end the season at the waterfront! So glad the 'monsoon' didn't hit.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 12:07 PM

My apologies to the people around me for puking during B&S. Don't ever underestimate the power of a turkey's nest margarita. Those comments that were referring to the terrific crowd probably weren't from people standing near me. Actually, most of the people standing around me were really old and probably don't read BV, so fuck em.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 12:09 PM

that sucks 12:09. I was able to maintain a perfect buzz throughout. just little sips off the flask... works wonders. (and a little bud, too)

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 12:12 PM

Yea... A few sips from the flask, a few tokes of the bud, and a few chomps on the pita triangles makes for a good concert experience.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 12:14 PM

quite true 12:14. not sure if you're being sarcastic, but it's a true statement.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 12:26 PM

That tall dude on stage dancing like a fool playing the tamborine had no rhythm!

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 12:27 PM

that dude was hilarious! he was doing the stu-dance.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 12:29 PM

Moved to NYC in May of 06, got into B&S shortly after but wasn't smart and passed on their last NYC show in Battery Park... I'm very glad I went last night and for me, it was the best show of my year. I almost fell apart when Get Me Away From Here, I'm Dying came on.

Posted by Melissa S. | October 1, 2010 1:26 PM

Actually seeing belle and Sebastian around 06' life pursuit era is still in my top five, ever. They leaned heavily on the early albums (played like half of tigermilk) and just had such a great sound and vibe. They're not for everyone but hell, I'd rank them as one of the best indie bands around, even post- isobel. Really, how many of these hype bands do you think are going to have a career as long and rich as B&S? You think you're going to be going to fucking mgmt or waves shows ten years from now?

Let's all lighten up. The hardcorer than thou negativity just makes you look so sad and petty.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 2:03 PM

Last night was soul replenishing.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 2:06 PM

hanging out on bedford when the crowd let out really makes you love williamsburg

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 2:15 PM

2:03--- I'd actually say that they are better post-Isobel. at least live. They really came into their own as a live act right after she left. The 2003 and 2006 tours were top notch. That prospect park show in summer of '03 is definitely in my top shows of all time, along with the first nokia show in '06.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 2:40 PM

10:45 (1): LOL, nice!

10:45 (2): You're right, except think one day after that at the same venue.
