More information as I get it, but Santos Party House was just shut down for some reason (not necessarily for good), and tonight's sold out Ninja Tune anniversary celebration is moving to BLVD at 199 Bowery as of 10:30pm. Doors were at 10 - it's a late one, complete with Amon Tobin, Kid Koala, DJ Food & DK, Poirier Toddla T & Serocee, DJ Kentaro, and Eskmo all on the bill.

This comes exactly six days after another music venue, Coco66, was shut down in Brooklyn in the middle of a show.

UPDATE: drugs were the reason

the only surprising thing about this is how long it took.

this place sucked anyway.

Posted by Anonymous | October 28, 2010 10:46 PM

@1046, why do you say that? what was wrong with santos?

Posted by mikec | October 28, 2010 10:51 PM

I was there and talked to a cop who said it was due to an ongoing narcotics investigation.

I wonder what the cause of this was.

I also wonder what would happen to the MNDR show in December if this doesn't get resolved.

Posted by Anonymous | October 28, 2010 10:56 PM

MNDR will be over long before December comes

Place fucking rules. It better be temporary.

Posted by Anonymous | October 28, 2010 11:29 PM

Hernik, do you just like really trendy awful things? Best Coast? Santos? Give me a break, dude. Go away with your hardcore nonsense.

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2010 12:25 AM

Illegal humus operation?

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2010 12:38 AM

hahaha what the fuck is that comment? how is a venue trendy? retard.

Posted by Hernik | October 29, 2010 1:17 AM

BURNERS WILL SURVVE

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2010 1:41 AM

There was suspicious ingredients in the dip that made your eyes bug out and dance like a fool.

But no it was a rather trendy place where people went to hang out and ignore the bands a lot it seems.

1:17am

Are you for real?

"How can a venue be trendy?"

Really?

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2010 5:47 AM

i kinda liked the santos party house. bummer!

Posted by Andy | October 29, 2010 8:22 AM

I like drugs so I like Santos

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2010 8:28 AM

this is pretty serious. looks like the end of this place, at least in the current configuration, and under the current name, with the current ownership

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2010 10:05 AM

I realize this isn't the New York Times, but (ha ha fake-out, just seeing if BVs listening).

Actually this sad post on Santos is giving me ultra short term nostalgia of this video jewel from the King Khan and the Shrines show only two week's ago!

Yet you don't explain yourself 5:47. Figures.

Anyway, It'd be cool to eventually find out what the cause of all this is...

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2010 10:31 AM

Where o where will I go now for late night hummus?

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2010 10:32 AM

Hope the O.T.O. can find as cool a new home for their monthly Gnostic Masses.

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2010 10:56 AM

Santos can get crowded, but BLVD was just insanely packed. The sound was ear-splittingly bad and the drinks crazy expensive.

And STILL we had a great time.

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2010 10:57 AM

Hey 10:57...

Would you be willing to write a review of the event, the performers you heard, etc? I'd really like to read about it.

"Are you for real?
"How can a venue be trendy?"
Really?"

Yes really you fucking loser. It's a place I went to see the bands I wanted to see and nothing else. State your name pussayyy.

Posted by Hernik | October 29, 2010 1:28 PM

Nevermind that guy, Hernik. Obviously people like to think they're too cool and above you by stating nonsense like that.

Posted by Anonymous | October 29, 2010 5:04 PM

Does anyone know if Santos will be closed or open this Sunday/Halloween for the Karen Black show?? And, if it's closed, how can I get a refund for tickets already purchased for the show?? OMG, this sucks!
