I haven't seen people having so much fun as they did at Foals show last night in a long time. It was among the best of the 100+ shows I've seen this year. If I can get tickets, I'll see them again tonight.

bob dylan doing 3 nights at terminal 5 in november. a guy who sounds like crap nowadays and a venue that sounds like crap. perfect match.

hate to break it to 12:32... but the neverending tour has actually been really good lately.

Totally agreed. Been to a lot of shows this year and Foals will definitely be in my top 5 of the year. So tight live especially with the new songs. can't wait for tonight!

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2010 2:03 PM

Foals was fun and good. But Top 5 of the year or one of the best of the year or people having more fun at this than at any other show this year so far. Nah those statements are not true but then again i probably have been to way more shows this year than 2:03 and 10:42am.

All the "how many shows have you been to?" dick wagging is getting really annoying. Can't we go back to hummus jokes?

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2010 2:35 PM

goin to Terminal 5 to see Soulive, Lettuce, Scofield, and more.

Pretty much the best funk concert that could happen in the US right there.

Regina Spektor has a discussion, not a show. Agree with others on the Foals show. They were tight and put on a perfect show.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2010 3:53 PM

Top 5 shows of the year for me (don't hate!)
1) Sonic Youth at Prospect Park
2) LCD Soundsystem at MHOW
3) Jonsi at T5
4) Pavement at Summerstage (2nd night.....rain rain rain everyone still sang along....awesome show)
5) Foals at Bowery

$35 to see a grateful dead cover band- bruahahahahahahaahahaha. the dead didnt cost more than $25- $30 most on the last tour. hilarious/ remember wetlands? its $5 to see a cover band, Man

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2010 8:42 PM

Regina Spektor is a primadonna whose star is fading faster than a fart inside of another fart. Last album had no worthwhile tunes on it and she'll become even more difficult as sales vanish.

"shame there aren't more cats walking around the world like Van Dyke Parks. He's a treasure."

A treasure that should have remained buried. Meddling arrangements and an artistic personality on par with Randy Newman as most unnecessary artist working today.

Posted by Crosseyed Sniper | October 2, 2010 9:43 PM

i dont have an opinion on any of that (except song cycle is a gr8 record) but you scan brooklynvegan comments for statements you disagree with and then you "snipe" them with your opinions and you call yourself the sniper hahaha.

Posted by Anonymous | October 2, 2010 10:18 PM

i've been to 157 shows this year and have the ticket stubs to prove it (and im not counting a new years eve show that extended WELL past midnight into the new year).

of those, i'd put the foals bowery show at top 20, but not top 10. Just too many great shows out there. If I went to less shows like other posters here then it would be top 10 or even top 5 so i see where they're coming from. but i've seen too many great bands. Foals will have to settle for a spot in 12-17.

Great cover of Robin S.'s "Show Me Love" from The xx tonight.

i got me a $2.50 falafel sandwich with hummus at ali baba

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 12:36 AM

well, if u do have those ticket stubs, then i guess u've shown us. we'll just have to not track u down & stab u in the face for being a magnificently insipid douchebag, even by bv standards (& the fact that u managed to do it without hummus or meh might get u a spot as high as the 12-17 range). wait, u saw a new years eve show that went past midnight? into THE NEW YEAR? holy shit, what can we do but bow down & pay homage to your awesomeness. we will totally have to not skullfuck u after we're done with the stabbing

^^show of the year

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 1:35 AM

regina played a long set, less than a normal gig of course but definitely longer than most instores, & for whatever reason she was WAY more intense & into the performance than any other show of hers ive seen (not many tho) since she got popular. not at all the type of cutesy, meh standard run-thru of a few hits i assumed it would be...surprisingly powerful show, strikingly out of place for the room...i think a couple songs may have been brand new, maybe that has something to do with the focused way she played. now somebody please berate me using chickpea imagery

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 1:40 AM

bv needs to get a book deal to publish an anthology of all the comments on this site. then it needs 2 b developed into an unwatchable sitcom, starring james spader

CONGRATULATION Mr. VEGAN!

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 2:21 AM

Foals was very very good. Great, even. Young crowd, but they brought energy. The downside was that the midtempo "Alabaster" didn't really play all that well with the kids in front. Beautiful song. Otherwise perfect set.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 2:33 AM

cool, is this a new thing we're doing? CONGRATULATION Mr. SPIELBERG! this is fun! who's next?

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 2:34 AM

van dyke parks was amazing. what a strange and wonderful vibe. i almost cried when he played the attic

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 2:36 AM

ok, i think its official now, foals clearly draws the most purely bv crowd in all of brook land. they is the champion.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 2:47 AM

^^^^^ Was it the show of the year?? Cause some of these stupid fucking Foals concert goers will take you down.

By the way I have gone to over 200 shows this year. I went to Foals on friday and I would have to rank it number 33 in shows of the year. Also, it would be in the top 5 of shows where people were having the most fun but I saw three people to the right of me sort of half smiling and not fully so i had to drop it down a few numbers.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 2:49 AM

1:21--Awesome, dude.

You don't understand sarcasm (I didn't write the post you were replying to, but I can read the difference between actual bragging and mock-bragging even when I'm wasted),

AND your prose style is basically a tween's.

AKA: U should look in2 getting hit by a bus.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 4:18 AM

10:19 here. Nope, i was serious. I really did see a NYE show that went WAY past midnight. I know you can't believe it, but that's why I keep all my ticket stubs, duh.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 4:44 AM

CONGRATZ MR. GOD

(FAGGOT)

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 7:08 AM

Foals were great... I'm lukewarm on the first album, but those songs were most of the highlights of the set

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 8:13 AM

"BTW I have been to 366 shows this year..."

Blah blah blah...this shows you truly have no taste, since you go to see anything!

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 10:44 AM

im 100 percent the real 10:19 and the other guy pretending to be me is lying. you can probably tell by the writing style though

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 12:33 PM

@12:27... Because the Brooklynvegan comment section makes or breaks a band's career? That makes no sense

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 12:37 PM

i dont know who the real 10:19 is but the original is pretty clearly sarcastic to me though its subtle. very well written whoever you are.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 12:37 PM

all of you need to simmer down, put away your foals memories and look up who VAN DYKE PARK is since none of you seem to know or care.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 12:39 PM

er, PARKS. my bad.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 12:41 PM

4:18 here.

4:44: you are awesome. Like: hummus awesome, even.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 1:13 PM

i'm 98 percent the real 10:19, and im not pretty subtle at all.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 4:57 PM

ok, im the real 10:19. i cant prove it but its true. Im not any of the other supposed 10:19s though i think 4:44 gave a great response.

Posted by Anonymous | October 3, 2010 7:29 PM
