sade is the name of the band, not the singer. fact check.

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 4:50 PM

fact checked:
Helen Folasade Adu was born in Ibadan, Nigeria. Her father was Nigerian, a university teacher of economics; her mother Anne was an English nurse. The couple met in London while he was studying at the LSE and moved to Nigeria shortly after getting married. When their daughter was born, nobody locally was prepared to call her by her English name, and a shortened version of Folasade stuck.

her name is Sade.

arenas really? Who goes to this?

Posted by Anonymous | October 1, 2010 6:21 PM

People that enjoy the finer things in life go to this...

To put it another way, some people like to add capers to their hummus, and some people prefer plain. Dig?

believe it or not, this show is GREAT. She plays arenas as everyone is ona date. Therefore, it sells out twice as fast as half the other stuff. Band is good, she's amazing in voice, stage presence, etc. I was STUNNED when I went. I just couldn't believe it could fill an arena, or that she was greeted on the way in like a rocks star. You really need to see it to believe it....don't knock it, too, presume everyone that likes her is 40 and up and has cash. Think of that demo...ahh, wait you don't think like that.

Upscale, high end, date night with a show that actually helps people get laid. Word.

Hah, right on 10:19. You've successfully combated that damn hipster its-cool-to-hate-on-anythingotherthanindie horseshit mentality that's so permeated these comment sections so fucking pungently.

her newest album is really underrated. still one of my favorites this year

Great album. Fantastic live. She's not "Look at that fucking hipster" bait, but in this case that's a good thing.

10:19 very true, I have loved her music for years and have friends ranging from like 21 on up who like her, so her appeal is widespread to say the least. Yeah she WILL pack arenas quickly. Most musicians will never reach that kind of draw, so she must be doing something right.
